We visited the castle and many bars and places to eat. We were on the top flour and sometimes found it a bit tiring. |

Hotel was clean, staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel was just far enough from the centre to avoid the noise. We also liked the 2 for 1 meal deals. There was a lot of noise on one particular night when patrons were leaving the bar and also noise from workman in the mornings. |

Manager was 'Sound as a Bell !!' I had to pay £100 for the room. £40 would of been worth it. |

Absolutely the most helpful and friendly staff - I have spent half my life in hotels so believe me on this one. For example, at the bar, I asked the bartender a question about Edinburgh and he just disappeared. While I was wondering where he was and what I said, he went to his back office, researched the Internet, asked two co-workers and got me the answer! Rooms not that clean - stain on carpets. Its also rather noisy/partyish (if thats a problem for you - its not for me). Also, one hotel cleaning staff was rather noisy (my partner insists that I mention this) - she was shouting "Hello" at the top of her voice in the morning. My partner requested her to keep it down but she continued to shout "Helloooooo" - it still haunts my partner :) |

1. Lighting in room was very poor. 2. Breakfast at 8am is far too late if you have an early appointment in the city. I had to rush to keep my appointment |

Staff were friendly and efficient.Although I booked a single room I was given a small double room at no extra charge. My only complaint was that the very good breakfast was served on cold plates. |

Good atmoshepre and not a bad location tho further a way from the centre than they said I was there with my son and he wasnt allow in the bar after 6pm which for a hotel that is surpose to be kid friendly isnt good as there is nowhere else for kids to go or anything for kids to do apart from going to the room which is very small if it is a twin.they should state that there is nothing for kids to do in the hotel after 6pm..also the food is terrible.the manager is no help at all |

Irish manager on reception was extremely pleasant and helpful - room was big, breakfast was good though need more staff on duty to keep coffee/juice flowing - Roof leaked, wardrobe door was off, carpets were dirty especially in the hall and stairs and the staff eating room - I think it would be unpleasant to eat in the staff area because of the smell of the carpets - which are unhygenic- I could not have eaten in there - new carpets and a lick of paint would improve the place vastly |

The location was good with a nice park outside and short walk to the centre and the staff were on the whole helpful and friendly. Paint was peeling off the walls of the room, which was also a bit dark and there were leaks in the halls, the whole place seemed quite run down apart from the bar which was good. It was fine for what we needed but feels a bit more like a youth hostel than a hotel. |
