Decent food ok for one night if your picky it's not for u
value for money , food was good ,location , size of room
bed was very lumpy /uncomfortable / shower kept turning off after about 10-15 seconds tv needs updating freeview was very poor
Everything was better than expected.
Thought the games room could have been done with a good sweep of floor and tidied up.
The price it was cheap but staying here has made me think again when spending so little.
Nothing it was horrible. The room didnt look like it had been cleaned properly at all.cobwebs and dust on walls skirting boards and all round the door. The bed and towls looked like they hadn't been washed smelt dirty. I put my jumper over pillow to sleep. had springs digging in my back. Walls are like paper could hear next doors whole conversation. The whole park is dated and needs refurbishing big time. I just wanted to get out of there. Just glad I didn't take my 2 year old son there. Would never return. Very disappointed
You have to bear in mind this is a holiday camp and not a not a top class hotel. Indeed we stayed here in the 80s in the days of all the competitions - Miss Pontins, nobbly knees, bonny babies, etc! Can honestly say the chalets are a lot improved nowadays. We only stayed two nights and the total cost for the two of us was £72 half board - probably paid more than that in the 80s! We were supplied with towels. We had a fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle and kitchen utensils. We didn't get tea or coffee supplied but there is a shop on site and supermarket nearby. Chalets obviously old but clean. Electric heaters in bedroom and bathroom were quite sufficient and it was a cold weekend. We travelled to the camp by train and bus. Frequent buses to Kessingland and Southwold stop outside the camp. Lowestoft Gt Yarmouth & Norwich other direction. Food was good - of course canteen style. Several choices. Maybe vegetables too soggy for some! Jacket potatoes/salad as an alternative but these did seem popular and limited. Entertainment in large dance hall is good. Resident lady on keyboard played music for dancing. One evening we had an excellent 'Katherine Jenkins' style opera singer. Didn't test out swimming pool or day time entertainment. Bluecoats seemed friendly - joined in with dancing, etc.
We could feel every spring on the mattress on our bed but, speaking to other people, they didn't have any complaints so maybe we struck unlucky. Put us off staying longer. Would have thought it would have been better to improve bed quality and not add mini kitchen as wouldn't think many people use this with half board. Not sure though whether self catering is offered.
Been to Pontins a few times now . Good value stay. Plenty of food, good facilities. Friendly staff .
Didn't like the bed linen that was provided. Hours of food being served not long. Queues in bar sometimes .
The bed had no eadding between you and the springs. Got bruises to prove it. Food was disgusting. Television so small you couldnt see it from the bed. No easy chair to sit on. Grounds needed litter removing. Bar glasses still outside after 2 days.. Poor poor poor. Wouldnt go there ever again let alone recommend it. My family laughed when they knew we were staying there. They live in Lowestoft
We only stayed for 3 nights to visit our family in Lowestoft so the park was very near and handy. The chalet was very comfortable and clean and the food was very good.
When we arrived the girl at the desk could have told us a bit more how to open the front door of the chalet. It was written on the window how to lift the handle but it was very dark and I had to go back to the reception to ask but they were very helpful and send someone, it could have been avoided if they told us a bit more in the beginning.
location good and staff nice, but cheaply paid
having to clean chalet when we arrived. Fridge noise keeps you awake during night. Mirror position by front door allows people to view your bedroom. Shower on push button and runs cold. Shower allows water onto floor. Food supplied was basic and cheap ingredients.
room clean tidy warm
evening food hot bar the food was cold
Poor facilities, badly signposted once on site, dirty bathroom in poor state of repair, cheap bedding that didnt fit, paper thin duvet, bad security as we just drove on to site, parked and went and had dinner without even booking in, and nobody stopped us. Anyone can just pull in and use the facilities, and to think people take small children there !
