staff friendly . large modern room and decor. nice bathroom even though taps were wobbly !
Called " ox pasture hall ", even though it appears to be a small , old extended farmhouse with new annex. (more like a restaurant with rooms).we stayed in a "deluxe double" room, number 25. Over looking (through unwashed windows) a small pond with propane storage tanks at the side. we paid £170.00 for one night , described as a luxury retreat. There were no bathrobes or slippers. no bottled water or glasses, ill fitting and torn bedding. No hot water on the sunday morning. No uht milk on the drinks tray. poor wifi and phone reception. Did not eat in the restaurant as the menu was very limited , only one veggie option. We are a young middle aged couple who over the years have stayed in dozens of hotels with varying tariffs , but have never stayed somewhere we felt the website gave one impression and reality had given another !
We felt so relaxed, it was freezing outside but the hotel was very warm and the staff could not do enough for us, enjoyed every minute.
Nothing, loved it.
friendly staff Very pet friendly lovely location
piped music at breakfast coffee no bar cheaper menu and the bar wasn't very atmospheric limited choice of local ales
Turned up after a 2 hour drive to be told the heating was broke but we have given you a small radiator. Was given the wrong room is in first place when mentioned they said there had been a mistake. Was shown to the room we had booked to be told there is no heating or hot water it was freezing. They knew the boiler was broken but never thought to ring us and give us the chance to cancel, they just thought they could give us a room that was dated and not to my standard. Was then offered a room with a few of the garage roof no room to swing a cat for the same price of £160. We were so disappointed we asked for our money back and told the. There efforts were not good enough. To which they said fine and a refund was given and we drove 2 hours back home and they did not care. Our Valentine was ruined and no effort was made to accommodate us. Stayed in better for less money terrible management
meal choice only one menu
The rustic charm of the place and the friendliness.
Lack of wi-fi connection. Very poor, wherever you were in the building.
The welcome, the food the cleanliness, the rooms, the list goes on. Can't fault this place at all. Our 2nd Anniversary visit done and we look forward to this treat each year. Lindsey the manager is always so happy and friendly :)
Nothing! Such a wonderful place.
You were made feel so welcome. Nothing was too much trouble.
Food was good room cleanliness excellent
Room was right opposite outer door which did not fit door frame correctly other guests had to slam door to close our room windows & door rattled awake most of night. Nobody on reception on arrival,no lighting in car park, it was dark when we arrived, customers in bar waiting to be served no staff available
The location and food were very good, and the young staff were pleasant.
Wi Fi did not work in the the 'classic' bedroom which was was small and dreary, and vastly overpriced. An upgraded room was not much better and cold. Attempts to bleed the radiator and connect to Wi fI took ages and were unsucessful. An oil filled radiator was produced, but a only a second upgrade finally gave us decent accomodation - but still no interner connection. Wet room area flooded the whole otherwise excellent bathroom. Not a restful stay!
Nicely placed between Scarborough (convenient, but not too close) and the moors; welcoming staff; comfortable ambience; pretty good food (dinner and breakfast); and all despite it being a "quiet" mid-week December day.
The staff were helpful and friendly. the food was excellent. The superior room was well appointed and comfortable.
our room, no 27, was not prepared at check in time. The noise of creaking floorboards from above was extremely annoying overnight. No hot water on the Sunday morning due to a suspected gas leak.
Beautiful Grounds Friendly staff Nice room very large in size Restaurant serve lovely food
I was with my special lady .being with her and the surroundings of the ox pasture made our stay PERFECT. thank you . We will visit again
That they responded to my complaint re our allocated room condition promptly.
The lack of cleanliness in our first bedroom, lack of comfort and luxury in what was is classed as a country house hotel. Poor selection of cereals/pastries/ fruit at the breakfast buffet table.
Lovely hotel set in a beautiful location. Food excellent, I had a lovely room very clean, with really comfy bed. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Would return.
Location Room Size Breakfast
Room was dusty id not feel clean Bathroom fittings tired Noise from next door through thin walls
The location was lovely. superior double room was really comfortable especially the big bed. the staff were really pleasant and helpful.
The floor above us creaked at every movement of the occupants, also their voices were audible. no hot water on Sunday morning due to a suspected gas leak.
We stayed in room 23, which was huge, it had a sitting room! Lovely view of the lake, in a beautiful, tranquil environment. Breakfast in the restaurant was also very good, a nice selection of fruit, cereal and juices as well as the option of a full english/porridge.
We could hear some of the other guests, but only if they were being particularly loud. The wifi wasn't the fastest or most reliable, but fine for occasional checking of emails/Facebook etc. Although very large, the bed was actually two singles pushed together.
We stay always in the Oxpasture Hall on the way home from Scotland because its so dogfriendly , England dog and horse Country but most of the time dogs not allowed in many publique places(don't have that problem in Belgium)and yes we d'like to have dinner with our dog and enjoy a good meal and thats all possible The Oxpaster Hall !!!
Nothing if the dog is comfy so are we !!!
Fabulous rooms, it was like a mini suite, rural yet close to coast. Great breakfast and food
The weather but even a great hotel cant change that !
Having arrived for a wedding, I was told by the bar staff, they couldn't serve me, and that I should go downstairs to the other bar to get a drink. Since I was paying £150 a night, I would assume that this offers access to all the facilities including the main bar area, regardless of whether I am part of a separate function.
We were particularly fortunate that each morning as the sun rose, we woke up to beautiful views from our room window
Wi fi although free was very slow and only available in certain areas.
Ambience of hotel is excellent. Our room was very comfortable and warm in chilly weather. It appeared that little expense had been spared in keeping the hotel luxurious.
The staff were individually pleasant and efficient but were overstretched and this showed from time to time particularly in the the restaurant. Perhaps this was due to the fact that the busy season had just passed and staffing levels had been reduced
