Personal service, friendly staff, good location
The warm welcome, the good food and the overall ambience of the place.
My only observation is that the mattress in Rose was a little hard for my taste, but that is a personal preference.
cobwebs over door, towels smelt odd, hair in breakfast, no WI FI or info in the room, host's apron filthy as breakfast was served (off putting).
Landlady was very friendly. Plastic tray for dirty boots in the bedroom. Made very welcome to use the lounge.
We were kind of jumped on for a breakfast order when we checked in at 5pm. The bath in our private bathroom wasn't very clean (not clean enough to take a bath) and the sink in the bedroom was cracked. Everything worked but not quite up to scratch. 'Secure garage space' for push bikes was a spy in the garage which was otherwise full of family junk.
Very pleasant and friendly proprietor with good local knowledge. Excellent breakfast.
Our room was in the eaves and my partner suffered some bruises to the head! The bathroom was adjacent, not en suite, with another bedroom on the same private landing. The other bedroom wasn't let so that was OK. I trust the 2 bedrooms are only let for family groups as the bathroom is described as 'private'. Towels a bit small.
Family owned and run B & B in excellent location short walk to town. Off street parking. Good selection for breakfast. Owner Maxine is very friendly and helpful. Quiet room as requested with lovely view of surrounding countryside. Would stay again without hesitation.
very close to town centre. friendly host. nice breakfast
street noise by traffic. very poor wifi. room was a bit dusty (I am asthmatic so sense it immediately). We were a family of three but via booking.com we could not book one room with 3 beds whereas such room was available.
Lovely food. Great scenery. Lovely lady. Great suite in the roof, very chic.
The staff were very welcoming and friendly. They adjusted our breakfast as requested and nothing was too much trouble.
Maxine was friendly and welcoming, offering cup of tea in the Garden as soon as we arrived (after a long journey) so we were refreshed by the time it came to moving to our room. The Rose room was comfortable with nice view. Maxine was also able to recommend local walks and gave us helpful details. There was a choice of breakfasts. Each choice offered quality and quantity and is really worthy of comment.
The bathroom was in an adjoining separate room but this was really only mildly inconvenient.
Maxine is an excellent host and extremely hospitable. Breakfast was exceptionally good (and substantial) with a wide variety of high quality food on offer. The breakfast coffee is also great.
Very helpful and friendly. The room was tastefully decorated in keeping with the Victorian building. The breakfast was excellent and plenty of it! A very enjoyable experience and we would thoroughly recommend it.
Comfort informality & lovely tea. & home made Welsh cakes on arrival
Friendly staff. Location 5 minutes walk from village Crickhowel.Good breakfast.
Maxine was a very welcoming and helpful host. The views from my cosy attic room were lovely and the breakfasts generous. Thank you!
Can't be helped I know but no other channels but BBC 1, 2 News and Cbbc. But the views made up for that...
Friendliness of owner plus really excellent breakfasts
Maxine could not have been a more gracious and friendly host, welcoming us warmly and giving great advice on good and walking. It's a cozy place, well located to town and walking trails. Breakfast was hearty and good and the rooms were comfortable. The rooms in the back were especially quiet.
The only real negative was that my private bath was not en suite, but that's me being particular.
Very friendly environment. Highly recommended.
freindly greeting & service easy walk into town wonderful views
Everything. Would stay again.
I could not fault it.
Very nice owner and very Helpful. Would recommend.
When my wife and I arrived at the property I was greeted on first name terms. We were shown to the lounge and offered tea and coffee. We had arrived in early evening and Maxine (guest house owner) suggested a number of restaurants in the local area we could try. The guest house was clean and tidy with a number of personal touches throughout. The breakfasts - whether English, Welsh or continental - were of good sized servings. The guest house is located about 10 - 15 minutes walk outside of Crickhowell but has more than adequate parking. Information about the local area was readily available but did not detract from the appearance of the guest house. My wife and I are more than happy to return to the guest house.
We stayed in Rose Room which, at the time of the visit, had a private bathroom but this was not ensuite. I was told that works are being planned to make it so.This was not a deal breaker as the bathroom was a good size and was for our personal use - we just had to leave the bedroom and unlock a second door.
We had very clean and comfortable rooms, the rooms were nicely decorated and had wonderful sheets on the bed. We had a group member who was very tall and the owner was very accomodating about changing rooms so that he didn't bang his head on the slanted ceiling! The owner also gave us excellent advice on where to have dinner and the breakfast was one of the best we had in the UK on our trip!
The friendly greeting
