My wife and I went to Manchester to catch a show at the Palace Theatre which is literally across the road from the Hotel. The rail station is a couple of minutes away so all in all the location was ideal for us. Staff at the Hotel were excellent in manner and service; the room was spacious and comfortable. We will definitely use the Palace again.
There wasn't anything we disliked for our one night stay.
Amazing building, nice staff, great location for Manchester City Centre
Victorian single glazing, plus student nightlife, plus proximity of freight trains makes for a very noisy stay!
Magnificent building, although the tiles give interior a feeling of a Victorian public lavatory. The location is great if you are taking the train to Manchester Airport the following day.
No WiFi in room, unable to open window fully to let in some air.
The spacious room and good location.
The breakfast menu had limited choices.
Location and friendly staff, big comfortable rooms and good shower
long walk to room & signage a bit confusing sometimes. a second back door entry ( or at least exit) to building would be good as this is such a sprawling hotel. bar fridge was a cupboard ( with no fridge!) cracked tiles in bathroom need more repairs
Everything that's why we keep coming back to the palace!
excellent room which was very comfortable and staff were helpful and friendly
The architecture is amazing Room was quiet even though the hotel is central. Staff very friendly and efficient Lots of choice at breakfast Fab! Rooms very spacious
Hot chocolate available in the room please for bedtime :)
architecture bar area
Original features in the reception area and restaurant Choice of breakfast menu - very good value for money Location was perfect for Manchester City Centre
Inability to open windows to get fresh air in the room. Oscillating fan just moved already musty air around. Meant a lack of sleep from either the noise or the heat. Shower water went everywhere if you attempted to move the shower head. Gaffer tape to seal rips in the carpet.
Reception area and building itself was lovely. Bed was incredibly comfy.
Room was in need of refurbishment. No hot water so was forced to have two cold showers during my stay.
Being down in the servants room next time would upgrade, but it was a fab room, and we like a view,.
Location was excellent, right next door to where our show was at palace theatre and opposite the train station. Plenty of restaurants and bars to choose from in the area. Room was very good and quiet. Sevice in bar was excellent.
Breakfast was a bit disorganised and set out of the buffet confusing. The hot food was being served which meant my wife and I and a few others did not see the fruit etc available until you joined the queue to be served hot food. Cereals and juices etc were at the other end of the room where I would have expected all the cold food to be. Hot food was not kept topped up very well.
This hotel is amazing I couldn't fault the beautiful place. The staff are very polite and well spoken.
One thing that lets the hotel down is the wifi. Nowadays wifi comes free with your hotel since we all need it in day to day life. Here you only got 30 minutes free! I really feel it should be free unlimited
The Hotel has been refurbished to a high standard and many of the original features have been kept. It has a modern feel to it but is an old building. Our stay was very pleasant.
The check in was very slow. Needs to be improved.
Very central to Manchester city centre
Our room overlooked the railway line and it was far too noisy
1.The of the room. 2.The cleanliness.
1.The location of my room is far away from the elevator I need to go down using the stairs.
Central, convenient to book. Room enormous, bed comfy, and building beautiful.
Noisy, and room hot (with less than effective air con)...Also magnetic key card temperamental (a problem for a smoker who has to nip out at 3am!)
Very hot Windows dont open
Tired; lacking individuality and soul
Great building, I had a wonderful bathroom, and the location was perfect for arriving by train and for where I needed to be. Great public spaces and spacious rooms with character.
Room was too warm and heat/ air could not be adjusted. Slightly disappointed that the menu in the restaurant (a wonderful space) was basically burgers and pizza.
decoration is outdated+cleaning wasn't good.
Great location and very friendly and helpful staff. Rooms are spacious with very high ceilings and the bathroom was very good.
The room was so big it's hard to warm it up. WiFi was quite bad and kept disconnecting.
The size of the room
The bed was broken, no fridge in the room , no creams in the bathroom, the simple details were missing
