Central location, the hotel is smack dab in the city centre. The staff was very friendly and polite. The room was nice and clean. The stairs leading to the wing of the hotel we were staying were a bit smelly (due to humidity, mostly). That part of the hotel probably needed a bit of renovation works, but our room was perfect, so it's just a minor problem. |

I visited the hotel with 3 of my friends. We all loved the features of both the public rooms and the bedrooms. The hotel was convenient for restaurants, city centre, bus stops etc. We are well travelled but the Palace Hotel came top as "The hotel with the most character" We loved it. The staff were particularly helpful. |

The room size. When we arrived at the hotel the room was cold. We asked could we have the heat turned on. We were informed that it gets turned on at 10pm at night however as it was 4pm in the afternoon they would send up a plug in heater to us. An hour later it still had not arrived so we called reception. They informed us that there was one in our wardrobe. When we checked there was a fan not a heater. We called back down and were told they would send one up to us. Another hour went by and still no heater. We called again and asked for one and were told they would send one up. It never arrived and the heat never came on at all. There was also a bad smell in the toilet. The room size was very good. It was a very dark room with small windows. |

I liked that the train station was a short distance away. I also liked the fact that it was an old hotel and had lots of character. I loved that it had Joey armchairs from friends. That the keys continually didn't work. |

I had a quiet room. There was all the time a very unpleasant smell of humidity in the lobby and the corridors. There is no wi-fi and the hotel charges an additional 15£ per 24 hours for broadband use in the room. Given the expensive rate for the room, charging for Internet access is, out of principle, a liberty. |

The ceiling height of the room was fantastic Tempus bar was over-crowded with a function - very little attention to resident guests. |

The breakfast was really good The receptionist who dealt with us on the Saturday night was not helpful. We went to the hotel late and I was not sure whether she felt we were not coming. She told us that the room that I had booked on line was not available and that she was offering us an alternative until the Concierge Manager (I only know the first name as Martin) got involved. He really was very helpful. we did not get our additional bed but because of Martin we settled for what we got. |

The room was very comfortable and a very modern design. The food was excellent and the hotel is very centrally located. On checking out the receptionist tried to charge for something which did not apply as the room, dinner and breakfast had been paid for in advance and the evening drinks in cash. In the end we weren't charged but were still made to feel uncomfortable as if we were trying to get something for nothing. This did rather spoil our stay at the hotel, which was a shame as it was our first wedding anniversary and therefore special. |

The staff not so friendly on arrival, for example, as I didn't have a credit card they weren't prepared to let me check-in even though I had the cash to pay up-front. This resulted in another member of my party using her card, I feel that this should have been noted before my arrival as I used a debit card to secure my booking. |
