Myself and a friend stayed at the Parkside International Hotel and found the staff very polite and some great features such as a 24 hour bar and free Wifi service.
However when we got into our room we noticed how there were so many stains everywhere. Carpets had been trashed by previous occupiers. The shower curtain needed changing and there were questionable stains to other interiors. The beds were comfortable, but I don't understand why a promising hotel would let them down in such a way. Despite a comfortable sleep I felt I had to wash my hands when touching things in the room. This may be just one room with room 224, which I hope is the case, but some fixes need to take place
Price, very good breakfast. Comfortable bed. Free parking.
Room a bit tired, chipped table, holes in bedspread, broken loo roll holder
Good Price, Helpful Staff, Nice Breakfast.
5 minutes from the Motorway Network. We had our pet dog with us and there was a large park next door.
The location of the hotel and its its closeness to all the amenities including the town centre.
No herbal teas
Really, really tatty.
Finding it tough to write anything here. Other than it was the only place I could find that wasn't fully booked.
My room over looked a court yard, back of the kitchen. The paved area was very untidy with hundreds of cigarette butts strewn around. It really needed a good sweep.
Only stayed for one night but a nice quiet room and very clean
If I had to be picky I would have liked a grab bar in shower over bath
decent size room, good price, parking
Carpets stained, building work being carried out, Generally lack of attention to detail, Staff not very friendly.
It's in a good location on the A4 between Reading and Theale and has Free parking
The room was far too hot! Everywhere is hot at the moment but walking into the room was like walking into an oven. Even with the window open as far as it would go and left open all night it was horrendously hot. Can't comment on food as had already been advised it was poor so went to the Beefeater across the road.
Good clean facility, helpful and friendly staff
Noise levels of other guests banging doors. Cleaning staff in a rush to get into the room to clean.
food was good value staff helpful
needs some attention outside. fan not working in bathroom
location was really handy for Reading. Reception staff friendly and helpful
Breakfast time there seemed to be a lack of staff
Knowledgeable pleasant staff especially at breakfast
No air conditioning
Comfy clean adequate room , met all are requirements..hotel was clean and tidy
Not a good first impression.Morning reception staff appeared moody un interested in talking to us..appeared to have no people skills or communication skills, didnt look at my booking and noted that i had paid in advanced! Said served food at lunch time on there literature..sat in lounge waiting, when asked at reception replied only in evenings, and walked off..poor service
Rooms were good, staff were friendly and helpful, food was fair.
What a bad first impression you get when walking in the entrance; all weedy and dirty. A bit strange that you can't pay for your room and tab all at once in the morning. And a large glass of wine seemed a bit on the small side for the price.
Great value for money. Friendly staff.
The serene environment.
Breakfast not given i.e one needs to pay separately for it unlike some other hotels around.
* centrality * comfort of room * wi-fi just there! No messing about with codes etc!
My main criticism is the poor quality of lighting for doing paperwork in the evening. Energy saving lightbulbs are great for ambience but just not bright enough to read and write. Staff kindly brought me an extra lamp but this too was rather dim. An optional reading lamp would be great!
Reasonablly priced , self service breakfast wasnt too bad.
Outside looks neglected. Our Non smoking room smelt of cigarettes, with cigarette ash over outside windowsill and a large pile of cigarette stubbs in the courtyard below our bedroom window. Changed rooms. Carpet in both rooms VERY old and stained ALL over. Pillows very poor, one so lumpy couldnt use. Couldnt open curtains as overlooked by lots of other rooms, nets, or blinds would offer privacy and light. Very noisy.
Bed was comfortable. WiFi was fast enough to watch a movie.
Window would not close, had to change rooms. I touched the toilet roll in the second room and the holding mechanism exploded. Within 5 minutes I thought I had arrived at faulty towers. I read a previous review which mentioned quiet location, this is not the case if you are this close to the A4 and your window will not close.
Food awful, building in poor state and blocked fire escape.
Staff were helpful in general and room was OK although very hot and difficult to sleep because of this
Food overpriced and poor vfm. No steak knife provided with £15 steak. Bar food at restaurant prices
Apart from the location and WiFi I haven't anything positive to say about this hotel.
The first room I was given had a large damp patch on the wall and smelt dreadfully. When I asked to be moved there was not an issue but the receptionist said she was unaware of the damp which I find hard to believe as it was not a recent problem. The rest of the hotel inside and out was very tired and in need of some serious housekeeping. Not a hotel I would consider booking again.
from outside it looked unkempt and abandoned.on arriving we had to hunt for a member of staff (eventually found one in the kitchen) the corridor and our room stank of cigarette smoke. the service and quality of breakfast was very poor(vending machine coffee!!!)
