Free WiFi Hand sink in room. Kettle (although to big to fill in the sink, had to fill mug and then into kettle) single bed, nothing special though Wardrobe, must have been at least 2nd hand but better than none at all.
I had room 4, single room. The room doesn't come with an en-suite but I did know that prior to stay so I can't complain and I was offered an upgrade for an extra £5 but shouldn't all hotel rooms include rate and have toilets in all rooms these days?? There was a flat screen tv but no channels were working. The feeling like I was being watched whenever I left my room due to cctv cameras in the corridoors and every time you went downstairs the same guy would appear, does he not sleep? I popped 2 doors down to pick up an order from pizza hut, the downstairs door was locked up (this was about 22:20) so unlocked, I wasn't more than 5 mins and that same block was at the door when I got back - I would have locked door again on entering and felt like i'd done something wrong. Over powering smell of air freshener on entering the room for first time, was a whole can used in that room!? Radiator being on full when I entered the room, boiling hot. I managed to turn it off, turning the knob. Cash Payment taken only, despite being asked if i was paying by cash or card, why ask if there is no choice.
What an excellent location for a hotel, shame it had to be this one.
What an appalling hotel, I have to say this was one of the worst hotels I've stayed in. The police dealing with a drunken individual in the lobby should have been an indication of things to come. When I finally got the attention of a member of staff in what looked like a prota-cabin in the main stair well, it took him 10 minutes to find my booking and he had the most appalling attitude. Getting my key was also a great inconvenience. Then climbing up two flights of ricity stairs, I finally found my room at the end of an unpainted corridor with building materials scattered about. My door was unpainted with the largest no smoking sign I have ever seen. The room was filthy with no TV, a wardrobe that looked like it was about to collapse at any moment and a light switch the looked positively dangerous. Having no toilet I had to ravel to the other side of the building passing several 'Sorry for renovations' signs which were now stained with age and clearly showed no signs of being removed any time soon. The bathroom was filthy with shower doors leaning against the wall. I soon found the bed was very uncomfortable and the noise of the traffic outside. I was woken at 5:30 by shouting and the slamming of doors and down to breakfast at 7. My breakfast was cooked by the man on reception who managed to burn every part of my breakfast apart from the cereal. Overall, I had a terrible experience and my general recommendation would be to avoid!
The nice welcoming man by reception.
After arriving, no one greeted me...the builder man had to shout upstairs for a man to come down. Then I was told that my room was not ready so then they put me in a "much bigger" room. That was fine, but when I checked out the room, it was small and nothing like in the photographs. A shower was right by my bed and despite the 'no smoking' signs on the door, it stunk of smoke inside and condoms were on the window sill. I was told that I have a shower in the room but I cannot use it because it leaks downstairs. Checking out the shared bathroom and shower, there were no toilet paper and the shower door was broken. Even worse, someone left their boxers right by the floor and the toilet was blocked by a massive poo. The whole experience was very disappointing. My 'making coffee facility' consisted of a kettle on the floor and one coffee sachet with no milk, sugar or any other choices at all. Breakfast was served by a man who I saw at reception before entering the dining room who was on his phone and didn't wash their hands or wore an apron. There was no drink offered. I don't recommend anyone to stay at this hotel at all. I did not feel safe and it is not worth the money.
I got the room key after reaching and someone was already there, he opened the room with the other room key. I was speechless
Friendly staff and a good stopping point for the night.
It was dirty Shower in the middle of the room Awful noise Unfriendly and unprofessional staff Smelled weird
They didn't have our booking confirmed, demanded we pay in cash, the room was filthy, a member of staff let himself into the room whilst me and my boyfriend were asleep, they were rude, disruptive, I felt unsafe, it certainly was not worth £45! and they accused a group of friends we were travelling with of vandalism which they couldn't prove! I would never recommend this place and strongly suggest booking.com discontinue their partnership with them.
Shared bathroom not working so couldn't take a shower en route to graduation at Uni.
Close proximity to train station, staff were very helpful
Corridors could have been cleaner
The hotel was dirty and the paint falling of the wall. Wifi only in lobby wc not working.tv werry small upp in coner not see from bed.and I had I wake up call reception forget it and I lost my fly.
Nothing - except that I was offered a transfer to their 'sister' hotel, Stoneycroft Hotel on Elmfield Ave (and this, before I'd even seen the room - understandably, as I found out!)
