In 30 acres of scenic parkland, the 4-star Four Pillars Hotel overlooks the River Thames. It offers luxurious rooms, a swimming pool, spa and gym, just 4 miles from Oxford.
Score from 478 reviews Fabulous
Hawkwell is a peaceful country house beside the River Thames, 2 miles from Oxford city centre. It has a 3-acre garden and serves modern British cuisine in Iffley Blue Restaurant.
Score from 744 reviews Very good
In the heart of Oxford, opposite the Ashmolean Museum, The Macdonald Randolph Hotel offers sumptuous bedrooms and a luxury spa. With an award-winning restaurant, there is also a famous bar.
Score from 683 reviews Very good
Off Oxford High Street and opposite Magdalen College, this 17th-century converted coaching inn has an AA Rosette brasserie and bar. Oxford’s main shopping district is 10 minutes’ walking distance.
Score from 353 reviews Good
Spacious, comfortable and pretty room, also swimming pool and spa treatments, and restaurant, all of a high standard. Path leads out to the riverbank and lovely walks in both directions along the River Thames. Acres of free parking!
A Rumian young lady in restaurant, kindly went out of her way to find a table that my w/chair would go under, VERY much appreciated, please thank her? All staff very kind and helpful, would recommend to any 'able-bodied' friends
Very big bedroom, ideal for w/chair, unforunately, bathroom a JOKE! Couldn't get w/chair to move around inside/'lethal' square toilet?/could not get to sink/shower - 6" step? All sorts of disabilities, I know, but the 'planners' were obviously 'able-bodied' WHY don't you ask a disabled 'planner' to assist in design?
quiet. Helpful pleasant staff. location
The bed was too soft for me. I prefer a stiff mattress.
Receptionist very helpful and very friendly. All staff very efficient. Room upgraded and was lovely - large, clean, comfortable.
Both of us had back ache and we wonder if it was from the bed, however we did sleep well. Don't think that there was air con which could be an issue in the summer.
Excellent location for exploring Oxford on foot River walks as well on the doorstep. Hotel has plenty of parking and as it is set back off of the main Abingdon Road you do not get traffic noise
Room was okay but tired, reported a problem with the plumbing to the staff loud banging noises from pipes when rooms flushing the loo or running water, hope they resolve this
Cleanliness, facilities, position of hotel in relation to Oxford centre.
Lack of breakfast tables meant long que waiting to be seated yet there was an additional area of tables closed off. Breakfast and evening meal served tepid. Very Slow table service. Seating especially in bedroom and lounge area outside restaurant very uncomfortable after a day sightseeing. Lighting in bedroom to dim to read.
Breakfast, Bed, Staff, Location, Quietness
The bed was comfortable and the feather pillows as requested at booking were nice.
The "duvet" was a fairly solid pad of polyester which was very hot.
Free apples at lobby
It'll cost £2.5 per morning. Whereas it's free at lobby.
Good location, professional staff, ample free parking and reasonable rates.
Poor WiFi and understaffed at lunch in bar area.
Even the weather was perfect!
Nothing at all could be faulted.
Location Restaurant Spacious and clean room
Service at the front desk
Mattress not very comfortable.
The hotel location, the hotel room, excellent breakfast , friendly, helpful staff.
lovely hotel. very nice room. Easy to get into oxford, with a excellent bus service. Or a nice walk by the themes. .
We were put in a room with a tiny window over looking a car park when we asked for a view. And our room was over a goods entrance where deliveries were being dropped off at 6 in the morning so git woken up by people banging and shouting. And to top it off the cleaner came into our room at 9:50 when we were checking out at 11.
The location was very good close enough to walk into oxford but set in lovely peaceful grounds.
Rooms were a little hot as my window didnt open bery wide and no wifi in the rooms available.
The receptionists were very helpful. The rooms where clean
Decent, well-staffed hotel offering good value for money and high level of comfort.
Location: not really in central Oxford. About 15 to 20 minutes walk from the centre of town and so wouldn't recommend this hotel if you're not travelling by car.
Location Staff Easy parking and access to the city Large, comfortable room
One of the cups in the room was cracked. We stayed two nights but staff did not notice and replace it. After our first night, the used flannels were taken from the bathroom and were not replaced. A tiny bit more sttention to little details would have made this an excellent stay.
The location in nice secluded grounds close to Oxford city centre is a bonus The rest of the hotel is typical large sleep factory. The rooms are a decent size and clean and comfortable.
The experience in the restaurant instead of being a happy family celebration of my daughters graduation was the most miserable experience I have endured. There was not one redeeming feature. Despite the abundance of waiting staff the service from ordering to delivery was slow and haphazard. This was mostly due to the poorly trained staff and lack of language skills of the waiting staff. But the icing on the cake (or lack of it ) was the food. Having ordered the daily special (pork belly ) and expecting the best from a talented and creative kitchen staff the resulting depressingly small plate of food that would not have satisfied a 2 year old was the last straw. Two small pieces of pork about one inch square some small pieces of chorizo, two brussels sprouts and one potato with some vegetable puree. Pity the restaurant manager that asked if everything was ok. Ha Ha ha did she get told something. But seriously. The menu operates on a fixed price for two or three courses. But then most main courses have a supplement. So a dinner of three courses is around 30 quid. Fine if the food is up to scratch. We did get a 20% reduction but this was small compensation for ruining a special evening.
Nice walk along river into town, shame about the tramps loitering around on the benches
Bed too small, crowned in middle so rolled off the sides!
Fabulous riverside location, close to town. Lovely staff.
Room 11, whilst having a view of the garden, is next door to the laundry room. The tumble dryers were still going when we returned at midnight and we had to ask for them to be switched off.
Looking out at horses, ducks and wild deer from my bedroom window
Nothing, it was all very pleasant
Room was a good size, nice bathroom.
Very noisy. You can hear doors banging down the hallway as well as your neighbours. We barely slept because we had a very noisy neighbour. We complained at 2am, nothing was done. We complained again at 2.30am when finally the very loud tv was turned off. Not what you want after a 10 hour flight. We mentioned it to the front desk on check out and the manager said " oh I heard about that from the night staff, it was terrible wasn't it?" !! and he continued do what he was doing. No compensation, nothing. Avoid this hotel like the plague.