Cleanliness of the chalet (we were in a classic double), provision of tea/coffee making facilities, kitchen area,
size of bath (we are both quite tall and couldn't fit in the bath, had to use the seat built into the bath) comfort of the bed (was quite hard, mattress was quite thin and could feel the springs) There was no remote for the tv in the room which my partner found irritating as couldn't change channel easy (temperamental buttons)
Couldn't fault the food value for moneyw
Where do I begin coffee box tasteless bed linen thin and cheap mattress very thin night entertainment very mediocre staff just about spoke not Pontins faulty noisy neighbours shouting and tv on all night
We going back next weekend location;only a 20 minute bike ride from Lowestoft train station :))))))) size of the room and the small kitchen ( we never get that at butlins) b&m homestore/garden centre, Morrisons, mcdonalds and pizza hut a 5 minute bike ride away very good size bathroom pool seemed a lot cleaner than any other we have been to beds made up on arrival FREE CRAZEY GOLF(ONLY A DEPOSIT OF CHALET KEY OR CASH IS NEED plentys of bars and reasonable prices 1-main venue starlight bar 2-princes showbar 3-the queen vic 4-the seaview bar
No coat hooks in room(be nice to hang our coats up somewhere) £5 minimum card spend (most place now longer have this policy) men's changing room(closed due to health and safety reason) no access showers tv in room too small, and only 5 channels the male blue coat who could not sing( I think he may have been the entertainments manager) crazy golf needs some tlc (a lick of paint and a few repairs)
Good for a couple nights stay with lots to do and easy to visit other towns near by.
The rooms could do with a re vamp and a good clean.
Did not think we would enjoy a holiday camp - how wrong we were!!! We had a great weekend. Staff were very cheerful and pleased to assist. Food was much, much better than we expected - remember this is a holiday camp not a 5 star hotel. Food was hot, plentiful, reasonable choice and queues not too long. Facilities were excellent, chalet had fridge microwave, kettle and toaster and all china a cutlery. There was also a supply of coffee, tea sugar and whitener. We will definitely pay another visit
Towels and bathmat not supplied - luckily we had foresight to take our own. Would have been nice to be told beforehand.
We travelled with family and stayed for one night to attend a family party, but wished we could have stayed to experience the evening entertainment. But would very much like to return in the future.
We liked the location and proximity to the beach and amenities. The staff were helpful and all the good facilities on site were close at hand. We liked the sports and games including swimming facilities although we did not have enough time to make use of them all. There was plenty of food to go around also.
I did not like the shiny bed linen and the fact that there were no towels in our room. A bath mat would also have been useful. We asked for chairs which were brought to us by helpful staff promptly. Bar prices at night for bottles were not cheap. The two main course choices for dinner did not seem to change very much and the puddings were a bit bland. We would have made use of the Sea View Bar had it stayed open in the evening and not shut at 4 pm.
Facilities in room and food was excellent
Lumpy bed. Think they need to invest in mattress toppers.
You were not greedy with your bar prices and the in store prices were fair.
Toilet fans did not have a timed cut offs
Relaxing break. Food improving with every return we make ! Excellent value for money
Evening entertainment on this particular visit not for our generation ( 56 & 59 ) more for th over 70's
Staff friendly and helpful
Food. Swimming pool cleanliness. Swarms of ants in apartment. Rubbish entertainment, particularly Best of British Wrestling, god help the rest of us, but it made the Bingo look exciting. Restaurant queues. Childrens arcade redemption of tickets.
Dinner and breakfast was much better than expected. Entertainment in the evening. Bar prices very cheap (compared to other places) No wonder the place was packed!
Bed springs poking through mattress. Hot water tank running all night (didn't stop until 6 am) I am slightly deaf but kept me awake and I was Very tired!
The food was very plentiful and tasty..good wholesome cooking. Serving staff were so patient with customers and obliging. Some of the evening entertainment was first class. Blue coats were talented and willing. Chalet was newly decorated and new fridge, kettle, toaster and microwave. Bedding new, comfortable and clean. Holiday park well tended. Price of alcoholic drinks cheap during happy hour 11am to 7pm!! The price of our stay was very cheap and fantastic value for money!
Plastic covered mattress..yuck! Sweaty and rather narrow. Adjoining door to next chalet is paper thin!! Noisy neighbours caused friction and disturbed night. Needs walling up with soundproof material. Bingo each night, but it was popular with most people. Mix up with a requirement to bring own bedding and towels but Booking.com guests don't need to at present. I sent a query by email which was not answered.
food, entertainment, club chalet, all good!
bed was a bit small, need more choice of beers,
