Excellent choice of places to eat, pubs and cafes. Good range of shops with butchers and bakers as well as a Spar convenience store.
Bowden hardware was a real highlight, an alladins cave... Something for everyone!
The main reason for our visit was the local walks, Fenworthy Reservoir and Castle Drogo were two we enjoyed, would go further next time.
Very dog friendly area.

Such a pretty market town, Lots of independent shop and cafes. Plenty of scenic walks. Chagford has an outdoor fresh water swimming pool set in very scenic surroundings. Breath taking views of the surrounding countryside. The town itself is bursting to the seams with very old buildings and cottages (some thatched) and is steeped in history.

Chagford is a small town east of Dartmoor with plenty of thriving independent shops. Several pubs including the Three Crowns. An art shop/bookshop, art galleries, great deli and a wool shop, not selling wool specifically but selling wool en products.
Plenty of walks in all directions from the town.

The historic charm and its peaceful location made this a magical experience, full of the village experience. Staying in a pub for the first time, we loved the friendly and casual atmosphere shared with locals. It was almost like visiting family. Just about the entire village is within walking distance. Parking was a bit difficult, especially when raining, but that's common for a small village.
The Globe Inn is definitely eclectic and has its own style - but even though the decor was not to my taste the place was immaculate, the staff were really lovely, we had one of the best roasts we've ever had and the breakfast was lovely. Lots of spare pillows, beautiful little village with some really sweet local attractions like Castle Drogo and if you have young children the Miniature pony centre is just down the road and a really lovely day out.
The room we stayed in was fabulous. The layout was good as was the decor. The room had a coffee pod machine in, with pods and coffee bags too, along with a range of other hot drinks. There was also a fan and fascinating wall art that had photos of the town from yesteryear. Good choice of food for dinner from the restaurant as well as breakfast. Staff friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend and would stay here again.
It is clear the people running and working at this establishment care passionately about their reputation and standards of service. They make a lovely hotel very special and we will definitely be retuning! Great food, lovely room and superb staff! Really nice touch having reserved parking spot with your name on for the superior rooms. Can’t recommend that upgrade enough for the stress it reduces with parking in Chagford.
Everything is so stylish yet simple, and beautifully curated in the bedrooms and the cafe. We had a great sleep in a gorgeous room, and a tasty and generous breakfast of poached eggs with bacon, and with avocado for breakfast.
It was such a treat to be hosted by Posy and Matt; every moment and every detail of our short visit was truly exceptional, we couldn’t have chosen a better place to stay in Chagford.
A stunning homely stay in beautiful surroundings. Chagford is idyllic and has superb and interesting shops. We loved our stay. We felt so very welcomed by our host and within the village of Chagford. A very arty, relaxed, friendly and up-market feel with excellent everyday shops mixed in with amazing artisan shops. Something for everyone.
It’s a lovely hotel in a beautiful setting. The staff were courteous and professional and the food was first class. It doesn’t come cheap but we had a wonderful two days and hopefully we can return at some time to enjoy it again
Wrenscott is a super little cottage. Very compact but with enough space for a couple to enjoy a lovely stay. The location is fantastic it is just a short walk into Chagford which has great pubs, shops, cafes and little stores.
Accommodations were quite comfortable. Location with view of the churchyard was lovely. We especially appreciated the shower. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Meals—breakfast, dinner—we’re excellent.
A fabulous example of a traditional British pub/inn. The building is lovely and of course rooms reflect the nature the period property and the location in Chagford excellent in this part of Devon.
Breakfast not applicable. There are great cafes in Chagford so it was good to take a walk before breakfast. However dinner was fantastic and my dog and I were made to feel most welcome.
