Opposite the 19th-century cathedral church of St Barnabas is The Strathdon Hotel. The vast Old Market Square, Nottingham’s historic shopping district, is just a 5-minute walk away.

Great furnishings and style Helpful staff Relaxed atmosphere
Location to town
Dirty carpets and creaky floors. Tiny bathroom with mouldy walls. Mouldy window frame and walls behind and beside the bed. The pictures on the website look good, but when you get up close its pretty poor. The duvet was stained which we only noticed in the morning as the cover opened,,,,, Gross... If I hadn't paid up front we'd have walked out. Thankfully we only had one night. Would we stay again or recommend ????,,,,, NO CHANCE !!!!
Beautiful vista of parkland over the road. Comfy and clean bed. Great location: walking distance (for exercise happy people) to the city centre, tram line out the front, cheap eats & general store 1 block away. Would definitely stay there again:)
Carpet desperately needs replacing- almost feels moist with decades of grime. Noise from street amplifies- heard every pedestrian, and being on the Uni-route and party-route for many students, there was a lot of late night laughing & yelling.
Excellent customer service, lovely staff!
The rooms at the front of the building were very noisy as the road seemed to be a student walkway into town. Lots of shouting kept me awake Thursday and Friday night :-(
There are insects in the bed and the wifi in the hotel is very slow. Besides, staffs in the hotel are not so nice... Very very disappointed
Elegant sitting and dining room. This was a reconfigured older house with 19th century charm
As a 19th century style house, it lacked elevator. If you have a lot of luggage be prepared to carry it up 3 floors of stairs. Parking is on the street as you can find it, and only after 6 and before 9 AM
The j2o and tv were fine
There is no parking. The staff produced a map which didn't even contain the suggested car park but had an arrow off the page with a postcode saying it's a 5 min. drive. The garage for £5 was too small for an average car and the advice from the staff that I could park for2 hours and then move resulted in a £35 parking ticket. The shower was stiff and leaked, the hand basin cracked, the mirror had a black horizontal line across it and the soap was minute. We were in room 20 -a group of young men and women kept up loud, expletive laden 'partying' from about 8 pm until late in the corridor and next door, waking my daughter at hourly intervals. Complaints to the manager had little impact. By morning we were as tired as the general decoration ...and for this I paid over £100.
Room was quite cosy.
climbing up set of stairs. No lift. Bed was quite small. Left a few messages before arrival but no one got back to us. en-suite was so tiny could not even fit in...
Good location with regular tram service around city running past the hotel. Comfortable bed.
Toilet/shower room so small it wasn't easy to shut the door to use the facilities! Only a bar of soap as toiletries. Maybe small packets of shampoo or conditioner would have been helpful.
My room was squat to the extent of hampered movement, stubbing toes etc. The damp was very apparentl in my cellar room.mayb just got unlucky with worst room.
The room, worst I've stayed in. Sorry I wrote in boxes the wrong way around. Oh they did provide a small heater eventually which slightly helped. I said they should leave it there with opened windrow.
The staff were polite and helpful. The location of the hotel is very close to the university and city centre.
I have never written a bad review in my life, however I feel that I need to say something about this hotel, it was that horrible. The reception area and the rooms were dirty and smelled. We were extremely disappointed. The first room we were given hadn't been hoovered, there was dried food smeared on the chair, the sheets were stained, there were dead flies in the bathroom light, the blind had a massive coffee stain down it, I could go on and on! The second room we moved to was cleaner, however the sheets were stained, the room smelled of mold and the bathroom was not pleasant. So all in all it was not good, I would not recommend staying here unless you are on a tight budget AND aren't bothered by cleanliness.
The hotel was fine and within walking distance of town.
All is good
Some spiders in the room
wifi wasn't very stable
Staff were helpful
First room given smelt and shower screen had black mild across it. No mattress protector fitted and mattress covered in stains, some were the source of the smell.Cleanliness poor and rooms small. Outside appearance tatty and gardens un attended
Good location opposite the Arboretum Got a free upgrade to a bigger room My room had a 50 inch tv with every channel you can think of and a PS3 California king bed View Cleanliness Very big room Can't beat the price
There's no lift so i had to carry my heavy baggage upstairs. Stayed there for a night only
Good value for money and clean.
Carpets need to be replaced and there is no carpark.
The staff, management were all friendly and very helpful. I would definitely stay there again
Nothing all was good .
Nasty dirty crack in sink, no plug.room had a smell.bed very comfortable. Disturbed nights sleep because of rowdy people singing and shouting on way home for hours. Good breakfast
The period of the house and its proximity to the city center.
The rooms are too compact, the sound travels too easily around the hotel. The air in the taps makes operating a noisy affair.
Nice décor good location.friendly staff.
noisy couple next room.
Friendly helpful staff, inexpensive hotel, good location
Bathroom and shower bit cramped
Friendly staff and good leafy location near Met Uni and City centre. Modest price
Bar/restaurant makeshift. Poor/non-existent wifi. Small room and a shower for tiny people!
The hotel was easy to locate but had no parking facilities. The room was small but adequate for a one night stay wouldn't want to stay more than the one night in the small room. Staff were pleasant
The bathroom was in need of major update, the windows and frames were rotten and mouldy, the shower was not adequate, there was no plug for the wash hand basin, really looks dilapidated making the stay not as pleasant as it could have been
The shower room was a bit uncomfortable since it had a bad ceiling so you can't stand below the shower, and the room is a bit small. Also no place for charging phones (we had to disconnect stuff for that). Talking about the room for 2 with one bed. The location is quite good, not far from the center (20 mins top to everywhere important). Cheap prices, very nice overall!
