the bed was comfortable and the bed linen and towels at least were clean and fresh. the television worked. there was no problem with the staff.
I last stayed at the Paragon a few years ago and appreciated it as a good value budget hotel. I was shocked at how it had deteriorated in that time, it looks shabby, in need of maintenance and has a generally 'run down' feel. the room was cold.
the girls on reception Charlotte and Rebecca were brilliant. Beds were comfortable. Shower/bathroom was clean maybe this had recently been fitted.
the room generally was a little tired the windows were draughty, the lock on shower/bathroom was broken. The shower head holder was broken so this could not hold the shower head even though this all looked quite new. The table at breakfast was extremely wobbly and seemed very unsafe. The whole interior of this building needs some money and time spent to make it acceptable.
The staff were friendly and helpful. The room clean and comfortable. The location was quite close to centre and there was secure parking.
The bathroom was clean but a bit tatty round the edges - but perfectly usable.
I like good time
I do bot like bad time
The hotel is very close to the Institute and this was good for us as we were going to a gig there that evening.
Reception staff were not welcoming in the slightest and everything seemed like an effort to them (even asking them to call us a taxi). The rooms are very cold, dirty and dated. The door handle to both our rooms did not work. Hotel is located in a rough/run down area so did not feel very comfortable.
Shower was broken
Location ideal to where we had to go
The heating was not working, and requested to get moved to another room, of which was worse. No one available to fix the radiator. Rooms were outdated, showering facilities were broken. People smoking above us and could smell it in the shower through vents. We advised staff who were relectant to investigate. No food available in bar and gave us take away menus instead! Toilets were not cleaned on the day we checked in to the next morning. Appalling.
Free car park. Comfy bed. Warm room.
Room temperature was at most 10°C at time of arival and room took two hours to moderately heat up. Upon request, delivery of a second blanket was promised, though it never arrived. Room was located on the fifth floor, which currently resembles a construction side. Highly unpleasant atmosphere.
Staff friendly and helpful. Extremely cheap.
The shower curtain was dirty, though the staff did replace promptly. The room is dated and basic. The shower needed a good clean/reseal.
The staff were helpful
There are so many things o fidnt like, it is dirty and dated. Please look in your kettle before use as mine had dirt and mold in it. Rooms are very very small. Please read the reviews and not stay there.
Hotel was NOTHING like pictures. Worst place we have ever stayed. Prison like hallways, mould on the ceelings, dirty tiny shower, broken door, musty smell, smallest double bed. Would never ever stay here again.
Obviously the hotel is going through some major changes, the rooms are ok, and the staff (especially the breakfast staff) helpful and happy. The room I had was small, but had all the facilities of other hotels at twice the price and met my needs. Breakfast was good, with it being served on a quieter day and buffet style when busier. Plenty of selection and set me up nicely for a long day.
The rooms are tired and worn, but I look forward to staying here when they have all been refurbished. The car park can be really busy and hard to get parked, beyond the hotels control is the way inconsiderate guests park or abandon!
The room and bed were adequate, the bathroom however was incredibly dirty, walls and floor were appauling, and damp, mold and flaking paint on the ceiling.
The receptionist was helpful and apologetic.
First room we were given was beyond terrible("dresser"(ha) hanging off wall, light fitting over shower hanging out of ceiling etc etc. Second room marginally better but the party in the next room kept us up all night, could not contact reception, eventually went down, to find the police there, because of underage parties going on.
The staff were nice
The hotel is nowhere near worth the "original" amount of £90. We paid 40 and it was barely worth that. It has the feel of a hostel. Things aren't clean, you feel like you need a shower after staying here but don't feel clean after showering in their shower. Would never stay here again
Reception was nice. The restaurant was nice. Breakfast was good
The first room had a crack in the ceiling from the front window continuing to above the shower, ceiling was flaking into the shower. No heating, no flat screen TV, 2 out of 3 lampshades broken, something missing from the shower (holes in wall).
Cheap but awful.
Rough area with prostitutes. Nothing worked properly. Hotel is falling apart. Needs gutting and a refurb, but why would you want to stay in this horrible area!?
Nothing!!! This hotel is the most disgusting place I have ever seen!!! It's full of weird people lurking around and in the slums of brum!
I hated everything!!!!
Basic but exactly what we required. Hotel needs a bit of TLC but we couldn't recognise the many bad reviews we had read, it was OK. Staff were helpful, room OK, breakfast great value and very nice. 10 minute walk to the bullring. Ideal.
The cleaning staff were nice and helful.
The reception girls weren't carefully at all.
The bar was open
Had two rooms with cold heating third room had heating but in shower water was cold
Any of it.
The bed was comfortable, and the bathroom had a good shower!
The heating was not easy to follow and did not work properly
