Room was big and very clean. Friendly staff and interesting lay out around a quadrangle. Comfortable, and excellent value for money. Rooms and decore slightly dated, but undergoing a program of refurbishment. Great base for us, visiting relatives in and around Durham. would thoroughly recommend.
Very limited wifi in courtyard buildings
We had three rooms in the main building, all were very clean and tidy. We had a meal and a few drinks in the comfortable and friendly bar. A carvery was available that night, one of us had Chees special curry and the Sticky Toffee pudding was to die for.
WiFi was a little slow but that would be a function of the location so down to BT for that
The courtyard was very nice, our room could have been a bit more up to date but it was clean. The staff were very helpful and the food at the bar was excellent as was the breakfast. The location was good for us as we were visiting High force and then off to Durham
Thought the hotel was in need of updating as it was warn and was maybe a bit drab in colour. First impression in the entrance wasn't very appealing but thought we got what we paid for
Excellent, customer-focused staff. Good quality food. Perfect location for our purpose. Safe car parking. Comfortable, quiet accommodation.
Not keen on motel type accommodation (i.e. movement between reception, restaurant and bar to and from room means going outside). Not an issue on this occasion, given that the weather was superb.
good location, some friendly staff, warm and comfortable rooms
would not eat there the food was poor quality and it was like eating in a works canteen
Staff friendly, food excellent, refurbished room, location good for local business travel
Noisy in mornings Bed a little too soft for us - down to taste
Sunday lunch was very good, staff friendly
Was quiet grounds peaceful clean good food wifi all you needed really.
Meeting was very friendly offered to carry our bags to the room
It was a little dated but hey what do you expect for the money! Prices in the bar i felt were expensive.
Everything. Staff cooked a meal for use even tho nearly 10pm. Lovely location and room was very comfortable . Will certainly stay here again. Prices very reasonable
There wasn't anything to dislike
Lovely place. Very friendly staff.
Stayed with my young son, staff were excellent considering his boisterous nature. Very friendly place to stay
Fantastic food, reasonably priced. Friendly, helpful Staff Easy to find Nice setting Play park for our son. Ample parking.
Friendly, helpful staff. Nice bar. Large car park.
Room in need of an update
large clean room, staff friendly
food expensive , not may veg options. wifi service not reliable
Staff were very friendly. The room was clean.
The fixtures, fittings and general decor in my room were worn and dated. The breakfast wasn't very good - egg was terrible.
Very Helpful staff, friendly, great bar, nice courtyard, plenty of parking, good location
Full English seemed like it had been cooked quite a while even though we were one of the first in for breakfast. Tap dripped most of the night however refurbishments are currently being done to upgrade rooms. Taxis in Bishop Auckland are rubbish however this is not the hotels fault as the receptionist tried for 5 minutes to get us one!
food carvery room bar/lounge sitting area
noise from steel staircase
Staff Courtyard Food - esp the beef Price
