Shower didn't have much power.
The room was spacious and comfortable and the reception staff were pleasant. It was also good value for money if staying as a couple.
There was no cot in the room for our infant. Late on in the evening we requested one, it arrived and was placed outside the door for us to assemble with a quilt on top. No sheet or pillow for our son was provided. As a result I refused to put him in the cot. Our friends who we travelled with had an identical experience with their infant. The children were very poorly catered for.
The room size was good with nice decor and the air condition was much appreciated. As my booked was room was not ready i was able to pay for an up grade and check in straight away.
Due to an older building or previous use of building the lay out seems very dis jointed to get from one area to another. I have limited mobility found the steps to different levels even on the ground very difficult.
Wonderful building, like staying in a museum. Size of rooms, large opening windows. Great staff professional and friendly.
No extractor fan in bathroom. Gave up on WI FI - competitors have free open access WIFI - maybe small fee, the sign up business is annoying.
Everything, loved it and will be back
Price of restaurant
Room was comfortable
All of the lifts go to different places and none to the same floor. No plug sockets in the room No access to wi fi Had to have several different room cards issued as they didn't work
Good location, great rooms a building with history.
On the day they provided my friend, the bride, with complimentary cakes and a lovely bouquet of flowers- a great start to a fabulous day!
This historic building was absolutely fab. The room was spacious and modern - lovely. The breakfast was really good value for money. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay there again.
I had a suite at the palace of which was very impressed with the room and it's spacious living. Good place to stay
The location is perfect and the staff is very friendly and helpful.
The room was a but noisy and outdated.
Nothing at all!
Didn't sleep at all due to the proximity to the railway line. Very disappointing! Had to move rooms three times, and even had to pay to upgrade to a supposedly better room, but still had trains passif by the window all night, and the sound proofing made no difference!
proximity to Canal st and train stations can't be beaten. friendly staff; very spacious rooms; comfortable beds and furnishings; very good shower; ample baggage storage; big towels.
no bar fridge (but with an empty cupboard labelled "fridge"!) , floor tiles cracked in bathroom & some others loose; some dust on high rails and fittings; signs in corridors can be confusing , especially with a distant room several corridors away ( cleaning staff were happy to give directions though!); wifi was fine but having to re-log in was a bit annoying.
We were staying over as we were having a movie weekend at the Odeon and so glad we did! It was so comfortable and luxurious, and the shower was wonderful and the building itself is just beautiful, the architecture was breathtaking. The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially the lovely gentleman at the front desk. We had breakfast which was lovely too and the location is right in the heart of Manchester yet we had a lovely night of uninterrupted sleep, I have already recommended to my friends and we'd love to go back for longer!
For a deluxe room our view of the other wall of the building was a little disappointing.
Renovate the rooms
Breakfast is good - lots of choice. Location is excellent. Architecture and decor are awesome.
Lack of WiFi in bedrooms. Pancakes are available for breakfast but aren't on the menu. Lifts are slow.
Amazing room (5113) double height, arched windows on 2 aspects, felt a bit like a church
train noise, paperwork didn't explain wifi access - reception helpful and sorted but shouldn't have been necessary
Staff Comodities Value for money Location
The fact that one has to pay to use the internet in times when wi-fi it's essential.
Location is great. Style / decoration of hotel is fab.
Restaurant menu - different menu given to the one that was outside, couldn't pick anything off it then!! Rooms heated with plug in heater
Not double glass window and too noisy with trains.
After paying a lot to stay in the hotel I would have appreciated if I didn't have to pay ridiculous prices just for wifi
I like the environment here in its old fashioned building and surroundings. Definitely value for money, would recommend to anyone.
Its hard to find your way around it is like a maze but a nice maze :)
This is a beautiful building if you appreciate architecture that alone is a good reason to stay there. I read th reviews and upgraded to a superior room and was not disappointed, it was massive, well decorated and furnished, controllably air-conditioned and quiet with a very comfortable bed and adequate wifi. The staff were friendly, helpful and the English breakfast was of good quality and served but a limited continental selection was available if that is your preferred start to the day
The secure (24 hour manned) but not private car park is at the rear of the building and no rear exit to shorten the walk which, in bad weather, could be a drawback. I was told it would cost me £8.50 but, perhaps due to my late arrival, it cost £5.00 for the night.
Great location, historic building, nice size rooms.
Room had only wired internet which frequently didn't work. No wifi in rooms, so completely useles for a business traveller working on an iPad - false advertising on their website about this. Bathroom seemed laid out in a silly way - it flooded frequently even after a 3-min shower. Staff weren't that knowledgeable.
