Very nice staff, there are curtains on the beds, so you have privacy. The wifi is good, only gets slow in the bar area. Yes there is a bar. The common area is awesome, got to meet so many people while chilling with some tea. Pretty cheap for london.
the atmosphere is still pretty nice
the staff seems busy all the time, and i wait for the queue for the check in for more than 15 minutes
Private bedroom Cleanliness
Staff, bar, location, cleanliness
We stayed in a 28-bed dorm so it was a bit too noisy and we couldnt sleep well. Appart from that the hostel was awesome. Will visit again, in a smaller room
We liked the building!
It was unexpected that neither shampoo nor shower cream were provided. And why should we pay for the shower towels?
The new bar and breakfast room is classy and has a very welcoming atmosphere, although I enjoyed the funky 70s ambiance of the old bar.
I missed Hedia this time. She was the soul of Palmer's--always so cheerful and friendly. If I come back I won't be paying for breakfast. I thought the free breakfast was very good. I really don't like the bar "music" but I imagine I'm the only one. Some nice classical, jazz or blues would be more to my taste.
There are not personal sockets inside the room, even the public sockets in the room are also not enough for use, which is inconvenient for travelers.
I had a great stay, the location is amazing, just 20 minutes walk away from the best view in all of london(primrose hill) and very close to the tube aswell. It was also amazing to meet so many people from around the world just hanging out in the common room, drinking the free tea, truely the best week of my life. the food in the restaurent was also pretty good
I dident like however that the guy sleeping beneath me in my room snorred very loudly which interrupted my sleep alot and caused me to be quite tired in the mornings.
-the building is so beautifull: bricks&wood. The living room was amasing -helpfull stuff
one shower for 20 persons!?
everything apart from the window is really good
Because the window in the room cannot be open, it's really hot and stuffy at night.
Although most of the dorms had a large capacity, there was still plenty of room. This place ticked all the boxes: Really good location Decent WiFi Bar (dart board) 24 hour reception TV, couches Comfortable common room Computers Suit of armour Spacious Pleasant outdoor area
The bars opening hours could be longer, earlier and later. During my stay, there did also seem to be a fair few kids around as part of a school group or something...
The building, the staff, the brilliant breakfast; this was a great hostel. I stayed in a 24 person dorm during a heat wave so the room did get hot, however even with that many people the room was still comfortable and you still had privacy.
The showers were on very short timers and some were quite gross. I recommend going down stairs and using the showers near the bar, they were the nicest.
I really enjoyed my stay at palmers lodge. The starf was nice, i had wifi in my room, free breakfast og nice rooms! I can er comment this hostel for every traveler!!
There were only 1 shower for the whole room. But it was always free when I wanted to go to shower so it was ok for me :)
Not sure if I got bitten, I have some sore/itchy spots/raised marks just around my midriff.
noise level reduced and more breakfast ranges
all think it's good from girls in the reception until the staff in restaurant
some time is very hot because hostel not have air cooling just Fan
Me and my friend bought us in in a 14 woman dorm. It was really great! People respected each other (turning the lights on/off, noise and just being friendly) and then we had the ones with the cabins with the curtain - it was perfect! You got to connect with people of different origins and you also got your privacy. Also we had the collective bathroom just outside the door, so it was nice and easy all the way.
The breakfast table had not much to choose from and was rather boring. But that's only what there's you can expect.
Great place to stay
Noisy beds. You can feel and hear people moving on the bed during the nights
Great place to stay
I spent a couple weeks here on a research trip to London, and I would have left after the first night if my booking were refundable. If you're looking for somewhere to relax and crash in a welcoming environment after a full day of sightseeing, this isn't the place. For one thing, the reception staff wasn't very receptive—a request I made to have my sheets changed went ignored for three days. The place felt corporate, cramped and uncomfortable. Finally, and least tolerably, the poorly-ventilated second floor bunk beds felt like a sauna every night. I woke up every morning in a pool of my own sweat.
The excellent location, the beautiful architecture and atmosphere
The stuffiness of the rooms due to overcrowding and lack of fans or any form of ventilation, made it slightly difficult to breath
1. The facility was good and clean enough 2. Curtains on each bed which made it cozy to sleep. 3. Good price and location. Although the hostel is located on zone 2, it didn't take that long to go the center of London. 4. Near the underground. It's about a 5 minute walk from the hostel to the underground which was convenient.
1. The staff weren't very kind, especially the Korean staff. She always seemed a bit crossed and it felt as if she was ignoring or looking down on the Korean guests.
Great location, facilities, friendly and informative staff willing to help. Loved the curtains on the bunks all got a good nights sleep! Good breakie :)
location is close to metro station.
staff is not very friendly
