Quite a lot of the hotel felt run down, especially the bedroom and bathroom
The staff were excellent
Paper thin walls in the rooms, allowing you to hear every word of a neighbour's conversation or other activites... Then at 6am the central courtyard is filled with reversing lorries and what sounds like workmen throwing scaffolding around.
More expensive than staying in London and didn't even include breakfast!
Firstly, the receptionist informed me that breakfast was included in the charges. I was billed for breakfast during checkout. Going to the room, the heater did not work at all! Although given a heater set later, the room was still cold. Then during the night, we could not get some sleep as it was too noisy as if there was a disco in th building. Overall, very disappointed that after being charged £339.00, the quality of Premier Inn is much much better.
The hotel looked grand, as did the lobby. Location was good, within 10 minutes walking distance of the city centre.
A number of things bothered me on my stay. The trains caused a terrible amount of noise though the bedroom, as did the air vent in the bathroom. The rooms were average, cleaniness was ok. I wouldn't return to this hotel, looked better then it actually was.
Very poor breakfast ran out of food at 9am
Amazing building, large room, large bathroom and lovely rooms. Good location
Hairdryer didn't work. No one answering room service. Limited toiletries in rooms. Beautiful bath but leaky and stiff taps. Long wait to check-in. Only 30mins free wifi
Room clean Staff did their jobs Bacon & sausage at breakfast. Public rooms have interesting architecture.
Should charge much less for rooms adjacent to railway line coming from nearby Oxford Road station where audible trains can be heard throughout the night Patched carpet on mezzanine and general scruffiness in lesser seen parts of hotel. Dingy & cold lobby, dingy restaurant. Couldn't wait for visitor in bar area as that was full of a group event, so nowhere else to wait but dark & cold lobby. At breakfast on first day my chair had to be changed as it was very wobbly and about to fall apart. Couldn't get knife through hash brown. Forgot to ask for tea/coffee & toast until near end of meal. Second day was better apart from cold plate. Interesting that having recently stayed at another PH hotel, the faults are similar - not good value for money and TLC needed in maintenance issues.
Fabulous interesting building. Our room at the front of the hotel was warm, spacious, very high-ceilinged and had a fireplace. Location is great for Manchester City Centre and there are plenty of coffee shops around if you don't opt for the hotel breakfast.
The bath/shower was very unappealing. A glass of wine in the bar is unbelieveably expensive.
The room was really big, clean and had everything we needed. It was within walking distance to the shops. Staff were very friendly :)
Next time we won't park at the NCP opposite! So much cheaper to park behind the hotel ..... Not sure if the hotel site shows this ......this is no fault of the hotel though
The hotel was very clean
The staffwho checked us in gave us our card a no, then went up 2 our opened the door walked un and there was a young lady we give her a fright. We had a fan out side our window and it went on all though out the nite and a skip witeh glass bottles in and people throwing bottles in most off the night and we were nere the loading bay si me and my misses did not get no sleep.
The building was absolutely stunning
prices in the bar
love this building stayed there many years ago and like the changes yes it's a warren of rooms but that part of it's charm will definately stay again
Architecturally speaking, It's an interesting building.
Acoustic was terrible. I was in room 105, I believe on one of the main corridor that gets you out of this maze. I didn't sleep at all. I could hear all the clients and staff passing by. Shower was hot in the morning but rather cold in the evening. Lighting in the room wasn't bright enough. Value for money, therefore, is really poor.
Room condition poor, no heating on arrival, no towels in room, bathroom condition appalling
Room large and comfortable. Food very good.
Bathroom a bit old fashioned.
loved the buildings, decor, friendliness of all the staff, we were very well looked after.
Our bathroom. It was large and elegant but the water connection/taps to the bath leaked, the water at 8.15am was tepid and the light was dreadful for shaving at the basin - should be simple things to improve.
Massive crack in the sink. Small, dingy room (despite a reputed upgrade to Deluxe Double!). Didn't feel clean. Poor lighting.
Large room clean and pleasant staff. Very close to a main line station so easy to get to and only 8 minutes walk from the Royal Northern College of Music
My son was there for an audition for the Royal Northern College of Music and I had specifically asked for a quiet room and told them why. He was woken up 3 times in the night because of the sound of the trains and this ruined his audition and he didn't get in!! To be fair there was a very big conference on but this was a lifechanging moment. Don't stay if you are auditioning - fine for parents visiting their children though as long as you are not driving!!
Spacious and quiet
The loose fixtures in the room and the fact that the kettle didn't fit the power point.
Beautiful large room. Great location. Loved the period features in the room. Walking distance to pubs theatres restaurants and shops.
No ITV channels on TV. Wi Fi should be standard in all hotels. If estonia can give free wi fi then surely this country can!!!
Very spacious room. We had 2 double beds which 4 of us shared. Comfortable stay.
Staff responded well when we told them it was cold.
We were upgraded but the corridor and room were cold.
the hotels history, the original victorian tiled walls and pillars, the grand entrance. And a.very good value room rate
The old style rooms with the high ceilings are excellent like no other room you have stayed in
The bar prices are totally off the scale
