I was made welcome immediately and felt at home. Lovely breakfast and quiet place to stay.
The room we had up in the roof space. was so spacious, it had everything you needed, tea, coffee and the bed was so comfortable. Breakfast awesome,
Excellent breakfast and plenty of choice. Hostess was very accommodating, letting me park my car for the rest of the day.
Room was a bit small, especially the en suite, which was a bit heath-robinson. Very difficult to fill the kettle without spilling water. Not good value for money, as Booking.com managed to get me far better value on a previous occasion.
Lovely location, lovely people.
The surrounding area offers amazing walks on the doorstep. Cracking little town with good pubs/restaurants. Lovely hosts. Free parking. 11:00am checkout time. Cosy room. Overall a pleasant stay, could be made great with a few improvements.
spring mattresses (bluebell room) need replacing, looking at the reviews this was flagged back in 2012. No TV in room. Not sure where the bar was. Road noise, but was aware of this before booking so was expecting this.
The room was lovely, we had a double room on the top floor which was lovely and cosy, with a super comfy bed. The breakfast was amazing, and the staff so friendly and helpful.
The WiFi wasn't wonderful in our room but fine in the dining and tv room. The tv in the room could only pick up BBC channels, but these just made it even more relaxing to be honest. It was nice to leave technology behind for a weekend.
Really loved this B&B, the owner could not of been more helpful if she tried - tea and welsh cakes on arrival and giving me sandwich bags without even asking at breakfast time in case I wanted to take a doggy bag (the remainders of my breakfast) out hiking with me that day.
The only downside was the location - it is a bit of a walk into Crickhowell village, which after a weary day on the hills I couldn't quite face, but would probably be more expensive if it was in the middle of the village.
The owner was very friendly and the house was very homely. The room was clean and well supplied. We had a wonderful stay. Would definitely stay there again and recommend it to others.
Friendly and welcoming hosts. Great breakfast
Very warm welcome, large bedroom, private en-suite, free wifi, large breakfast choice, close to Crickhowell, stunning views
Room and tea/coffee facilities could have been a little cleaner
Maxine the proprietor couldn't have been more friendly - nothing was too much trouble and little touches like a drink on arrival and offering to help carry bags are appreciated. Location is OK, a ten-minute walk from Crickhowell centre, and it's a great base for exploring the Brecons. Room was cleaned and tidied and tea/hot choc/biscuits in the room replenished.every day. Nice views from the rooms.
Sound carries well in the house so other guests closing doors and talking loudly on the stairs could easily be heard. Our bathroom was in an adjacent room - not necessarily a problem unless you're worried about meeting other guests on the stairs when in your dressing gown.
The room was lovely, and place very homely. Owner was very welcoming, and cooked us both a cracking breakfast!! Would recommend and stay again to see more of the surrounding area.
We had a major struggle with the late checking-in time of 4pm, as the wedding started at 2pm, and us having no where to freshen up after journey and leave bags. Eventually involved a round trip from wedding location later that night to check in and obtain the key.
There is a wonderful period feel to Park Place Guest House. Our plans had changed last minute and Maxine kindly switched our rooms so that we could enjoy the family suite. Furnishings were pretty with period details and all very clean. The dining room and guest lounge were decked out for Christmas and very appealing. Lots of choice at breakfast.
Because the property is Victorian the floors do tend to creak and there are a few chips and cracks in the original wash basin. But certainly wasnt a problem for us.
All of it
This was just as one hoped a B&B/small hotel might be. From a cup of tea and a welsh cake on arrival to a breakfast that was as good as I've had anywhere, this friendly outpost would seem to be to me to be hard to beat. Dr. Phil Barden
Nothing to dislike.
The reception was very good with the welcoming tea and welsh tea cakes, making a pleasant start to my stay. Information on the area was readily forthcoming. The breakfast ranks among the best I have had in B and Bs. Throughout my stay I felt very comfortable and would certainly have no hesitation in returning.
A minor point was the temporary lack of a TV service.
Location good. Large room. Friendly and helpful. Lovely breakfast.
Needs a bit of TLC in places it otherwise great
Friendly people Great breakfast
No tv in my room so had to go downstairs to use living room tv and it wasn't working :( so was very bored in the evening
The welcome - Pot of tea & Welsh cakes. The bed - Very comfortable. The Welsh breakfast, all locally sourced. The location - Within 10 minutes walk of the town centre. Quiet.
Decoration & comfort excellent thru'-out house. Good bed and large en-suite shower. Good, early breakfast. Short walk to good restaurant & local pub. Charming and helpful host, even tho' I arrived wet & muddy. Lovely location near Usk river bridge. Close to A40, yet ideal for walking. What more can you wish for in a guest house?
TV in guest lounge seemed problematic.
A very friendly welcome - tea & Welsh cake was a much needed treat! The breakfast - go Welsh, you won't need to eat again for a day.
TV reception was poor, but perhaps to be expected as it's based in the valleys.
Owner, host-extraordinaire Maxine. She even did some laundry for us; for a fee, of course, but never had that service in a B&B before. Location across river from town center, away from most traffic but an easy walk to shops and restaurants. Big room on top floor.
Weak wi-fi. Nearly nonexistent in our room. Best access seems to be in the garden.
owner and staff friendly and helpful breakfast good
very pokey single bedroom and bathroom coffee was not fit for purpose but was replaced when requested
