Just a few minutes’ walk from Oxford city center, the Head of the River is on the banks of the scenic Thames River. The traditional inn features a riverside terrace and a stylish restaurant.

Spa. Room. Peace and quiet. View of fields. Close to river path for walking and to town for access. On bus route if needed.
Great location Comfortable rooms
Toilet made a lot of noise while refilling. Sounded like a noisy water pump Wifi away from the router was poor Expensive
We ordered milk and Sandwich separate from each other in the evening and waited an unreasonable amount of time only arrived after follow up phone calls
Everything else was great
Lovely spacious room situated overlooking fields at back of hotel, very quiet. All staff were helpful, everywhere was clean. Enjoyable breakfast. Good location, about 10 mins walk into centre with free parking.
Bed a bit springy - otherwise nothing.
great room . good location quite away from traffic. staff friendly and helpful. room well equipped bathroom well finished
breakfast very poor , hot food cold, coffee of poor quality, generally not up to the standards of the rest of the hotel
It's simply awesome
comfortable bed, friendly staff.
Room service food disappointing. Cheese sandwich dry and unappealing, hot meal not hot.
Parking, room spacious and bed very comfortable
Bar quite expensive, but room was very good value. Shower over bath could not be properly detached and water pressure was not great
The food was not good. We were there for a dinner function and felt food was poor.
Staff friendliness. Free wifi Great location
I loved the location, layout and cleanliness of the hotel and we felt very looked after. The walk to town was fine, either along the river or the road, and it didn't take long. The bed and room were very comfortable - I nearly didn't want to leave to go out in the evening I go so comfortable! Shower and bathroom to a good standard. Towels/hairdryer/tea/coffee etc. provided. We used the pool etc. and it was small but nice.
It's not that I didn't like the spa facilities, but the changing rooms are very small and can get crowded with just a few people in there. There is only one shower.
Approx a 30 min slow walk to centre. Nice staff, clean room.
Had eveing dinner in main resturant, is was OK, but, nothing to rave about. The restaurant menu didn't really reflect the star level of the hotel. 2nd night was my birthday so my husband booked a restaurant in the city centre. We had breakfast in a local place just up the road.
Lack of inside signage advising how to return to reception. The property is a maze of hallways, and no signs indicating how to get out to, say car parks, in an orderly manner, other than fire exits.
Rate for a 4 star hotel. Overall ambience. Spotlessly clean. Staff - very helpful and friendly. Food - excellent.
I cannot think of anything.
breakfast was very expensive
The location is perfect, 10 minutes walk from the city centre, but in a peaceful meadow on the banks of the river. The free parking is a huge factor in choosing this hotel as parking is so difficult in the city.
Location out of the city but not too far.
Staff cleaning the rooms in the afternoon/evening yelling down the corridors at each other and again at 9AM. This, in addition to our talkative neighbors heard through the suite door as if we were all sharing the same room, made for a sleepless night.
Size of room & comfort. Facilities- pool & gym. Complimentary minibar. Location- River walk into town Bathroom size & excellent decor. Cleanliness. Breakfast choice & service. Excellent wifi (as rooms in main area)
Noise of bin/glass bottle stores being loaded at 6.30a.m below our rooms (200 & 202) Rooms not quite ready on our arrival.
It was a nice place but nothing special and wouldn't necessarily go there again if I wanted a special break away. But was still a nice stay.
Place seemed a little worn. But still nice.
Hotel short walk along river from the city. Staff helpful and very pleasant. Good hotel. We ate in bar and food was lovely. Will certainly stay here again.
Size of room Clean Good parking
Food in bar was just average quality but expensive
good bar great leisure centre good location on the Thames tow path and convenient for oxford centre
Walking along the river at back of hotel into Oxford town centre
Been woken up at 6.30am with the fire alarm going of and having to go outside in the cold
The building is very nice
The décor needs a face lift and the springs on the bed went into my back
