The seafront Ellan Vannin Hotel overlooks Douglas Bay and Douglas Beach. The hotel is 1 minutes’ walk from the beach and within 5 minutes’ walk of the ferry terminal and bus station.
Score from 407 reviews Fabulous
Overlooking Douglas Bay on the Isle of Man, this hotel has a piano bar, a health club, and a large conservatory that features panoramic sea views.
Score from 327 reviews Very good
Overlooking the magnificent Douglas Bay, this beautifully refurbished 3-stars hotel is ideally located in the heart of Douglas, the island’s capital, just a few minutes walk from the ferry terminal.
Score from 236 reviews Very good
On Queens Promenade in Douglas, The Edelweiss is a long-established guest house with sea views. It is only a 5-minute walk from the Manx Electric Railway and Horse Tram Terminus.
Score from 211 reviews Very good
Restaurant and breakfast Staff very helpful. Lovely receptionist very helpful
Noisy when people leaving Casino in early hours. Hence lack of sleep. Spoilt a lovely weekend
Loaded with amenities and pretty good location
noise from the bottles being emptied below in trhe morning
Breakfast was very good, staff were all very friendly and helpful. Standards of cleanliness were very good in all areas. Reception was smooth on both check in and check out.
Some areas of the hotel need to be refreshed, the ceiling above the swimming pool in particular and the car park areas look a bit tired. There was an issue with the cleanliness of pint glasses in the main bar.
The service and staff are good ,also food is very good
Rooms are very small bathroom are the size of a small cupboard beds hard
View from Dining Room Good firm beds
Required twin beds for 7 nights. Only twin room available was Room 342. Very small room with only 2 small drawers and narrow wardrobe. impossible to completely unpack and nowhere to put our 2 suitcases except on floor or on beds. This is not what one expects from a suposedly 4 star hotel. Unable to change room. Very poor value for our actual room.
Excellent location on sea front and good parking
Rooms tired and dated, shower mixer difficult to regulate Double glazing doesn't keep noise out from promenade and doors didn't lock to balcony Furniture needs updating and wi if is a constant cause of irritation as it rarely works
The location in the middle of the promenade. The staff were excellent: friendly and provided good service. The restaurant ran like clockwork, very well organised. the food was good and good value.
The facilities, although good, were quite dated.
The key cards become deactivated if near any bank cards, which we weren't told when we checked in, when we went down on 2 different occasions to get them re-coded, the staff didn't even ask for a surname of the booking, just provided us with a key card to the room - bit worrying as we could have been anyone! The beds were so squeeky, I kept waking myself up when I turned over. The room smelt musty, so we kept the window open all day
The location was perfect as it was more or less in the centre of the prom so good for both ends of Douglas. There was a horse tram stop right outside too! The sea view was fabulous, wall to wall windows facing the sea. The staff were helpful when issues arose. Our room was quiet.
The bathroom was pretty awful. The shower had no power and it was hard to adjust the temperature. The space for a person having a shower was so narrow the curtain kept sticking to our backs. The sink plug wouldn't work - I had to find the lever under the sink to get it to come out! The kettle had a hole in it but was replaced when we asked and the key cards didn't work - also remedied as soon as asked.
good parking facilities, central location, reasonably efficient staff.
rooms at the back cold be noisy, people leaving casino in the early hours most of them not exactly young, shouting like teenagers! the quality of the food was not brilliant, sort of upmarket works canteen.
The sea view was well worth paying the extra for. The meals were good. The staff were very helpful and attentive.
The shower ran hot & cold and the curtain clung to your body needs up grading with bath screen.
Food very good and all food was hot
Room being on the back
Location was quite good, 10 min walk into Douglas town centre. Breakfast was okay
Rooms were clean but shabby, ring marks from cups on furniture, different colour paint on walls where they have tried to cover up marks, beds were uncomfortable. rooms quite small. Restaurants in town very expensive
location and availability
We were in Douglas for the Classic TT so the room was a good size for all our biking gear.
Hotel is tired and in need of a face lift.
The breakfasts were very good. Excellent choice of food available. The beds were comfy and rooms very clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
As I was on holiday, I didn't appreciate the fact that I had to stand in a smoking shelter for a cigarette. There was space available outside to the right of the reception area which could be tidied up and a couple of tables and chairs put there.
Great location. Free parking. Breakfast good.
This is not in my opinion a 4 star hotel. WiFi not very reliable in rooms. Beds not very comfortable. In general the hotel looks tired and in need of some love and attention.
Decent size bed
Too noisy due to noise from air com units below window and noise from other clients
good hotel near to town centre. lots of facilities.
bit of loud noise throught the night from guests
The housekeeping and bar staff were friendly and very helpful Lovely view from the dining room Accommodation booked at the time of the races so appreciated the fact that we were able to book a room for a family funderal.
The decor of the lobby and entry extremely tired. Carpet was very shabby, Not great floor covering in the bedrooms either. Hotel not up to its 4 star rating. Bathroom clean but basic cheap white tiles. Poor decor for the 4 star rating. No lounge. Unsightly car park view from bedroom. Poor value
Our room with the sea view was amazing. We have visited the Isle of Man on numerous occasions, and this is certainly the best hotel we have ever stayed in.Even better than the Sefton. Can't wait to come back next year!!!!!!
We didn't like the Carvery meal. The soup was served cool. After being returned to the kitchen, it was still not hot.I chose Sicilian meatballs and found the carvery vegetables were not a suitable selection for that dish ie new potatoes, etc etc.
everything in room very clean and fresh, breakfast is good value at inclusive rate, restaurant has a wonderful view over the beach and the sea, bar food was also good, helpful staff.
internet in our room didn't always connect and slowish, quite a long walk from the ferry terminal and shops.
room was clean and comfy
reception and bar area showing wear and tear
