The lovely staff gave me a lovely bigger room, the breakfast was good and parking for my car while i was in the city was great - would defiantly stay here again.
Cleanliness Noise Decor Paper Thin walls
Tea and biscuits in the room. Good Wi-Fi reception in room. Useful toiletries and lots of clean towels. Surprisingly powerful shower. Free parking in a covered lot.
Rather lumpy mattress. Bathroom light wouldn't turn off without turning off all room electrics. Chair not very clean. All furnishings must be at least 40 years old.
Felt a bit uncared for in places
Nice clean reception area .
Bedrooms very out dated beds stained and uncomfortable spell in room windows need changing.
Reception staff were excellent, helpfull, friendly and very welcoming.
Rooms were dirty, very old and dated. The carpet had not been hovered, the was hair all in the bed, not been checked and the bathroom needed some serious work
Friendliness of staff. Comfortable beds. Breakfast.
No ironing facilities in room.
Location and how clean the room was. The room was spacious and hotel was beautiful.
The lighting in the room was a bit dull especially where the bed was. So in the evening it was slightly darker than usual.
Elevator out of order. Doors glued by color. A lot of craftsman working.
Breakfast was excellent with a wide choice.
Given a horrible and damp room as first choice. Didn't resemble anything on internet. Noisey residents shouting in the corridors late at night and early in the morning.
Nothing , dirty, tired, smelly place. This hotel will end up as a doss house. We had stayed here before and it was ok - what has happened?
I didn't like anything. Breakfast was a joke. Could not eat anything as we were convinced we would end up with food poisoning.
Budget hotel without the discomfort and budget feel. Good value for money; feels like a motel
Dirt and lime scale in the shower and shower was slow.
We liked the fact the hotel was not too far from facilities, the staff were friendly, had to ask twice though for extra coffee but we didnt mind waiting
the room was smaller than we thought, the shower handle was broken but it didnt stop us having a shower
The manager was great and switched our rooms as soon as we asked. Also very helpful booking us cabs etc.
Our first room was a no star... Old, dirty and the bathroom doesn't even bear thinking about. Once we complained, move to a newly renovated room which was bright and clean. Breakfast wasn't great... but you get what you pay for.
The staff are friendly and helpful. Room was clean bed was comfy IT is handy for the event we attend.
Having stayed here on numerous occasions, I Was quite disappointed to see a fall in standards. Decor certainly could do with a lift. Staffing levels weren't up to scratch if you wanted a drink in the bar you had to hunt down the barman who was doing other jobs at the same time. Having said this he was very apologetic and proficient when he served you. Didn't have dinner in the hotel for the same reason.
Outside of Building looked really nice, as did reception. Reception staff helpful.
Room was like student accomodation. Windows didnt shut. Car park looked dodgy. Breakfast was poor quality and not enough choice.
The location. Easy parking. Spaciousness inside hotel. The price but this does not mean that basic repairs and cleanliness should not be better, much better.
Loose wall socket - dangerous. Dirt all around base of shower tray. Loose toilet flush handle. What looked like mould on wall above and below a window. Breakfast was almost dire and very poor quality, did not have it second morning. Overall the hotel is in urgent need of many repairs, a lick of paint and a thorough clean.
Checking out in the morning.
Photos were nothing like the reality. Hotel room was tiny, basic, old & in need of major refurb. Corridors dark & dingy, carpets looked 100yrs old. Bar staff went missing for ages so couldn't get a drink & left. Set in a rundown part of town. For some reason constantly high numbers of North African/Asian/Persian people hanging around the sofas in reception area outside the bar, by the lifts, on the stairs & main entrance. Pretty sure part of the hotel is a centre for asylum seekers, it was very strange. Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone at all. Entire place is a complete shambles and needs shutting down for a year and a 100% refurb.
The room was very basic. We were told we had a new refurbished room, so if this is one of the better rooms I'd be worried what the other unrefurbished rooms look like. Mirrors were poorly positioned so getting ready wasn't easy. Both the bed linen and towels were stained and after our first night the room was not cleaned. Telling the hotel staff was pointless as they clearly were not interested. Also getting a bottle of water or any refreshments is out of the question. If you want to iron your clothes, your sent down into a unfriendly part of the hotel where you can iron. Also a lot of uncomfortable looking people around the hotel. Don't know if they were hotel guests or not as there is no hotel security. I wouldnt stay here again
I liked that through booking.com the rates on some of the rooms were fantastic, I have stayed at this hotel 3 times over the last 2 years and have always enjoyed the comfort and high standard of rooms.
I requested a room with a bathtub as always and instead of the usual high standard of room I was used to seeing we were offered a room much smaller than the rest I had seen for a double. The shower connected to the bath had a very low pressure, the room felt cold and unwelcoming as it was not as highly furnished as others in the hotel. Those remarks aside the main reason I wouldn't recommend after my last visit is the very noisy hostel next door. I could hear screaming from young girls and loud rowdy arguments in the street till nearly 4am. There was also a the smell of cannabis in the landing where our room was located, and a male sat on the front steps of the hotel smoking it without anyone requesting him to leave. I'm really sad the standard of our room had slipped but even more sad about the type of crowd the Paragon Hotel is attracting today.
Just hot water
Bad dirty smelly carpets. Bad matress,
location price car park clean
people hanging around on stairs etc no hot water at times
