Booking of restaurant was a joke!!!. Already had booked room. Phoned to book dinner and told to do it online. Booked and confirmed then had to phone with card details + preorder. Empty restaurant, I wonder why? Paul Sode? Charged for room drink we did not have. Give it a miss!
Location Traditional hotel
We loved the main entrance which was warm and cosy with a lovely fire in the grate and a pretty christmas tree. Our room was spacious and nicely decorated. Breakfast was adequate and served until 10. Great location. 5 minutes from Waverley station and end of Princes St.
The bed was very soft and not especially comfortable. One of the pillow cases came partially adrift and this revealed a nasty stain on the pillow. The carpet was quite stained too. The bathroom definitely needed modernising. The grout around the bath was mouldy in places. We had to ask for milk on both days we were there as it appeared to have been forgotten.
Although we were facing onto a back street the traffic noise from the streets prevent a restful night
The hotel is easy walking distance from the station, it's a gorgeous building and the staff were great
Only slight downside was the noise from other bathrooms first thing in the morning after we'd had much mulled wine at the Christmas markets!
Convenient location and with a certain character which is clearly what one was paying for. Breakfast uninspiring. Staff pleasanr
Warm and comfortable environment during the Scottish cold whether. Staff were attentive and professional without being overwhelming. Food was of a high standard and good value.
Tea making facilities were a bit limited, would have enjoyed a biscuit if provided. Having to keep signing into the hotel wifi system each you needed to use.
Everything about the hotel was fab! The location could not have been better, the staff excellent. Would definitely stay there again.
Location - very near Waverley station.
Plastic under-sheet on bed
Very friendly staff Warm comfortable room Lovely Xmas tree Welcoming reception area
Breakfast nice but not really value for money @ £13.00, though it was included in our room deal No shower tidy in bathroom Room 305 carpet could do with a shampoo
wonderful situation very good breakfast good coffee comfortable lounge
we had to inform management of some issues in the room: poor electrics and a water leak in the bathroom ceiling but it was dealt with promptly.
The location was very good, very central very easy to locate and come and go from. The reception area was very cosy and inviting also homely, the bed and pillows were the best I've ever slept on which makes a huge difference, curtains kept out light which made sleeping fantastic no outside noise, I felt me and my belong innings were very safe being a solo traveller that really matters, staff were lovely really enjoyed my stay.
The only negative not for me but possibly older people lifting suitcases up the stairs, that's it everything else is perfect.
Dated, but run down
Nothing manger mugged up booking he useless Never stay again
Location Was only good thing
The location of this hotel is easy to find, close to all attractions and shopping malls/streets. Cinema complex 5 mins walk down the hill. Cafe round the corner for breakfast.
Room relied on lamps for lighting, which meant the room seemed dark and the the bed was to soft for my back (little things).
Good place to stay
the location was very good. proximity to city
Quiet room. Comfortable bed. Warm room but with windows which opened for fresh air. Most pleasant staff. Good restaurant.
On arrival I advised reception that the bathroom sink had no stopper. No attempt made to mend this plunger. Poor quality wifi. Very limited shelf space in bathroom. Toilet bowl could be cleaner! Rather stiff shower controls.
The location of the hotel was excellent staff very friendly and helpful and the room was spotlessly clean.
The view from the window was a little off putting however when we returned each evening it was dark so not too much of a problem.
Stylish décor, comfortable rooms, good breakfast choice in pleasant surroundings. Bistro offered good choice evening meals at reasonable prices. Handy for Waverley Station.
May not be the best for anyone with moboility problems.
Good location, convenient for all city attractions Pleasant and helpful staff Welcoming lobby with real fire Comfortable rooms
Some very minor disturbance from late night revelers outside at rear
Traditional, homely. Quality
Shower stopped working after 15 seconds!
The ambiance of the hotel is warm and inviting. The staff were very helpful and made us feel at home. While the rooms are not large, they are very clean and comfortable. The location is also excellent.
To be honest, there was nothing I found objectionable and I travel to Europe regularly.
It is very convienent for anyone wanting to see Edinburgh, and it's main sites. All in walking distance from hotel. The girls serving breakfast and evening meals were lovely. My friend and I had a lovely stay I would stay here again.
Sometimes when you are staying with a friend a twin room you like a bit of space between the beds.It might not suit everyone to have the beds next to each other, as were.
