Score from 747 reviews Good
The location was good, right by a bus stop that took us to town. The B and B was easy to find with good parking.
The price was expensive. The cooked breakfast was small, and although the waitress tried hard to be helpful, her English was poor and we struggled to ask for what we wanted.
The room was very nice, clean and spacious. The staff seemed very friendly.
It was quite pricey, but Oxford in general is expensive.
Clean, good breakfast, friendly staff.
The price...very expen sive for a B&B!
Proximity to hospital Breakfast
Issue over payment- my son was staying on his own and the housekeeper wouldn't allow me to pay the night before. All sorted with a quick phone call in the morning
Breakfast! Friendly staff. Bus stop directly outside BB.
A little cold in the room but was late October.
Fantastic Service, Friendly Staff, Comfortable Bed, Tasty Breakfast, and the fact that it is not the All Seasons Guest House (The Worst Guest House in Oxford...Just down the road)
Nothing to complain about - they were exceptional.
A nicely remodeled B&B very clean. Room big enough, large lovely bathroom, also spotless, kettle in room. Very nice variety for breakfast. The breakfast staff was friendly. Bus 200-300 feet away takes you to and from Oxford.
The only time you see anyone in charge was when you check in and when you do, you are informed that if you plan to use your credit card, there will be a 2% additional charge. It may have been on the booking.com site but I don't remember it.
Convenience of the location for access to Oxford Cinty centre, London and Heathrow International Airport. Helpfulness and courteousness of the staff. Clean, comfortable and functional room.
Super clean, bright, thoughtfully decorated. Friendly accommodating staff. Would definitely stay here again if needing to be close to the John Radcliffe/Churchill Hospitals.
Wifi a little sporadic.
Good locstion friendly staff and spotless
Breakfast could be better more fresh fruit salad and better sausages. We also had to ask for toast 3 times
clean and comfortable room. Very comfortable bed and an excellent breakfast.
The room looked as if it had recently been refurbished, but there was only one bedside table which was covered with the tea & coffee facility. There needs to be 2 bedside tables and the tea & coffee need to be on a separate table.
Nice owner and staff, room including the bathroom is clean. Breakfast is made for order, very good arrangement. 10-15mins drive to city center, a good option for travelers with cars.
Staff and breakfast very good, With parking in Oxford very difficult, there is a cheap bus trip to the town centre on #8 and #9 that takes 15 minutes and run every 10 minutes or so. Also very close to road to Heathrow.
Room very cramped
Easy to find Parking available Convenient to local transport to city Clean and comfortable
Welcoming reception, cleaniness, attention to personal service, friendly staff and freshly cooked breakfast to order
every thing good
nothing to dislike
The breakfast was fine, as we're the staff in the morning.
We were "welcomed" by a lady who seemed determined to finish with us as quickly as possible so she could get back to what she was doing. She asked some awkward questions about payment before showing us to our room and making her escape; no time for questions. The room itself: it had hostel-style "don't to this, that, etc." signs in the bathroom (and very poorly written at that). Two things made sleeping difficult: there was a very bright green light on the ceiling and because of the closing mechanism on the room doors, there were doors slamming very loudly through the house. The poor TV reception made watching unbearable. There were a lot of advertising brochures at the entrance but no maps, e.g. of Oxford.
Location, cleanliness, price, free wifi, free parking, esp the excellent breakfast!!
No air con.
Very good breakfast cooked to order. The house is brandnew, so everything is spic and span.
Nobody was there when we arrived ("Out shopping!!??). Nor did anybody answer our message on the answering machine ("no connection to foreign cell"). If we hadn´t been so lucky as to have other guests from Britain waiting with us, we could have ended up waiting for hours. This is no way to conduct business in a guests house. There need to be regular reception hours (posted!) The street running in front of the guest house is loud and busy (bus stop!) and street lights shine into windows, so sleeping is difficult. The garden of the house has been turned into a desert of concrete and asphalt - no charm whatsoever left. The guest house is a 15 minutes busride from downtown Oxford, so it is not that convenient (although buses do run frequently). The reason for the good ratings are probably due to the house being brandnew and everything being in top shape. How bathrooms and beds etc. will look in a couple of years is anyone´s guess... 2% surcharge for card payment needs to be mentioned on website!
very clean close to bus and shops own car park at rear of property ensuite shower rm
front rm so bit noisey
Bus stop right outside. Great to have a downstairs room - which was great for single person -so didn't have to struggle with luggage. Ability to leave luggage during the day after check out.
Was on main road - but still had great sleep.
I went to Oxford for a conference but I wanted to spend 2 days visiting the city. I selected Oxford Guest House and I am very glad I did. It is, to borrow Hemigway´s words, a clean well lighted place. The staff is very kind and the go out of their way to help you out. The house is located in Headington near a shopping area full of restaurantants and coffee shops. The bus stop is two blocks away and by taking bus 8 or 9 you get to downtown very easily. The bus stop for the Airline, a bus company that runs comprehensive services to Heathrow, Gatwick, London and nearby towns, is located two blocks away from Oxford Guest House. Breakfast is superb!
Nice staff and good place. Concenient very close to bus stop for airport buses (and other buses).
We had a room at ground level towards the road, in warm summer. No AC in the room, and if opening the windows for ventilation it was possible for someone from the outside to step in. Would be good if these rooms at ground level towards the road could get AC.
good staff - friendly - arrived early as Hospital appointment. Let us use car park and put luggage in room. Good bedroom and bathroom, very comfortable bed. Various choices for breakfast, which was cooked well. Would stay again.
No dislikes really. Would like to see a mirror placed in area over dressing table and power points to be easily accessible. Only one bedside table with table lamp, as not enough room by left side of bed so had to use windowsill for clock , water etc. Perhaps a small shelf could be fitted with wall lights over bed area! Need a hand rail in shower area.
