I liked the bar and restaurant most of all. The room is lovely but there were a couple of issues with the bathroom. The staff were very nice and helpful and the breakfast was excellent.
The shower dripped all the time so we had to close the bathroom door to block out the noise. The handle on the outside of the bathroom door was too near the edge of the door. If you're right handed it's not a problem. Unfortunately I'm left handed and when I closed the bathroom door, for the first time, I badly banged my hand on the door frame because of the location of the door handle.
Staff were friendly, polite and hospitable. Excellent !
Clean and comfortable. Friendly staff.
The hotel is on the upper level above Tobermory's main street where the restaurants are located, so without a car, it's a long steep climb. (but we knew this in advance)
Nice breakfast. Good shower.
No sea views from the hotel and the steep hill from the main street to the hotel. Also breakfast was very early 8-9!
very! friendly staff short walk to harbour...although up/down the hill parking in front of the hotel playground 5 minute walk away from the hotel
Hotel is on the very steep hill which should be made clear on their website. Not for unfit...Makes it difficult to find as well. Rooms are very small. We were in the room with two single beds and a cot. There was barely any room after we places our small bag on the floor. But then we have never stayed in any other hotel in Tobermory so maybe they are all on the small side.. Breakfast only available 8-9. No staff at reception at times. I shall mention I paid cash before we left the hotel. Only to find out days later that my card has also been charged. Manager was very good about it. Very apologetic and it was corrected quick.
the dinner we had was excellent and a good selections of wines. terrific breakfast.
beds were too soft for our liking
Walking distance to town. Breakfast included.
The hotel is on the top of a hill. If you are able to walk without assistance, this hill shouldn't be a problem.
Really friendly staff, very welcoming and helpful in providing advice on the local area. The hotel was well-located, set above the main street.
Manageress of hotel was very helpful and informative on local sightseeing.
While the hotel was a little bit tired in decor it made up fo with its really friendly staff. I loved the location of the hotel but I was traveling with my mum who is in late 70s so the steep up from the town was a little bit of a challenge but taxis were easy to get and cost three pounds.
Standard room bed was uncomfortable, linen tired looking.
Location, breakfast, quiet room and location. Helpful reception staff. Modern ensuite . A good hotel for budget conscious.
Linen and mattress in standard room could be upgraded. Standard double bed room was a bit cramped.
Location Owner friendliness
Evening staff Pillows Damp smell in bedroom £2 for a bottle of water!
The hotel was well situated above the harbour, within walking distance. The room was comfortable and quiet except for the sound of a stream running down the side. The bar had a range of malt whiskies. The staff were friendly and helpful.
The bar had handpumps on it, but the cask beer was not available. The breakfast period (8-9 am) was rather short and most people arrived right at the beginning, meaning that there was sometimes a wait to get served. The car park was rather small.
Rooms, although extremely basic, were very clean.
At no point was it made clear that this hotel was not suitable for anyone less than fit! Located up a very steep hill. Hotel not suitable for the elderly/less mobile.
very good breakfast, separate room for the luggage (with wardrobe)
WiFi access in our room does not work (too far from the access point)
The staff I met were all very good and friendly. The breakfast was excellent. The location was close to the centre of town but a good bit above sea level.
Check out by 09.30 is a bit early. The hotel itself felt a bit tired. Cotton sheets on the bed would have been preferred to the synthetic variety.
The bedroom could have been bigger.
Friendly staff, good food at reasonable prices. Comfortable room.
Close to centre of town. Pleasant staff
Breakfast on a Sunday morning was served only from 8am - 9am Very noisy room, soundproofing non-existent Curtains did not block daylight out at all therefore awakened at dawn. Dated decor Terrible shower - chase the drip.
All-round a solid hotel, there was nothing obviously wrong, but it was also not outstanding and given that we saw quite some other very nice hotels (also some that didn't look too expensive) on Isle of Mull I would recommend looking around a bit before booking.
For us it was very expensive because they had no 3-person rooms left so we had to book two twin rooms.
We have stayed here before 7 years ago.It has had a make over since we last stayed and is well appointed, good location, good price good breakfast. No more to say
This hotel seems quite basic at first glance and furnishings are not very up to date, but it has everything needed for a comfortable stay. Very clean and staff are extremely helpful. The hotel is up a steep walk from the Main Street but it is a very quick and convenient location if the uphill climb doesn't bother you.
TV was quite small and sound wasn't great, but we were out most of the time so not a big issue.
Superior Room was spacious and comfortable with reasonable view down to the harbour. Breakfast was very good.
As teh hotel was maybe a little bit away from the main street the bar and restaraunt were a bit quite at night. Most people seem to visit the pubs and restaurants down at the harbour.
