very nice hotel excellent carvery, Room very clean and bed very comfy.Very good price. All good,
The accommodation was in conveniently located in a quiet location. The ground floor room was spacious, warm and clean. I liked the fact that there was a bath that I requested and that the food was good and available on site.
Comfy bed Large bedroom and bathroom Very clean Really tasty evening meal and excellent breakfast - with very speedy service Wifi in reception/restaurant very good
Wifi in bedroom very weak Decoration a little tired - could do with a face lift (but all very comfortable and clean)
Excellent warm and comfortable room. A very tasty evening meal and a lovely breakfast.
Difficult to find entrance from road in the dark.
Breakfast was good.
Wi-Fi didn't work, rooms need some investment.
Friendly helpful staff, food in bar was excellent and good value. Rooms clear and cosy
Possibly a bit out of town for walking but not a major issue
Does what it says on the tin. Staff very helpful.excellent value for money.has everything that you would need.
My sister and I went up to bishop Auckland for an overnight stay. The staff were so friendly and very smitten with my Saint Bernard. The room was perfect and we were given a downstairs room to accommodate for the dog. Excellent central location for a walking trip.
Staff and parking
Character of the place and surroundings. Courtyard setting was appealing and didn't fail. Food was good quality and served efficiently. Free wifi was welcome but see other comment.
Not easiest place to find as signage outside coming from Bishop Auckland side was not clear. Wifi in the room was rather weak although good that it was free.
Friendly and helpful staff at reception and in the restaurant.Room was nice and quiet and the bed very comfy
Vegetarian menu limited and you have to ask for cuttlary and napkins and condiments
Had forgotton cuff-links, but the receptionist helped out by finding a pair. Later when the bar was closed to the public, the night manager was more than helpful & dropped what he was doing in the dining room to come & serve us & about 6 other couples.
Room was clean, pleasant and comfortable. Staff friendly and welcoming.
Entrance to car park not obvious from the road. Breakfast limited.
Good value for money. Clean. Pleasant staff. Very helpful.
As dog owners we were not allowed to take the dog into any part of the main building, a more extreme attitude than we have found in any other hotel. This would have been ok if there had been comfy chairs in the room. Very grubby carpet in room. Finally, make your own tea at breakfast from water in a vacuum pump dispenser that had clearly fallen below boiling point! This not France!!!
Staff were good, helpful and pleasant. Food was nice and Wifi in my room was good (room 9)
Too far away from town
The staff at the hotel were all extremely friendly. Breakfast was tasty - better on the weekend as it was cooked to order rather than left out on the buffet. Good sized room and heaps of parking.
The wifi signal was incredibly bad and unable to be used. The shower in our room was either stone cold or boiling hot with zero middle ground. No fridge in room, poor lighting. Had a late night out and the phone number provided was not answered in order to be given access to locked gates.
staff were very helpful in all respects
1. Wi-fi very, very slow. 2. Phone to contact reception didn't work - went directly to ansaphone with a repeat message echoing the first. Had to phone the hotel on my mobile to speak to reception. 3. Not enough milk in the room for tea & coffees
Very friendly staff. Excellent value for money. Private and very quite. Will be revisiting again on my next business trip.
This place has lots of character and the staff are lovely. They welcomed our little boy, which was great. Good value for money.
I think the room could have been a little cleaner and needed a new mattress but was ok. The room was the only thing holding them back from being a four star, i believe, as everything else was excellent. The room was still ok though. Good size.
Friendliness of staff
Basic but clean and great value for money
The staff were really friendly. Evening meal was very good and breakfast was awesome.
No heat in my room and the hot water was Luke warm and didn't get any hotter! Shower was luke warm to.
Hotel and grounds layout/location Good size room, very clean with nice views Excellent food and friendly helpful service
Water pressure a bit low on shower
