Loved the location, the staff were very efficient and friendly and the restaurant and food were superb - drinks also reasonably priced
Didn't like the small bathroom without a proper shower and the light overhead did not work - if we go again, I would ask for a different room other than room 23
Quiet and relaxing. Staff very nice when they could be found.
Staff not always available. Had to wait an age to get a drink in the bar in the evening. UHT milk and rationed to only two sachets of coffee.
superb comfort good swimming pool excellent breakfast quiet country surroundings
Location View Quality of Food
Temperature of swimming pool Having to notify before using sauna No biscuits in room No slippers provided Too expensive
The decore in our room and guest bar appeared tired and dated. The rate appeared expensive for the quality of the accommodation.
Very clean. Excellent breakfast including choice. Very polite and helpfull staff. Stayed 2 nights and all staff we met were consistently excellent!
The shower was on a mixer and the water pressure was very low, could have done with a pump to compensate and more modern temperature control.
A beautiful house in a beautiful setting, close to Ludlow. Would be ideal for a wedding reception.
Impersonal and soulless due to lack of occupancy. Said they were busy the previous week but the visitors book had not been signed since 26 July and we were there on 11 to 13 August 2014. The menu was expensive and we would have been eating on our own in a beautiful dining room, and would have felt intimidated .
A lacarte menu was over priced
Dog friendly, exemplary staff, fabulous food
nothing we didnt like
The receptionist was very professional apart from she was the only one there then she was at breakfast not enough fruit at breakfast ie grapefruit but over all good
The swimming pool cold when it's advertised heated sauna not on have to wait 45 mins
Guy who checked us in did provide a place for our bikes (this was a stop on our John O'Groats to Lands End ride) although alarm bells were ringing when he provided the function room. Saturday night and not being used?????
Excessively hot room even with windows wide open. The cold water taps ran warm too.Terrible staff especially checking out in the morning. Didn't stay for breakfast although we paid for it so can't comment. Most expensive stay on our 2 week journey through the UK and the worst. Wouldn't stay there for free.
Spaciousness, quality of rooms, helpful and responsive staff
Restaurant a little too OTT and expensive. Shower was weak!
After cycling into Ludlow and back in the recent hot weather jumping in the swimming pool was a joy. A bit cool but once you get moving it was a great little pool. We used it first thing in the morning before going to breakfast as well. Breakfast was nice, hot food really well presented but they could provide a little more variety, like yoghurts and fresh fruit. Staff were wonderful and friendly. They let us leave our bikes in a back room and bought us drinks out in the garden. We requested that the mattress be changed because of a broken spring and it was.
WiFi even though only available in the "public areas" was terribly weak and slow. Others have said that the restaurant was superb but we found it pretentious and overpriced. They would be better served by providing a more encompassing menu at reasonable prices. Water pressure to the rooms shower was awful. The shower in the swimming pool area was preferred.
Location, ambience of old country house; superb evening cuisine; swimming pool; quiet atmosphere
Bed a bit hard; tv remote didn't work; service at breakfast rather slow
Excellent but pricey dinner menus General facilities were good
No alternative to the main dinner menus a light menu would have been nice Rooms are now a little dated a chair for each occupant is essential
The hotel was very well presented, nice period touches and the staff were very helpful and courteous. Breakfast was lovely and the pool and sauna were a welcome sight once we returned after a hot and humid day out. Lovely location and views of the rolling country side. A few gripes didn't impact on our enjoyment of a few days break.
Showers in the rooms had very low output, and were very difficult to mix hot and cold effectively. The drinks in the bar were expensive and the wine by the glass had obviously been open for a while as they had started to oxidised. You had to call on staff to open the bar and whilst they were happy to do so, it didn't allow us the freedom to just come in and grab a drink at the end of the evening.
Quietness, out in the country. Breakfast very good
Noise from the toilet system when system full up switching off ,Loudness disturbed you even from next doors system. Woke you up,at night.
Lovely location and views. Very nice breakfast.
Mould in corner of bathroom and rusty shower shelf. Toilet lid wouldn't stay up properly.
The hotel was comfortable, the staff were friendly and the breakfast was tasty.
The rooms were very hot and quite small although they were beautifully decorated and well appointed x
Friendly attentive staff
Room was very warm with no means of cooling it down
Service and very good food
Temperature of water in the pool
The staff were excellent as was the food
The outside patio area. The tables and chairs had green mould growing on them and the patio looked like it had not been cleaned in months.
Restaurant food was excellent. Breakfast food was also very good. Location was excellent for local area - easy walking distance to Ludlow.
If you stay for the weekend you have to have a meal (at £42 per person, excluding wine) - food was great but adds a substantial cost. Room we stayed in was exceptionally warm, even at night (warmer than the rest of the hotel). Staff provided a small fan but we were informed that "it had been warm" during the day, as though we hadn't realised. Gave no opportunity to change rooms, even though the hotel didn't seem that busy. The room we had wasn't particularly comfortable for a night's sleep. We also came back late evening to find our room had been serviced but with no towels (at all) left. Tried phoning reception but one answered and we had to go find someone (it was only 9.30pm). For the price of the room we expected better service.
Food, although not a wide choice at dinner, and expensive. Delicious breakfast. Very warm welcome from staff
Some road noise.
felt a bit dated and not as luxurious as you would hope for the price paid! In a superior room the bed was only a standard double size
