Park Head Country Hotel and Restaurant is situated in the heart of County Durham and offers a warm, friendly welcome and free Wi-Fi. The spacious and comfortable en suite rooms are mainly set in a traditional courtyard. All feature a plasma Freeview TV and radio channels and tea and coffee making facilities. The bar offers more relaxed dining options, with a lunchtime menu and homemade classic dishes, served with an extensive selection of beers, wines, spirits and speciality teas and coffees. A carvery featuring four joints of finest, locally sourced English meat is also served on Sundays. Guests can relax and unwind in the beer garden, which also has a free children’s play area. The Park Head is ideally located for exploring County Durham and offers discounted entrance to the famous Beamish Museum. The hotel has free, secure parking and is 15 minutes’ drive from the centre of Durham, with Durham Cathedral and castle. Nice people very helpful and friendly, they offered to change my room for one with better signals but once I'm in a room I'm reluctant to move. Food was good. Mobile phone signal is poor and in my room was non-existent, wifi signal is at best fair, in my room I could log on but had no internet access. But they were having trouble that weekend so it may have been temporary.

The staff were very friendly and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. the room was large and wonderfully warm during a freezing cold snap. It was very quiet when I was staying and the bed was very comfortable. I was visiting my daughter who had been in a serious accident and the night I brought her to have dinner in the hotel the staff were all lovely and couldn't do enough for us to help. Nothing to dislike really for the money it was brilliant value.

Well decorated clean room and warm. I thought it was excellent for the standard advertised. Staff were helpful and friendly. I asked for a wake-up call at 9.00am Sunday morning and didn't get one. I also live in a town, so having a room that backed onto a field of chickens with a cockerel that crowed often completely disrupted my sleep as I am just not used to it.

The staff were very friendly and the food was very good. The bar was nice to have a meal in and a drink in. The shower was not powerful.

friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Receptionist first class, both friendly helpful and efficient. The food was excellent and the bar and waiting staff exceptional.

Staff very good, helpful and friendly. Bar meals excellent value for money, and drinks reasonably priced.On the whole excellent value for money and hence we have booked a return visit in December. We were given a room in the Courtyard and from what we gathered these rooms are in a better position than the rooms in the main hotel which is very close to the busy main road, so we could have been disappointed had we been allocated a room there. Our room was away from the main road and therefore we had no problem with noise from the road whatsoever.

It was really close to main roads and easy to find, not too expensive! The room we stayed in was above the laundry room which was quite noisey! We also could hear 2 of the staff have a very long personal conversation in said laundry room...

Location and Olde Worlde looks. Staff were not that friendly. Breakfast not that palatabel.
