Score from 1326 reviews Very good
I got a four bedroom bed this time, which was great, there was more room and I didn't have to sleep in a bunk bed The wifi was great There's a lot more available sockets in the smaller rooms
Only one sink with four toilets I couldn't find anywhere to refill my bottle with drinking water
The lounge, the curtain on each bed
The narrow ladder to acceed the upper bed
Almost everything you'll need for a comfortable stay in London for a reasonable price.
Actually i can't say anything bad about this place, except maybe housecleaners that can easily take some of you stuff you've left near your bed.
Nice place, the bar attendant was very nice.
Bunk bed in the twin room. We were told that the room we booked was composed by a bottom double bed, and a top single bed. There for We went with it.But it was 2 single Bunk bed. Not nice for a couple.
First of all want to stay a big thank you to the following staff members, they always welcome me. Sue, Noelle, Kevin, Karl and Paula. Their was a problem with the iron, and Christian had it sorted under an hour. Thank you guys.
Everything for me was perfect
WiFi is good and free but doesn't work in dorm rooms. You can access the hotel with Greenline 757 bus from Luton airport. The whole hotel is very clean, especially the toilet is very clean, which I am very particular about. The location of the hotel is just the perfect. Its close to bus and tube (swiss cottage).
I'll admit that when I got off the national express me and my friend got lost for a half hour. We had no idea what direction to go in and went the wrong way. Having asked a local where college crescent was it was easy enough to find. Checking in was quick and easy and the dorm was lovely. We stayed in the 9 bed double room and it was very clean and quiet. Only negative was the bed only had one pillow and I happened to be right beside the door and woke up any time people came in and out which was frequent. The hostel is very clean and great facilities. So close to the underground is a plus and within a few hours we were pros. The lounge area is great to kick back and relax. I plan to come back in February and stay here again.
Only one pillow and the beds weren't to be desired.
comparatively clean close to underground self kitchen
so many ppl in the room the whole house is old wooded building
hostel is very warm. good that you can have tea and coffee on tap.
the hostel could and should do much more to ensure that the bedrooms are quiet. firstly rather than the occasional notice asking people to keep noise to a minimum, they could state much more assertively that people should not talk or rattle noisy plastic bags in bedrooms. something should be done about snoring. people who snore can't help it but then they should not stay in shared rooms. it isn't fair for all the people who lose a night (or more)'s sleep. finally the hostel would benefit from a shared kitchen that guests can use to prepare their own food.
The whole thing was good.
None .. However the heating in the room was not really good. I reported the issue to the reception and they sent someone to fix it and got better yet was not warm enough.
The location of this place is excellent ... a stone's throw from Swiss Cottage tube ... and the communal areas are very good (well equipped while preserving the character of the Victorian building). Also the curtain around each bed allows for a certain amount of privacy and it's a feature a lot of hostels could incorporate.
The biggest downer is the communal kitchen. It's far too small ... allowing only one person to cook at a time ... only has microwave ovens (though these may be combination ovens) and no hob (a small electric grill is available). There are large chiller cabinets for guests' food but I don't think there was a freezer. It seemed that they didn't want guests to cook there own food instead of using the hostel's own bar that does food. Another negative are the bathrooms. There aren't enough sinks and there's nowhere to hang or store your stuff while you're washing, shaving, cleaning teeth, etc.
open 24/7, easy to reach, ok breakfast for the price, very kind staff, excellent wifi, liked an access to city maps, guides etc.
my bed light was not working, so it was kind of difficult to operate with phone light during dark hours
I liked the room (002) that I was in and that is was very quiet. I also liked that Palmers Lodge is so close to London city center and yet not so expensive.
