We were very dissapointed with the swimming pool, whilst it was clean and appealing when you actually got in the pool the water was very cold, the reasons for choosing the hotel was that we had our grand children who in bad weather are happy to swim and given they had a swimming pool it seemed to be the ideal choice. It was so cold one went in for 30 seconds the other along with my wife lasted one minute. I did complain at reception who did apologise, but given the cost of the stay is that enough, I don't think so and will be writing to the hotel asking for some form of compensation for loss of enjoyment. Regards Roy Taylor

This hotel has improved in every aspect - we have been visiting for many years! The service from every member of staff was friendly and helpful. The room was clean and had everything we needed. The food is now exceptional in quality and presentation. The value is excellent with a bottle of house wine (of which there was plenty of choice) included in the price for dinner. There is a monthly menu but additional choices each evening. We enjoyed our stay - we just like one night away at a time but want to do that on a very regular basis and will choose the Palm Court every time as well as recommending it to our friends and family.

Lovely relaxing public lounge area with fresh lillies and glossy mags Bedrooms were too warm to be comfortable in and the swimming pool is more like a play pool suitable for children rather than a pool for adult swimming

Staff friendly and helpful. Good breakfast. Communal rooms attractive. A step away from the town centre and views of the sea. The lift worked fine but my wife felt slightly nervous. Disappointed no view from bedroom window other than brick walls.

Worth upgrade to executive room - made all the difference in terms of comfort. Excellent location and breakfasts. Stupid idea to only set the four middle touching tables for breakfast. A huge great room with four couples squashed up in the middle. Love watching someone sitting closer to my partner than I am, eating a sausage mouth open, while they listen to my conversation.

The location, car parking and breakfast was excellent, and we would certainly consider staying there again We thought that a charge of £2.40 for a bottle of water to be a rip off seeing as we could buy 2 bottles for 50p in Wilkinsons!

We had stayed there some years ago and been very happy. It is,apparently, still owned and run by the same family. We like the convenient location - close to centre and seafront. The free car parking is a great bonus. The staff were all attentive and friendly. The food was excellent. Because we were out walking alll day each day, we did not manage the pool this time! Our bedroom (20) was very nice but it was exceptionally warm (I think this is under consideration). Also the pub across the road was rather noisy after our bedtimes.

We were really impressed with Palm Court. The decor is beautifully done. Our room was a a good size and a good standard with everything we needed. Great tv and tea and coffee facilities and having a sofa and chairs was an unexpected bonus. The staff were professional yet very friendly. Breakfast was also superb particularly the service. The building itself and the reception rooms were also impressive. Not complaints but suggestions:- - There is a bit of a musty smell as you come in. It is at odds with the nice decor and more like a guest house. - The windows in our bathroom were black with mould. - The swimming pool was quite cold. - We stayed in a family room (room 39). Our sons single bed was next to a large single pane window which went down the the floor. For safety I think there should be some kind of barrier.

On arrival reception staff friendly, helpful and informative. The hotel has private car parking, and very close to shops and harbour. Rooms are clean and comfortable with hairdryer trouser press, tea and coffee making facilities. Breakfast excellent with plenty of choice. Palm court is a friendly family run hotel and well worth a visit. Room we stayed in the hose on the shower could have done with renewing more water coming out of the hose than the shower head.

“It is a wonderful building with a rich history, the price was spot on, I took my mother with me and as she is 84 I politely pointed this out and requested a sea view for her, we were both given Premier rooms with big windows superb views, I would recommend room 34, level -2. The staff were very good and the buffet breakfast brilliant, my mother enjoyed her first cooked breakfast for 15 years, bless her. A big thank you to all at The Grand Scarborough” Paul, Boston Spa |
