The room was very cold, we had to get a electric heater.I think this was down to old central heating that didnt heat up well, and the windows were very old( not double glazed) so let in cold and was noisy. The worst thing was the breakfast, i have traveled a lot and never been given lunchen meat for brekfast befor, there was toast and cerial, but was expecting more. |

I liked the location, easy to drive to and bus stop outside to the city centre. The staff were friendly and the huge room they gave me in the flat below the old house was great, complete with double shower. The heating was not turned on at night, the hot water in the wash basin did not seem to work in the morning, neither did the TV, there was a function on in the basement which was quite noisy (until 12.30 or so) and the couple in the room above had a fight and it felt as if they were about to plunge through the ceiling. Possibly just an unfortunate co-incidence for all of these. Wouldn't put me off but I would definitely ask for the heating to be on at night. And a fry-up instead of buffet breakfast? |

Clean and easily found. Close to city amenities but far enough away for a quiet nights stay. Not a lot of traffic, despite being on a main road. Wel worth another visit. |

the peaceful, yet central location and the proximaty to bus stops that run regularly into town. i would have preferred to see a cooked breakfast aswewll as a continental one on the menu. |

I don't like this hotel, very bad experience. My room is near the dining room. If I opened the room door, it is the dining room. Dirty sheets, poor facilities. anyway, very bad |

The breakfast was not even cooked (continental only) The location was a little too far out of the city and the road noise kept me awake. The bed was not comfortable and there was not even a bath mat. The water was nearly cold on my last morning. For the price it was very poor value for money. |

easy and quick to reach by public transportation from the city center; off the beaten tourist track; the bars/pubs/restaurants in the area (in walking distance) are of high quality yet reasonably priced and patronised by locals rather then tourist herds; wifi in the room worked really well; when we rented a car parking was easy to find |

The hotel was relatively close to Edinburgh city centre, and only a 15 minute bus ride away (with a bus stop just outside the hotel). The room was spacious with a comfortable bed and a nice ensuite. The staff were friendly and the location was quiet. The walls are thin and on one night in particular we were kept awake until 1.30am by a function in another part of the hotel (which included someone trying to get in to our room). The breakfast was a limited with a relatively early finish, finishing at 8.30am Monday - Friday. On some occasions, some of the staff noise were loud at night which again woke us up, though they were understanding when asked if they could keep the noise down. Something to mention, directly outside our bedroom window was an oil drum which the hotel use to incinerate items. An unusual view! |

Very little......quite large room after 1st room given was awful. Room offered was minute as it was supposed to be double room. I am thin person and could barely get past side of bed. Toilet seat was broken and tv barely worked with no remote control. Headboard on bed broken and springs on bed going through if u pushed down. After informing staff, i was given another room which was a lot better. However staircase is full of hairs on floor all the way up to room. Breakfast was no more than toast, cereal and tea / coffee - very poor. |

Nothing at all. They gave me a small room in a side house. They did not clear the room everyday. It was too expensive. |

Rooms clean. We had no hot water and when informed the staff did not care and did not offer a discount. The breakfast was meager and late, the beds were surprisingly uncomfortable and the hotel Walls were paper thin. |

The only positive things I can say about this hotel is that the receptionist (who we only saw the once) was friendly and polite, an the bedding was clean. It was shoddy, dirty and noisy I had put my bag on top of the wardrobe (which wasn't very high), and when I took it down, I brought down a whole cloud of dust with it. The water was either boiling hot or freezing cold. I appreciate that they are going through a room by room renovation, but there is no excuse for a grubby bathroom. |

avoid as much as possible. I was told the breakfast is 8-10 only to find out next morning that is from 8 to 9. There is a party-hall downstairs and all the guests walk trough the hotel to have a fag outside,it is awfull, couldn't sleep untill 4am. On top of thaat, some workers were renovating the room next door at 8 am saturday...don't go there! |