I liked my stay so I have nothing that I didn´t like.
curtains around beds, big and beautigul lounge
it was cold in the showers, but the water was hot
loved the friendly atmosphere, very relaxed and welcoming.Nice bar and verandah.Good cheap food and very generous breakfast
- nice guys at the reception - comfortable and clean place - bathroom not crowded and always clean (cleaning 5 time a day) - good wi-fi (even in the room, even if not that good) - tea and coffe for free in the common area - very intimate and quiet place (I was in a 14 bed female dorm) but at the same time you can meet nice people in the common area (which has also computers for the guests) Extra points: - the hostel has a very particular style - is near a tube - the area of Swiss Cottage is really pleasant, full of places to eat and shops - the area is well connected to Camden too, which is nice
nothing at all, I really reccomend this place to everyone! Just few things: I dind't tried the breakfast and the restaurant meals, so I can't say nothing about them
Beautiful building, bed curtains (so you don't have to worry about the light and partially about the noise), lovely breakfast, very kind staff
The hostel isn't in the very centre of London, but still lies very close to the underground station. You also shouldn't bring a big suitcase without a lock there as the lockers aren't very large
The beds were comfy, free coffee and tea in the common room with computer access was awesome. The bar and restaurant was good - so much food for such a good price! And yummy! The privacy curtains around the bed made it all the more cosy once tucked in with the reading lamp on. I'd recommend this place in a heartbeat. It was super easy to get to and from, for all attractions and sights, AND on our last night we went to see a movie at the theatre just down the road. Super chill! :)
The bar and restaurant was strangely quiet in the evenings, but the common room seemed to be packed at night with people on their laptops. What was weird was that no one was interacting with each other - everyone was absorbed in their computer or smartphone.
Almost everything you'll need while staying in London.
There is no stove or oven in the kitchen. Sometimes you can find the hall overcrowded. Internet connection is not always good.
-Affordable -Comfortable Bed -Location was good -Some staff were very helpful (finding places and even printed me out a map!) -Bar area is nice - lounge area with neat patio type seating -Plug on the bed is nice
-Washroom close to us had one shower with a broken light. Had to go downstairs in order to shower. (The showers were actually not bad once you got to them) -One staff was really unprofessional and needs some serious training on how to interact in front of visitors. She was complaining about her work schedule loudly, swearing and even talking to visitors about it/bashing coworkers. Also needs to be aware that if I am standing in front of her at the desk I can see and hear her when she is talking about me and my situation to the person beside her. (sounds basic but apparently she forgot) Really needs to lose the attitude. -Common area is always full and never had anywhere to sit which was kind of annoying but not a huge deal
-quiet neighbourhood. -big enough commons area. -beds very comfortable and do not make as much noise as typical metal beds would. -About an hour and 20 mins from Heathrow airport. cost 3 pounds using underground tube. -Great breakfast for 4 pounds. -You will enjoy this place if you want peace and quiet + free coffee and tea 24 hours in commons area.
-showers on ground floor, where check in is. -weekends cost much more then a week night. Other hostels in London do not do this.
Very interesting building, lots of good facilities, brilliant value for money, great location for where I needed to go (Camden). Bunks have curtains for individual privacy, which is a fantastic feature for a hostel. Good sized lockers, bring your own padlock however. Clean toilets & shower room. Nice lounge to relax in with computers. They even let us store our luggage as we arrived a couple of hours before check in time.
Although the room had plug sockets, there were none next to the actual bunks.
- not cheap, but considering other places less expensive; - young crowd, - lounge room, - cleanliness
- bad wifi reception in room; - small lockers; - not the hostel's fault, however maintenance work on both tube lines running Swiss cottage during our stay, which made travelling tedious and time consumung
Good storage under the bed + the curtains for privacy when sleeping. Quite close to subway and several buses to Victoria and Oxford street.
Difficult to sleep partly bacause the noise from traffic outside with an open window, and people with their phones on the whole night! Noise from doors and when you have a bunk bed close to the door, it´s impossible to sleep. Hard beds, not comfortable at all. Overprice for poor breakfast.Woke up to darkness and powerless everywhere. Staff did not have any back-up whatsoever...no hairdryer, have to pay for everything. New staff could not assist me with the phone. I´ll never return...soo bad..