The fact that I was 'upgraded' to a room with a shower, on arrival. That room was simply 'not fit for purpose', containing a low double bed that didn't appear clean, with a shower unit right next to it (with a broken door), and a sink next to that. No sign of a WC in the corridor outside. My new room at Stoneycroft was pleasant and ensuite, but there was no hot water, and I was 'fobbed off' with excuses, and never offered an alternative - a complaint letter did not receive any response.
Very close to city centre and train station. Free upgrade to double room on arrival. If you're using this hotel as just somewhere to dump a bag and get your head down after a night out its ideal.
Shower was poor in the room with door broken. No toilet in the room
On arrival we were met by a lovely man who was very appologetic about the hotel not been ready. We were informed that we had been booked in at another hotel 2 mins down the road. The gentleman was very helpful and even drew us a map showing us where we needed to be. He also rang the hotel we had been moved to to inform them that we were on our way so that they would have everything ready.
The location being 5 min walk from railway station and 5 minute walk from De Montfort Hall (I was going to a gig there) was nothing short of perfect. My bed was clean.
1. No staff at reception when I needed to check out and no bell to summon them. Had to wait until someone eventually came. 2. Very tired décor throughout. 3. My TV did not work. 4. Had to go up a further two flights of stairs to get a shower. 5. I get the feeling they accommodate social housing as there seemed to be a lot of noise from rooms with very young children. 6. Breakfast only served 7am to 8am.
The wetherspoons in town
Hotel is not a hotel its a smelly bedsit shared toilet cold shower rooms wer filthy
Good location, central and close to the station and city centre. Staff were friendly, polite and helpful. After having a few problems were offered a discount on the room rate. The room had tea making facilities.
There are so many things wrong with the building and facilities. Firstly when we arrived, we were told that they had no information about the booking and that the hotel was full. We were then recommended another sister hotel with rooms available to make another booking. However after speaking to another member we were able to secure a room the this site. The room we selected was a large family room. It had four beds but only one was acceptable to sleep in. The matresses were well used and laying down you could feel every spring piercing your back. This was only relieved by the feeling the wooden timbers from the divan below. The beds were dressed with relatively clean but un-matching and uncoordinated bed sheets. The room did have tea making facilities in the room, but this only had 2 mugs so with a room that can sleep 5 people we felt this was lacking. The room had an ensuite with a corner of the room dedicated to providing a toilet and shower. The shower was functional and supplies nice warm water. Although the flow was weak. It was basic but useable. There was no extractor fan and no windows in the toilet. This poor ventilation meant that all smells and steam spilled in to room. The room had a TV, however the screen was smashed and could not be used in any way. The onsite parking was small and could only accommodate 3-4 cars as it was the pavement on the side of the hotel. We had to contact other car owners before we could remove our vehicle as all the cars block each other. The general appearance of the hotel was delapodated with worn carpets, wallpaper peeling of the walls. Scrapes, scuff and marks everywhere. Hopefully this can be repaired. The hotel was under renovation and we could see this with building equipment and tools in the corridors. It was relatively quiet and we were not disturbed by any work.
the staff and the price breakfast lovely
decor needs revamp but appears to be underway
Nothing...the worst hotel (Soup Kitchen) I have ever stayed in...not even fit for tramps. I have used Booking.com worldwide as far as Vietnam...only one in Hanoi comes a close second. The property needs to be completely gutted & refurbished by a good quality building contractor inside & outside. Comment by a Construction Engineer with 25 years experience in the Industry
Service lack of facilities no bathroom shower dirty and broken tv only one channel etc etc
The first room we had was dirty and had sheets and mugs in from the night before, the shower door fell off, we were finally moved to another room which was cleaner with no working shower, the icing on the cake was the drunken lady it took the police 2 hours to remove from outside our door. We won't ever be staying there again a park bench would have been a better place to stay
Dirty, no curtains, no toilet in room, couple of inches of mould on skirtings, piece of cloth on one windows and nothing on other, shower only cold water, door to room didn't open properly, stairs up to room dangerous if there was a fire I am sure you wouldn't get out, I hope I don't get charged for this review, as got overcharged by £5 for the room, didn't stay for the free breakfast wonder why????
Hotel staff is good helpful
I m not happy about two small towel and small soap and no wiffi for use my tablets and no subtitles on TV and no breakfast and they never told me repair at hotel thank you
Cheap, good location, staff friendly, 24hr reception enabling you to leave your key behind reception while out on the lash. No hassle off the staff. Breakfast was decent. I would return
Holes in the ceiling, no hot water, matteress to short for the bed , no springs left in the bed-pikeys must of had them away. Absolutely grotty
