Where do I start. After we booked in and were shown to the room, reality struck. 1940 throw back room. The room was very dated!! There was a very small portable tv on a very old cabinet. The four poster bed was a joke. Its was rickety with a very poor matress. There was no duvet cover, but a duvet within two sheets! The blind had white paint all over it. The bathroom was disgusting. The window handle was broken, there was no heating in there. It had no extracter fan, and the tiles were riddled with mould!! The ceiling was covered in mould and so too was the blind!! If there was heating, extracter fan and the window opened, this may not have happened. The kettle had a faulty plug, and there was no legal evidence of pat testing on any electrical appliance. The biggest joke is the hotel has a plaque outside claiming to be 2 star tourist board rated. I have an email (i can send anyone) from the hotel direct saying they are two star. This is what i got back from the tourist board when i emailed them: "At the last assessment, The Park Hotel was disqualified for not meeting the minimum entry requirements. As the Park Hotel is not star rated by VisitEngland, they cannot make claims to have achieved an official star rating in their marketing literature including on their website or at the property itself" They also claim on other hotel sites, and via stickers at the hotel and on their website pictures to be AA rated. You guessed it! The AA said they ARE NOT AA RATED!! False advertising via their pictures and on the hotel window (1997 AA rated) I have made appropraite complaints with the Environmental Health, Trading Standards, Tourism for England and the local council and ALL of them have opened cases. I have plenty of pictures i can send anyone (and will put them on here also). I also have some video footage showing the appaling conditions. Upon speaking to some of the residents this appears to also be a hostel for people with no where to live and funded by the council.

The Park Hotel was fairly close to the Gants Hill underground station which was useful. When arriving at the Park Hotel we were waiting at the reception desk to be checked in, however, although there was a member of staff stood in the doorway of the reception office facing us we were ignored for 5 minutes. The lady kept looking up at us but just carried on flicking through a notebook rather than coming to help us and continued to ignore us when I said excuse me. Once we had our room key we were told that to get to our room we would have to go outside into a car park and through a wooden gate to the building that our room was in. The room was absolutely tiny, however this was not a big issue as it was only for one night and the bed was very clean. The room consisted of a 3/4 size double bed and a small wardrobe. The wardrobe was not leant up against anything, and when I opened the doors to look inside it actually fell over on me as the carpet it was on was uneven and nothing was holding it in place. The wardrobe also had several large holes in it. The room was satisfactory, however the en suite was disgusting. There were marks all over the toilet and sink where it hadn't been cleaned properly and it stank of sewage. The smell was so bad that the en suite door had to be kept closed to stop the smell going into the bedroom, and when we did need to use the bathroom it made us feel incredibly sick. I was very disappointed with this hotel overall and would definitely not stay there again.

The location is excellent being opposite a beautiful park and ideal for a wealth of shops which are nearby. Transport links are very good. Hotel staff were very good and the room was always clean. Buffet breakfast with a good selection of food available and in good supply. Have stayed here on previous occasions and will be staying here again in the future.

Reception was very bad! Rooms are not clean, we do not have shampoo inside any rooms!, Water temperature is lower than 40!, and finally if you have any claim on anything nobody are to answer you! I have lots of trip in Germany and believed that finding a bad hotel in Germany will be very difficult, But this one is really bad Hotel. Do not offer it to any friend please!

The breakfast was ok. The staff were slow and not very professional. People were smoking outside our room. When we complained to reception the staff said the management wouldn't really care if we lodged a complaint. I thought the whole staying experience was appalling!!!

Staff were polite, breakfast was good and generous.Free wifi was a definite bonus an all round good alternative for those on a budget Hotel did not contact us to let us know that the family room we booked was unavailable and we had been allocated two twin rooms instead (not adjoining). And did not explain the key deposit requirement prior to arrival. Small dining area meant queuing for breakfast, while 1 person sat at a table for 4 on their own. Allocating dining times at arrival would make more sense.

Bus station in front of the hotel. Near tube and rail stations. Very serviced area. One man of the reception was gentle. Room too small and unconfortable, bathrooms mold smelling, towels spotted. Tea wasn't good.

Friendly, and helpful staff. Room was serviced every day, and was very clean. Nice area around the hotel - Valentines park, etc. There were problems with water at the first day (were fixed though). Shower was broken a bit (but still usable).

Convenience to the venue visited only We had to go outside to reach our room. (In rain). Objected to having to prove who we were by photo. We are not foreigners, which would be more appropriate if we were abroad. Our relations who also visited were almost not accepted, but had to pay a deposit for the key. (Refundable). Minus photographic proof? Our breakfast was not what was expected - no bacon- but turkey slices. Everything else was O.K. and they had run out of tomatoes. When in England full English is preferable.

I didn't like the hotel at all. The staff was nice and that's it. The room, the facilities and the overall rating are very low. Really a budget choice. Backpackers only.

They let us pay at arrival, and not at the departure. Rooms, are not so clean. In the night there was to much noise into the hotel, people screaming and running into the corridor. Into the rooms (mine and my brother's room) there was a whindow on the ceiling that han not any tent, so at 6 a.m. in the rooms there was too much light and was impossible to sleep. The hotel is too far from the center of the city, you need half hour of subway.

absolutely nothing to like about this place. It was very noisy, with doors banging, people shouting and swearing, and loud music- most of this taking place in the corridors. the receptionist on arrival was arrogant and rude. Wouldn't recommend this place to anybody

Very efficient and help full reception staff. Room was appalling - do not book single room number 10! the room is dirty,no curtains so your wakened by the morning light and the sound of a water pump (sounds like a wardrobe being dragged around upstairs) from 6am every 10 seconds. The headboard is disgusting, the carpet is badly stained, the mattress springs poke through and really hurt, the radiator rumbles loudly constantly if you put on for heat. This is not a single room it is a so small .the en-suite lino is badly stained and smells. Breakfast is prepared at 6am - 9am - if you go down at 8am as I did - well its been under a heat light for 2hours - inedible!

Breakfast and reception staff very friendly patient and helpful. The hotel services are adquate with the price. As a group manager, it was a bit difficult to locate some of the rooms, if you there as a group, you'd better see with Management to put you up in the same bulding.
