Our room was comfortable and clean. Location was good Our room was on top floor with no lift, staff at reception desk did not tell us this and we struggled with carrying luggage up all the stairs.

Our room was very comfortable, however we had to go up in a lift and then we had to walk down 2 flights of spiral stairs with two large and two small suitcases. It was not made clear to us when we checked in that access was difficult. Certainly not for anyone who was not fit and able. Assistance was only offered the next day when a staff member overheard us talking about how difficult we found lugging our cases back up to check out. We were travelling with friends who's room was beside ours. We are in our sixties and our friends in their seventies. If you go to this hotel make sure you do not have rooms that start with the letter J.

Customer service was good. A welcoming fire when you enter the hotel created a lovely ambience and atmosphere. Furniture was traditional with comfy settees and chairs. Food was excellent in the Bistro with attentive friendly staff. Situated very close to the main tourist attractions but far enough away to make it feel special. On the whole a very warm, welcoming, feel good hotel.... Nothing not to like, would love to stay again.

staff friendly and heedful ; quick answer at any request. The old structure of hotel is a problem; botched with a nail the broken window.

Comfortable bed, helpful staff, room temperature good, excellent extra cushions including bolsters. No secure storage for early arrivals, very poor bathroom lighting (could not see one's face clearly in bathroom due shadows), main bedside lights could only be switched off by getting out of bed, bottom sheet on bed was too small and rucked up if you sat up, mean coffee/tea provisions.

Despite arriving earlier than check-in time, we were allowed access to our room. Very clean, modern and stylish, which we really appreciated - especially after some of the awful hotels we have stayed at over the past week. We liked everything about the hotel, thank you, and would definitely stay again.

Liked where hotel was. Very quiet room. Were able to check in early. Good price for location. We were on the fifth floor with no lift. This was a bit exhausting for us, an elderly couple would have difficulty.

Very spacious, meticulously clean, and comfortable room. Good location, quiet but still fairly central. Some noise from neighbouring room, due to presence of a communicating door with my room.

The hotel is close enough to the bus station, shopping centre and the playhouse we didnt have to travel far at all for anything! No outside noise. No pen in the room to fill out the mini bar form, had to do it with eye liner!

Rooms were immaculate and the bed was really comfortable. Proper old fashioned hotel customer service as opposed to the "bed factory" that has become the norm! The location of the room was a bit of a hike (going up to 4th floor in lift then back down a spiral staircase to our room) Wasn't a problem for us- but may be for other guests.

The location was fantastic - just a few minutes walk from Waverley station, Princes St, the Royal Mile, Holyrood Park, Edinburgh Castle. Lots of places nearby to eat and right next door to Calton Hill. The hotel has lots of atmosphere and there is a cosy fire in the lounge are. The lift and stairs were a bit tricky - especially with luggage but that is the nature of old buildings. Just ask the staff for help if you require it.

It was booked for my mum and dads wedding anniversary and they were extreamly happy with everything. They loved the room, staff and breakfast and had no complaints. They enjoyed there stay and the surroundings. They enjoyed the idea of a bath in the room due to all the walking it was used. The room was spacious, clean and warm.

Comfortable bed, welcome after a long journey. Good decor in the room and good bathroom facilities. Lift not working, so had to carry our luggage upstairs. Faulty light/fused light at entrance to the room, which left us fumbling around for a light as it was going dark. Not a particularly warm welcome, such a contrast to all the places we had just visited in Berlin and Prague.
