The hotel is just far enough away to be quiet, but near enough to walk to the main events and tourist attractions. Rooms are above average and being on the top floor afforded a great view of Calton Hill, and the torchlight procession without having to be in the cold. Room service was excellent, changed everyday. Used the MP's restuarant almost everyday, and found the food excellent. Breakfast is great value for money with plenty of choices. Staff could not be more attentive during this busy period. Will definately book again. Hotel appears a little dated at first, but adds to the atmosphere, shame the old fashioned lift is not working, would help with the stairs after a long days sightseeing.

The location is excellent. The staff were welcoming and friendly. Our room was not small but had a cosy feel to it. The lounge and bar were very comfortable and the blazing fire was very welcoming after a cold day in the city. We enjoyed our stay and will go back.

It's location was perfect for the shops and main attractions. 24 hour room service was good, as was free connection to the internet. The staff were friendly. The room was clean and warm. The only negative was the plumbing noises as people took early showers, but this wasn't really that bad.

We had a lovely stay at The Parliament House Hotel. We had booked for the Thursday night but could not travel through because of the gales. We phoned the Hotel to ask if we could change our booking to the Friday night and they were extremely helpful and agreed to do this for us at no extra charge. The location of the hotel is excellent and is near the train station and the main shopping area. The hotel has a lot of character and as soon as you walk in the door you are greeted by the sight of a lovely real fire blazing. On a cold and snowy day this was a lovely sight. It is also a nice place to sit for a night-cap before retiring. The breakfast was plentiful and our poached eggs were cooked to perfection. The staff were very friendly and hard-working and could not be faulted. I would definately recommend this hotel and look forward to staying there again.

The rooms and the staff were fantastic. The hotel is set on a quiet street, convenient to the city centre. Ambiance was terrific and it was easy to find. The food and breakfast were not the best, but the breakfast is optional. We found a great little cafe close to the museum and had breakfast there.

The room I stayed in was really nice. Not flawless, but well decorated, spacious and comfortable. I believe there was free internet too (I didn't get the opportunity to try it out), but it would be a reason on it's own for me to return. The staff I encountered were very courteous, polite and helpful - 10 out of 10 to them ! It's a good hotel. A minor oversight by the hotel was no milk or whitener to go with the complimentary tea and coffee in my room. The main thing I wasn't too enamoured by though was the Bistro restaurant food. I had a lovely soup, but didn't enjoy my main meal - of burger with chips. It was well cooked and seasoned, but the taste unfamilar. I couldn't fathom what the chips had been flavoured with, the salad just tasted like cut grass, the tomtato relish not up to much, and too much bread bun. The breakfast was not the best I've had either - although they did tell the table next to me that they were a bit under-staffed that morning. Shame really - as the hotel is definately one to go back to otherwise.

I thought it was in a lovely street and very attractive facade and reception areas - love the lift! The room was excellent. I was impressed with speed my room was made ready - I was early! The dining area - ghastly mix of decoration styles, intrusive music and wittering and an extremely underwhelming continental breakfast - what a let down! In the room tea and coffee would have been good! Bathroom definitely needs update (and a clean behind basin).

The Parliament House Hotel offers very clean, comfortable and affordable accommodation near the city centre. The hotel has some lovely original features. Individual rooms were very spacious and well furnished. The staff were more than helpful and the food was excellent.
