Breakfast Plenty hot water in bathroom Staff very helpful for our group, re lecture, buffet, etc Bizarre - paying for parking! It's in the hotel grounds, and just a pain at the last moment. Very bad PR The creaking of the heating from c.6 am onwards was very very intrusive. Unless locked from inside, loo door didn't close fully. Need quiet coasters for bedside.

The staff were really lovely and were very friendly, they couldn't help enough. Staff were clearly working hard to keep the hotel as clean as they could. The breakfast was very tasty and the beds comfortable. The hotel was in a great central spot. The hotel was quite tatty and was in much need of repair. The swimming pool was out dated and scruffy.....1960's public baths came to mind.

The situation of the hotel, the comfort and the friendliness of the staff. My wife enjoyed using the swimming pool. The bathroom was perhaps a little smaller than we would have expected from a 4-star hotel, but we were paying a bargain rate.

The location. Public areas were not too bad. Room was extremely dated and tired, bordering on shabby. Bathroom equally tired and needed grouting. Restaurant was absolutely not 4 star. No A La Carte menu as is the norm for 4 star. The table d'ote menu was very poor. Food was of a very cheap quality/really basic at best. Breakfast was equally poor, the hot choice was cold. This hotel does not compare with others we have visited, even those which cost less. the star rating needs to be reduced with immediate effect.

We enjoyed our stay because everyone was friendly & helpful it catered for all ages. The bathroom was a bit small. Our original booking was not on the hotels computer so we had to pay twice & they had to find us another room which was quite stressful.

The view? Drab room, poor Spa facilities and pool, breakfast, evening meal poor quality, cost of room as it was cramped, dusty and had insufficient toiletries & damaged bath panel. Spa deal was not good as one on offer at hotel was for more treatments for less money! Not enough lifts. Very disappointed.

Location. Architecture of Building. Service Room facilities. Other Guests. Beds were very old / uncomfortable. bathroom dated. needs modernisation. There was a wedding on - no issue with that - but younger wedding guests were allowed to smoke right outside the front entrance. Wedding guests should have been kept away from the reception area.

The era the hotel is from , its position and its size. I would thought with a hotel this grand they would have served Tea and Coffee at the breakfast table rather than having to use a machine.

The decor in the main entrance and dining room was impressive and the food was excellent. The reception staff were extremely helpful The bedroom was meant to be refurbished. This meant new carpet and wallpaper. The bathroom was dated and had mastic on top of mastic The paint was also peeling from the wall above the bath.It was not worth the money we paid for the room

Not much Staff didn't seem to know what they were doing I was charged twice for accommodation and had to call when I got home to sort this out. We ordered breakfast in the room for 8am but had to call several times before it cameand it came at 8.30 we were late for our event. The hotel needs a major refurbishment

The location is superb for Buxton and the High Peak.the ground floor rooms are stunning with high decorative ceilings Our room overlooked the large extractor fan at the rear of the hotel which was noisy at night. The room was small and previously a twin room now with a double bed so head boards did not meet with the bed and only one bedside table. Not a room we wanted to spend much time in

Good staff who responded to any requests, and stop the music of a noisey neighbour. Needs revamping, restuarant did not inspire us with its antmosphere, but we found a number of good local ones.

Really good staff and an excellent breakfast. Location was perfect, central to everything. Looking a little tiered and in need of a refit. Having to pay for car parking in their own car park.

We were very kindly upgraded to a suite. Beautiful big suite, made our stay very comfortable. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful, could not fault them. Breakfasts had good selection and good quality. Hotel is a beautiful traditionally decorated hotel, although some areas look in need of a face lift, in particular the swimming pool area. Pool itself was fine, but paint work around glass etc in need of repainting.

Convenient for Buxton centre. Good choice at breakfast buffet. Décor extremely tired and old fashioned. Double bed was only a standard so too small. Bathroom 30 years out of date. Staff hard to find - young and because too few, rushed off their feet. Communal areas vast, impersonal and lacking in style or atmosphere. Too many kids everywhere.
