The comfort of the hotel.
The only concern was there was a constant low humming sound throughout my stay, which disturbed my sleep.
Breakfast, sauna and steam room. We complained and the manager was very pro active in dealing with this. We are going to stay again and give it another chance.
Very poor service at breakfast although I was feeling sorry for the staff by the end as everybody was complaining. Very frustrating when you have to ask staff for everything at least twice.
i thought the hotel was very good. clean. nice parking area
thought the bed was very poor.
Beds comfortable. Room good size. Manager, I believe, present at breakfast polite. Breakfast good, both sauna did not work. I asdked at reception twice. Told it would be switched on.variety and cooking.
Leisure facilities a joke. Pool freezing, impossible to use. A female with a membership to the facilities also refused to swim and was pleased when I said I would complain. She was tired of doing so, so this was not a one- off problem. The sauna did not work, I asked at reception and was twice told it would be switched on elsewhere. In over 30 minutes this did not happen. Third time was told it wasn't working. No-one cared about the facilities at all or took responsibility. An arrogant "duty manager" waffled about a new pump in the pool and would need time to heat up. I checked the following morning and nothing had changed. The grounds were pitch dark and it was dangerous to attempt to move beyond the lit up reception area with safety. A fire assembly point in the garden was in complete darkness. An overdose of reception staff, when we first arrived there were 7 staff milling around and it felt like trying to access a high security unit rather than a hotel. Not impressed at all. All front and no substance. Would not recommend to anyone at the price. Would be a decent enough business stop off point at half the price, especially as guests had to walk out in all weathers to get to breakfast as no access from hotel.
On arrival check in went smoothly, staff seemed feriendly and roothat was assigned to us seemed clean and comfortable. Breakfast on the first day was fine
On the second day there were too many customers to be served breakfast in the main breakfast room which was OK except that the "overflow" dining room was not set up properly and we had to go back through to the main room to get stuff like juice and cereals etc. We sat for over fifteem minutes before anybody even came to take our order and then another half an hour before our breakfast appeared, during which time the only thing we managed to get was a cup of tepid, stewed tea which we took ourselves from a large pot that had been left to one side. While we were waiting for our breakfasts to arrive several other people were served, but on each occasion and every occassion the order was wrong and the food had to be sent back. When our breakfasts finally turned up they were over cooked and cold - truly the most disgusting mess that I have ever been served in a hotel, and by this stage they had still not even managed to bring any toast. When I asked for the duty manager so that I could make a complaint I was told that he was "busy" but that hw would come as soon as possible. After waiting for twenty minutes I went off to find the duty manager, only to find him sitting behind the front desk "busy" on a computer. After a serious session of complaint the duty manager eventually agreeed to adjust our bill (and those of some other customers who had been waiting to see him). On check out there was a twenty pound reduction made to our bill, but this was only the costs of the breakfasts which I wouldn't have paid for anyway - having admitted that we should not have been given service and food that was way below standard I would at least have expected some compensation for completly wasting more than an hour of my time!
Attentive polite staff
Furniture and carpets worn and Devore needs up dating
Nice buildings in nice grounds, quiet, food, friendly staff, plentiful car park. Would definitely use it again.
Although I asked for a non smoking room, didn't get one. That said the room did not smell of cigarettes.
As it was our wedding anniversary we wanted somewhere nice in a village type location and the hotel didn't disappoint. The room was nice, bar staff were friendly and the breakfast was lovely, we would stay again.
Food was excellent in the restaurant, bed was one of the most comfortable hotel beds we have ever slept in.
Needs a little updating. Nowhere to put suitcase only on floor, no bedside light on one side, lighting in bathroom needs updating.
Staff Pool Food
Noisy Fans outside window. Threadbare carpets Dated decor
All the staff very helpful. Room service very good and quality of food with room service very good, fresh and accommodating, made me up a salad which was not on room service menu. Again for breakfast, i requested omlette which wasn't on menu and chef accommodated and was lovely. Would actually go back and eat in restaurant, as impressed with quality of food eaten during our stay. clean and spacious hotel. beautiful building.
Nothing much to dislike to be fair, couple of things i would possibly change. tea/coffee facilities good, but biscuits in jar, would prefer sealed packet, for hygine. dble ex. room advertised with mini bar, which was empty, i asked for couple of vodka and tonics to be put in and they only had large bottle of vodka, so offer beers and wine, however did bring me up a vodka and tonic to the room. beatiful spacious room, but fairly empty, just little touches i felt would make the hotel stand out. Also the shower leaked, so hardly any water coming out of shower head.
Rom 23 was excellent overlooking the front of the hotel, very comfortable
Very friendly and helpful staff. Convenient for Telford & Shrewsbury
Understaffed when busy causing delays at breakfast
good value, excellent breakfast, friendly staff, spacious room, individuality - not like chain hotels.
Rooms a little dated but not in a bad way - seems to add to the individuality
Stayed on a Saturday night when they were hosting a wedding .I was advised to dine in town. At breakfast the non wedding guests were shunted into a side room with totally inadequate service which couldn't cope or a normal meal
Pleasant staff decent breakfast. Good location.
Clearly attracts groups of men presumably golfers. We were woken up at 3.00 am loud utterly inconsiderate and probably drunk.
Superior room was spacious.
Shower pressure was poor. Bar staff were short measuring on pints. Would have preferred individual tea and coffee pots at the breakfast table rather than waiting for someone to pour.
Comfortable room with provision of real coffee. Good breakfast. Helpful and cheerful staff.
Coffee machine in room is good, but my coffee tasted of cleaning fluid and was undrinkable. Doom Bar beer in the bar was too cold and foamy. There must be better beers locally
The Bar man was delightful - friendly, and a good sense of humour!
very helpful staff short walk to town
Staff really helpful and friendly nothing was to much trouble. The food was lovely will stay again.
parts of hotel looking tired. staff at breakfast on first morning not very welcoming...Didn't brief us on the procedure to getting breakfast...had to ask 3 times for tea and coffee, had nearly finished breakfast before it arrived..
Staff were happy to try and resolve my issue when we spoke to reception desk the following day and moved us to another part of the hotel which gave ya a much better night.
Guests staging at the hotel were very rowdy and even in the gardens water feature until 3.30am . I did complain to the night porter but nothing seemed to be done. This was the worst night I have ever had in a hotel.
Spacious bedroom, friendly staff, excellent breakfast
Our accommodation was in what had been modelled to look like a row of mews houses joining onto the back of the main hotel building. There were a number of rooms in each “mews” house, our room had been equipped and decorated to a very high standard, giant bed, large bathroom with powerful shower and plenty of towels. Parking was right outside the front door. Could not fault it. Breakfast was in the main building again all superb standard with so many staff running around no one was kept waiting.
The sauna and steam room were not working, there were instructions for the steam room but without my glasses I could not workout how to operate it. We settled for a swim rather than getting dressed and going back to reception knowing we would have to wait for the rooms to warm up etc. Our only disappointment in our stay.
