After reading a number of previous reviews my wife and I was presently surprised. The hotel room (albeit in the attic area not suitable for tall people) was clean and comfortable. The staff were helpful and pleasent, the food was excellent. We spent a couple of relaxing evenings sitting in the garden listening to the birds singing away! Annoying sqeaking floor boards in shower room.

Lovely old fashioned hotel but with quite modern and comfortable bedrooms. Staff were very friendly and the food in the restaurant was excellent - pity not more people made use of it. Would go back there and recommend the hotel. Only one observation on the negative side is few facilities for disabled people and no mention of this on line.

Rooms provided were together at the end of the corridor behind a fire door enabled us to open the doors between rooms and still have privacy. Proximity to wedding we were attending Breakfast available until 9.30am at weekends, no lift, food overpriced for the quality provided, some mattresses dipped in the middle

the room was small and the carpets were disgusting. No remote for tv plus tv was about 12 inch screen on wall at other side of room,if you had bad eyesight it was hard to focus on,also large window in room was broke and would not shut so kept awake all night by passing traffic.Shower cubicle was to small, not everybody is small and dainty. In all a very bad experience and would never advise anybody to stay here.

Convenient for quayside. Lovely character dining area and conservatory. None really. No-one often on reception but we only stayed one night. Would use again if coming to Gravesend.

Peeling paint, a disgustingly dirty carpet, bugs in the room (2 bites) and a plastic sheet under the bedsheet (sweaty), to the sound of trucks roaring down the street. All that for a mere 80 GBP without breakfast! A British hotel at its worst.

The bar and lounge lead out on to a nice conservatory and back garden and the location is quite quiet. The decoration was very dated , the reception was always unmanned and the room carpet was very dirty. The tv ws very old with limited channel choice. The electric shower appeared to be broken so I couldn't have a hot shower. It was difficult to find hotel staff in the morning as there was only one female staff member who seemed to be cooking and serving breakfast.

Location. Within an easy walk to Gravesend town centre and fast track rail to London. Slightly overpriced. Reception sparsely staffed. The hotel is in need of some upgrading - especially the bathrooms.

It was unique - not a chain and had character. Staff were very friendly and welcoming and accommodating. It was a bit warm in the roof top room even though it wasn't a hot day.

It was convenient....There are few hotels in the area and I was working in Gravesend for several days. I was extremely disappointed with the Overcliffe. It offered wi-fi access which wasn't available. The shower had no power and made washing my hair impossible. Having tried to find anyone to remedy either situation I found reception closed! All in all the room was clean and reasonably comfortable, but the service etc does not merit the £80 I was charged just for a room.

The location and the food the pleasant service at breakfast The very uncomfortable bed, the broken toilets in both rooms we were given, the broken dining chairs with nails sticking out, the very cramped bathrooms, the poor waitress service at dinner, the contradiction between the in-room information and the staff's version of when breakfast was served (until 09.30 in the room guide and 09.00 according to the staff), the fact that breakfast finished so early at the weekend, the lack of access from the rear carpark with no warning or information or guide to the tired traveller trying to gain access to the hotel.

The location only. 1] Having to wait for over 30 minutes to find a staff member to check me in. 2] It seemed a big problem for the staff when I went to breakfast as I was 'not on their list'. 3] Not having anyone on their '24 hour' reception when I came back to the hotel at 9 p.m. one evening. 4] Very expensive for the quality of service offered, 5] For having an ironing board but not an iron.
