Location and comfort. One night stay in a luxury hotel with excellent food. Beautiful scenery and good place for walk about. Only one bar was open a place like this expected a comfy lounge bar.

The helpfulness of the staff and the central location of the hotel. The pedestrian exit from the hotel grounds is either via a steep path with a number of steps or via the hotel car par wich has two barriers. Neither is suited to someone in a wheelchair or on crutches as I was. The hotel seems totally unused to catering for disabled guests. It is in need of urgent refurbishment since it looks shabby and badly maintained. Hotel guests should not have to pay £4 plus per day to park their cars in the hotel car park. This is not a four star hotel.

It was a very relaxing hotel and short stay As i'm disabled we we're parked in the disabled bay against the enterence and everybody seamed to like to hover at the side of our car to smoke. If they want to smoke then maybe it would be a good idea to set an area for them to do so as against the enterence is not a good advertisment for the hotel. Also whilst there one of the staff did not know how to use the ramp properly and when my husband said it was upside down she was adament and arrigant she was right and the worst of it was she was telling a younge woman that was learning how to do it also, all the other staff used it properly

Excellent location. Desk staff were excellent and friendly. I think the room I stayed in (231) was probably saved for the 'Offer' customers. It was shabby and unloved (wallpaper peeling off, cracks in the celing, dirty windows, bathroom looked like it could have done with a good clean, TV remote broken) Not really what you would expect from 4 star accommodation.

We were 3 people in 2 double rooms. Initially, dinner for 4 was pre- charged on my card but we spotted that and corrected it.In Room 254, the wet towels from the previous occupants were still hanging on the hook behind the door and our new toilet rolls were leaning against the door in the corridor- presumably we were to put them in ourselves. I asked at reception for the towels to be removed whilst we were at dinner and the bathroom checked to see whether it had been fully cleaned. Nothing was done. I removed the towels myself. We were not welcomed at the dining room- staff at the till kept their backs turned away for some time as we waited for someone to acknowledge us.

We have had a lovely spring break at the Buxton Palace Hotel. The rooms were comfortable with new beds and furniture. The ambience of the hotel was great. Stylish entrance hall, high ceilings in all rooms and a swimming pool that was not overcrowded. The restaurant served excellent meals in the evening, and we were spoilt for choice at breakfast. It would have been nice to have an a la carte menu in addition to the set menu.

Staff were exceptional, very friendly and attentive Spa was excellent, as were there staff. Bar area was comfortable and friendly Breakfast was excellent and again the staff were exceptional Weather was very poor which resulted in draughts from the old windows, but no more than you would expect from an old building.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Charming hotel at first sight, like a palace. Comfortable beds. Good breakfast variety. Unbearable mould odor in the corridors, paint peeling off the wall, impossible to air the room as windows cannot be opened. Horrible watery hot chocolate. Expected a bit more value for 150 euros (price for b&b), but I guess the maintenance of such a place requires a lot of money, hence these prices

Convenient. Ok for an overnight stay Just thought the hotel looked rather 'tired'. Didn't help as only two other people in the restaurant on Thursday night so no atmosphere

On arrival reception was freindly but had no local knoledge. ( not his fault) It was close to the venue we had tickets for. The breakfast was nice. Very disapointed with our room the bed was only a double and uncomfotable and when making it the next morning found that the sheets were stained, bathroom although clean did not make me feel like I was in a spa hotel in fact I felt that as we had a special offer we were given the worst room. That said I did not see any other rooms so it could be they were all like ours.

The service we received with regards room service was bad, it took 40 minutes to contact room service including 2 calls to reception (which took at least 5 mins to answer). When the food arrived the majority of it was cold and the wrong wine was delivered. Much of the hot food selection at breakfast on the first morning was also tepid, with some of the dishes empty. The room was a little shabby with paint scratched and mildew on the window in the bathroom. We paid for a premier room and felt disappointed in what we received. We did make a complaint to reception who promised to pass this on to the duty manager.

Excellent location , beautiful building. Staff were excellent and very accomodating to any requests made. Room cleanliness wasn't good - bath plug hole blocked with hair was one problem. Whole hotel is historically very grand but unfortunately it is looking tired and in need of some renovation and updating. Decor in rooms is stuck in the 1980'S.

We stayed at the hotel many years ago and knew it was convenient for the Opera House, where we saw a play while we were there on this visit. The entrance and stairs are very smart and the room we were given, as an upgrade, was very good. - But there are parts of the hotel which could do with a good clean/smartening up, such as the bathroom and the leisure complex.

Very friendly staff and good service. Excellent location in Buxton and reasonably priced. The bed was wonderfully comfortable. Great range at breakfast too. The hotel decor is a bit tired, but it is in keeping with it's age and it is reflected in the price. Having said that it is true to origins, having been built in 1868, so it is built on a grand scale with a magnificent central staircase.

Perfect location in beatiful Buxton and near all attractions, shops and restaurants. Impressive looking hotel, comfortable and clean. Good breakfast and pleasant staff. We would stay there again Lift was not working and we were on the top floor. We felt it unreasonable that we were charged to park our car having paid for our stay and a bar bill. Shower only giving cold water however bath and basin plenty of hot water
