When considering the price-point, the positives far outweigh the negatives and, as mentioned in the "likes", would not put us off from booking again.
The building is a converted house (part of a terrace) and not a hotel, so is more a bed and breakfast. The decor, therefore, cannot be compared with the clean simplicity of a modern chain hotel.
Wooden sash windows with internal secondary glazing are not as "easy" to open/close as more double glazing (though at least there is the option to open the windows).
That said, all this is very clear from the description/photos and came as no surprise to us.
The fairly small "breakfast window" (8.15-9.30am) could be a bit limiting but worked fine in our case.
Great location just back from front within an easy walk down to promenade & harbour and up to cliff top gardens with great views over Scarborough.
Cheerful and helpful owner. Pass provided FOC for very local parking in controlled zone. Comfy bed, decent electric shower, TV, kettle. Good FEB served within 10 minutes of sitting down at breakfast table.
We'd certainly return to the Palace Hill Hotel which cannot be faulted for the price.
