The Parliament House Hotel  

Parliament House Hotel is ideally situated for the train station also central for all services without having to walk miles, also the price was amazing. Room and bathroom was very clean and all the items you would require. Our room was so quiet as I am a light sleeper I was expecting to be wakened but slept through every night (4) I will stay again when I am back in Edinburgh, and will recommed the hotel to family and friends. Thank you

My only problem was with the food on the menu, as i have a stomach complaint I cant eat anything with lots of spice or fat. I was served a plate of porridge and can honestly say I have never had anything like it, horrible! We had to eat out all the time, but the staff in the restaurant tried very hard to please me. This is not a complaint just a comment.

While I realize that short stays for single people are not the best value for the hotel, I do think you might want to consider the age and abilities of your guests before sending theup up 4 flights, only to then have to climb down a spiral staircase for 3 flights. My room was comfortable, but difficult to get in and out of.

Very pleasant stay, perfectly located on a quiet side street but only 2 mins away from princes street, shops and the heart of Edinbugh. Highly recommend it, great beds, slept heavenly, sweet and cosy entrance with open fire.. Lovely atmosphere.

I loved the old world atmosphere which was so welcoming in comparison to the impersonal sleek modernity you encounter in so many hotels. At the Parliament House Hotel one can curl up in an armchair in front of a fire in the small lobby after coming back in on a cold day. My husband and I found breakfasts and dinners in the hotel dining room delicious. The location was convenient--an easy walk to the center of town-- and we very much enjoyed our morning climbs to the top of Calton Hill, practically right outside the hotel door. We will certainly stay there on another trip to Edinburgh, and happily recommend it to others.

The only thing I didn't like was the inability to open the window and consequent lack of fresh air in the room.

The location is excellent - convenient to the train station, close to Carlton Hill Park and an easy walk to the castle and shopping streets. The room was quiet and beds were comfortable.

I was not thrilled with being put in a handicap room. My son and I are both tall people and using the bathroom was a bother with everything low and the open shower was messy. Breakfast offering was OK but could use a little more variety.

Good location. Our room 205 was shoddy and the linen tatty and rather cramped. Our friends room 14 was a lot better. We paid the same felt cheated . However would stay again but would ask for room 14.

We had booked two shows in the Playhouse Theatre and the hotel is very handy for this theatre. Because of its outlook over a steep cobbled street there was very little traffic so it was nice and quiet. Furthermore, it is an ideal location for Princes Street and has bus stops close at hand.

I didn`t really like having to add breakfast on as an extra. The J- rooms were quite difficult to find first time and getting from the lift to these is awkward to get to with a suitcase. However, the circular stair was a nice feature.

We enjoyed our stay more because we ended up with a very nice large room (no.8)which was unexpected but very welcome. Thanks.

Very friendly helpful staff from the minute we arrived to leaving Our train did not leave Edinburgh until 6.45pm and although check out was 11.00am we were able to leave our luggage at the hotel until we wanted to collect it at 5.30pm, which gave us another hassle free day to enjoy Edinburgh. Although we did not take advantage of evening meals, the breakfasts, which were included in our deal, were good and substantial. The hotel was a short walk, about 10 mins, to the Waverley Railway Station and Princes Street The room was clean comfortable and well presented, the public area was cosy, warm and welcoming, especially so, as the weather was not kind to us and most times we came back cold and wet!
