The location of the hotel is peaceful and has rural aspect (which is at a premium in Milton Keynes). Reception areas have been refurbished in the past 2-3 years, and are business like, yet relaxing. Reception area is a bit cramped (in main corridor, so awkward when checking out), but staff are friendly and efficient. Breakfast is good quality buffet with attentive staff. My room was in the main building rather than the rear extension. The original main building is old (guessing 100 years) and my room was slightly quirky (door not level at top for example, but closed OK). In a way it was nice to stay there, especially as it wasn't a 'box' like so many hotels these days. Bed very comfortable, everything was clean and worked OK Bar slightly overpriced, did not eat in restaurant in the evening so can't comment on that. Reception is in main corridor so can be cramped when people are checking out.

Room was very comfortable. Location out of town meant there was no noise or disturbance. Staff were friendly and helpful. Shower was pathetic - little more than a trickle.

Comfortable Helpful staff with restaurant recommendations Delicious food but I got food poisoning and they would not refund any money. We only wanted the price of one meal. They said it was a problem with my constitution. This did not seem unreasonable bearing in mind the violoence of the illness clearly caused by shellfish. this is no reflection on them, I am sure they serve fresh food but everyone knows that seafood can be dodgy. One tenth of our bill would not have been unreasonable to pay back. Now we will never stay at a Mercure hotel again and we will tell our friends of our poor experience.

Although we only stayed for one night, the accommodation was fantastic and the staff were very friendly, although the desk clerk seemed a little cold the barman for the night was wonderful and enthusiastic. The bedroom was beautiful, the bed was comfortable and everything was spacious with a wonderful view outside. Overall, everything was incredibly enjoyable and myself and my partner came away very relaxed. If anything, the pillows were very solid and hard. It'd compliment the bedsheets if you provided softer pillows either throughout the hotel or in the wardrobes like some other hotels. Also, perhaps consider providing taxi rank services to the hotel from the station.

The staff were excellent and the room was quiet, clean, and comfortable with the exception of what I've listed below. The food was very good in the restaurant and the service was exceptional. A winter special advertised in the room offering 3 courses for the price of 2 was news to the restaurant staff who charged full fare. This was corrected on checkout. The cleanliness of the room was very good but could be improved by removing the dusty cobwebs that are at eye level throughout the room and bath (where eaves meet walls)

It was a comfortable clean room and the staff were very good. Unfortunately the walls are paper thin (I could actually hear which channel the couple next door were watching on tv) and the location right next to the local church meant getting woken up early sunday by bells ringing for over half an hour. Not comfortable or relaxing!

By far and away the greatest asset of this business is the front of house staff. Both friendly and well informed, the levels of customer service were exemplary. Entrance to the hotel and the corridors leading to rooms were a little tatty and in need of upgrade.

I liked the fact that nothing was too much trouble, the staff were lovely and made one feel very welcome. It was warm, clean and well run. I was only there for one night, so as long as it was well kept and clean I was happy, but the bonus was the delightful surroundings, an extremely clean and well proportioned room and warm welcome.

Good location near our office and rural feel right on edge of town - next to walks across managed parkland. Great afternoon tea and quality breakfast. Good value accommodation but food more expensive. Lack of leisure facilities.

The staff were excellent but our stay never met our expectation having asked for a quiet room we were in hearing distance from the m1 motorway and another very busy trunk road so our expected peace and quiet three nights were blotted somewhat. We asked for the toilet and lobby light to be serviced and it was not. Staff gave us the opportunity to change rooms but the bathroom of the alternate bedroom was dirty so we stayed in first though uncomfortable room. The price of soft drinks in the lounge was grossly inflated and the quality therein was shabby. The overall appearance of the hotel needs a huge makeover as the carpets were both dirty and badly worn throughout, even in the bedroom. We werre only staying because our friend booked the room and could not stay due to family reasons otherwise we would have complained even more. Our friend's credit card was charged twice and the hotel didn't mention a word about that so we suggest they are only interested in the bottom profit line and never their paying guests. Not a comforting ideal. We liked the staff but felt they were working under pressure to provide. As a gesture of goodwill, we received a two-drink voucher but on enquiring about was this sort of voucher rare, we were inforned that it happens all the time so this says a great deal about the lack of interest in making guests' experience comfortable and unique.
