The fact l only booked one night.

The fact l chose to stay at all. A filthy, dilapidated hovel that l wouldn`t let my pet cat stay in .It hasn`t been decorated or cleaned this decade. The breakfast room had huge pieces of timber leaning against the wall (?) There was no hot water, the tv had a plug but no socket to plug into, the curtains were hanging off, the nets didn`t fit and were unclean. There was no soap. I wasn`t allowed to take my key out with me and when l did make good my escape they had blocked me in with another guests car despite me saying l would be leaving first thing.

I was welcomed by the receptionist who offered me a key to see the room before signing in. He then carried my case up to my room for me. The room was reasonably clean, with good linen/towels

I don't know how any place with no lifts and 10+ steps from street to the front door counts as a 'hotel'. There is no disability access whatever! Is this legal??? There was only two toilets per floor and one disgusting shower on my floor serving 12+ rooms. The only otger shower, two floors up had no bath mat, light not working, and two temperatures for shower - freezing or scalding. THIS PLACE SHOULD BE REMOVED FROM YOUR WEBSITE IMMEDIATELY!

The location close to the rail station. An alternative hotel was offered but we didn't want to bother for just one night due to proximity.

There was no value for the money paid. The bed was creaky with worn out blanket and duvet, waste bin left unemptied and generally looked unkempt. We had a sleepless night due to the noise from the street. We regretted not taking the offer of an alternative hotel. It is the worst hotel ever stayed in and will never return there.

The hotel never book me into the right room and the room was dirty and staff was to busy messing about and couldn't make there mind on price for crisp, don't take the right order on breakfast

Staff were friendly and very helpful. Hotel location is perfect for pedestrian traveller 200 yards away from Rail Station, close to University and De Montfort Hall. Easy bus access to city centre. Close to an ATM. Excellent Bistro next door.

No disabled access, very dangerous steps up to door of Hotel. Car Park blocks access to Hotel. Limited parking for people with cars.No ensuite rooms on First floor. Room up two flights of narrow stairs, no lift. Room was 92 Degrees F even with window already open. Radiator far too large for room, it could easily have heated the main auditorium of De Montfort Hall rather than a 14x12 room. Renovation work seems to be progressing slowly, and a new wash basin had been fitted in the room, but was actually "black" inside with I presume plumbing dirt. There were only two small cups in the room for making drinks and only two phialls of coffee, lots of tea which I don't drink, no brown sugar. No soap in bathroom, no shaver light, not a single glass anywhere in room. No bedside light. Floor creaked horribly by window and bed creaked too. I went down to the breakfast room a few minutes after breakfast serving started. I asked for strong coffee to drink and lots of it. I was served a mug of Instant Coffee. The breakfast arrived and the food was of good quality, beautiful bacon, white toast, but the plate was cold, and most of the food apart from the toast was cold. There was not sufficient butter on the table for the toast. No seperate knife for buttering toast, had to ask for a teaspoon to stir coffee. Was not offered a receipt when I paid. I had to go and draw cash from the ATM to pay as their machine was not working. When I checked out I asked for a receipt and was given one. I have to recommend the hotel because of it's location and because the people running it seemed really pleasant and were making an effort. But they need to get the basics right first.

Was by far, the worst ever hotel I ever been. And I mention that I travel a lot, in 3 rd world country's as well !!! . No hot water,bad smell everywhere , I found rotten apple in cupboard, comunal toilet full is S...t, UNBEALiVeable !!! Should be close by health an safety authorities and nhs as is a continated desease spot.

Unfortunately is located in the centre of town.

We didn't actually stay the night as we weren't at all happy with the place. The guy on the front desk arranged a room for us in another Leicester hotel.

Courteous staff. The hotel is within walking distance of the railway station, central shopping area and the university. It needs a lot of money spent on it to upgrade to even a minimum acceptable standard.

The room was not of a standard I would expect from a budget hotel, even for the money paid (which was equal to an Ibis or Premier Inn rate). The room was squallid and the bathroom was grimey. The door lock did not work. The only light was the ceiling light. Breakfoast is only served between 7 and 8 am. I decided to check out and find another hotel. At least the staff were gracious enough to refund my money, for which I am grateful.

It was utter rubbish. The sink was disgusting someone was sick the night before and the stuff didn't bother cleaning it up. I was given another room which had a broken window and it was extremely cold.

The breakfast was good.

The parking, The stairs, The poor decoration and upkeep of the decoration, Smells coming from rooms on the corridors, The shower and toilet facilities, the basin waste was blocked, the shower cubicle was so dingy that I did not use it, The bed was clean but a little uncomfortable, I cannot understand how this can be licensed by the council to operate. I could have complained but did not think that the manager there could have done anything about it and I was only there for one night, I would not book again. I did not look at the reviews until after I had made the booking and was about to book in or else I would have changed hotels. If there is any chance of a refund for this review, that would be appreciated in respect of the experience. John Bowskill

The only positive thing about my stay was that the wifi was good and I got a good nights sleep. LEAVING WAS BY FAR THE BEST PART.

- The place stunk of dirty cheesy feet... -They would not let me cancel my reservation. - The plug sockets had barely any electricity coming through them. - The kettle didn't work. -The shower was forever far too hot or far too cold, and burned me a couple of times. - The stairs outside are deadly when wet, there is no grip at all. - The ariel cable to the tv was I think an added extra, which i was unaware of so it was just a black screen. IT WAS ALSO NOT A FULL ENGLISH BREAKFAST IT WAS MORE LIKE AN 8TH OF A DECENT SIZED MEAL. I could go on... You're basically paying £35 for a comfy bed for one night and a wardrobe. NEVER STAYING THERE AGAIN. And no you don't have the option as a hotel to reply to this because you are a terrible excuse for a hotel, stay in a travel lodge people...

The rooms were of adequate size and very clean.

My honest view is to take this hotel out of your Leicester Portfolio. It won’t be worth the unhelpful comments I’ll write

Every thing from the bathroom to breakfast. I was told no breakfast at all and was charged £40.00 for a room which was very poor in standard.

Upgraded room so had own bathroom

State of the room, no working iron

no heating in room when asked was told it was on a timer mine never worked no tv in room despite being staed there would be one no hot water daughters room no lightbulb shower was digusting the hotel should be closed down and we wernt told it was full of undesirables

Less than a 1 star hotel. Single glazed windows. Poor decor. Wouldn't recommend for half the price we got it for. Disgusting hole

I did NOT like any think in it.

chick in, car park, cleaning, design, next door in the hotle are smoking marqwana which made me headic and nousea so i did not stay more than two night, I left friday 11:00 pm looking for another hotel. I think this hotle (Leicester City Hotel) is the worst ever i have seen. it shpould not be a hotel, may be good place for homless people.

the staff were very helpful and friendly. the hotel was very close to de montford hall which is why i chose it.

the room was untidy and in need of renovation, the tv didn't work properly which wouldn't normally matter but when travelling with kids it does!
