Not much really apart from location On enterance the hotel looked grand and inviting that is until we went into our room, which smelt musty looked like it had not been decorated in years and didn't look like any of the pictures on the website that we viewed when booking the room. While we we there we had to ask to change the items on the drinking facility tray, they looked like they had been there for years and the packets were dirty and broken !!!!! The window frames were disgusting and covered in cobwebs and we couldn't open the windows at all ! Which may of been a good sign considering trains were going past throughout the day. We even didn't want to hang our clothes in the wardrobe incase it made them smell too much What annoys me the most is we chose this hotel from viewing their website. The pictures looked really inviting but our room was obviously not taken to promote any room for this hotel!!!!

Location was good with close by car park. Our room was quite large The room was right over a rail way line with trains travelling past every few minutes. The hotel was mainly tiled making it look like a giant public toilet.

Excellent central location close to shops and restaurants if you want them although I wanted a complete break and was not disturbed. I slept well. Spacious bathroom with a deep bath. The tv in our room m12 kept turning itsel off when we wanted it on and on when we waned it off. The walls in the room could use a lick of paint.

It´s a very nice building, fantastic location and great for meetings. . 24hours room service. The reception staff is very kind and proffesional. Big rooms, confortable. The Bar staff and night staff is really very bad, They deal with you like if they were god and also laugh customers if they don´t speak propper english. Really not nice. The food at the restaurant is not the expected for that hotel. The housekeeper doesn´t clean the room properly (i was there 5 nights). Also the personal of the hotel go into the room anytime even if you are working to check the room. In two afternoons they came into the room 4 times, and I still don´t know why. The hotel is great but the staff, except reception it´s really, really, bad.The price-quality is not the expected for a PALACE hotel.

Very grand! Really makes you feel you are somewhere special. Amazing hotel but my only complaint is that the bed was very soft and not very comfy at all. Shame considering everything else was so nice.

The Staff are friendly, polite, helpful and overall interested in their customers. The Hotel welcomes and more than adequately caters to the special needs of mobility restricted guests.

I thought it was an excellent hotel, superbly located right in the city centre and literally across the road from Manchester Oxford Rail station, which made commuting to the airport so easy. Also a short walk to the tram stop in St Peter's square which made getting to the football quite easy.

We loved its quirkiness! Our first impressions were of a "cold and impersonal interior". BUT... our lasting memories will be of a historical treasure with modern, luxurious accommodation and excellent service.

I thought the design and layout of the large bar area was rated outdated and lacked intimacy.

Room was tiny, it is a good thing I am short or the bathrook would have been impossible to use. The bed was narrow any large person would risk falling out. When I did use the bathroom the cold water function on the basin wouldn't work.

It was relatively central. Breakfast is good even though it could be slightly better. It's not a four-star hotel but a three-star one.My room was on the ground floor but a bit too far from the reception.

The location- within walking distance from the train station. Also, the hotel staffs were very helpful and cheerful. My room was completely different from the picture in the website. One of the reasons I booked the executive room was the contemporary room design shown in the website; hence my willingness to pay more. When I checked again, my room design was that of the standard room. In this sense, I was rather disappointed. Secondly, we didn't have a safety deposit box in the room, which is a common hotel facility nowadays. It was also stated in the website that safety deposit box was one of the room facilities.

The size of the room was excellent the style of the hotel with its victorian splendour was lovely the food was enjoyable and the staff very pleasant The drinks like so many hotels are overpriced. Its a shame hotel bars feel the need to excessively profiteer from drinks

Lovely Building but in need of some serious re decoration. The first room we had been put in was really dirty and smelt of stale cigarettes. We had been moved to another room which was better but smaller. I have stayed in many 4* hotels this was no where near the standard we are used to. More like a 2*

“The Midland is in a great location, I stayed for my Boyfriends birthday treat, the Xmas markets were round the corner which was easy walking and central to get round Manchester. The Midland was clean and the rooms were a good size and comfy beds. We were given a free bottle of wine with our room rate and we ordered room service for the morning, as they were late we got it free of charge, food was lovely and hot. A great stay..” Lorraine, Manchester |
