From start to finish the stay was excellent. The hotel staff were very friendly and it was nice to recieve a good wholesome Yorkshire welcome. The rooms were spacious and very clean, impressing even my daughter who works in the hotel trade. The quality and service in both restaurants were well above that expected and the siting of the diners tables in the pastures restaurant without children away from those with younger children led to a lovely quiet and relaxed meal. Good quantities and quality of meals were enjoyed and service was discreet, never intruding on your personnal space. The appearance of the hotel from outside was fantastic with a clean and well managed frontage. Interior spaces were very relaxing with enjoyable surroundings and atmosphere. I will defintely be booking there again when next visiting my family in the local area. For the quality of service and standards the price was extremely good value for money.

Ideal location for visiting family in Rotherham. Hotel is very comfortable friendly and immaculately clean. We had a family room for us and toddler and room was very spacious and totally met our needs with out any faults. Breakfast service was very professional and more akin to 4* than 3 with good selection able to assist with vegetarian sausages on request which isn't always the case. The only regret we had was that we had was we ate in the pub opposite which is a different business but owned by same people (it was dire). The Reeds restaurant in the hotel looked far nicer and not much more expensive. Bar service was also miles better too. Only way to improve hotel would be to increase TV chanels in room as I missed BBC news but trivial issue. Would use again and recommend. None totally satisfied

Like tis hotel as the food is all locally sourced and the satff are all local people and very friendly. We had been to Sheffield City hall to a concert and when we got back to the hotel at around 11 we went into the bar for a drink and we were feeling a little hungry and though the chef was about to go off duty it was no trouble to him to make us 2 rounds of sanwhiches. We often stay at this hotel as bothe my sons live in Conisbrough and it easier to stay with you and good value than to stay with family and then we can do our own thing go shopping etc. Nothing everything was spot on and always is.

We stayed at this hotel for two nights (Friday and Saturday) - we were booked into a double room with breakfast included. The location was nice - the breakfast restaurant overlooked the water and hills beyond - though don't bother walking along the tow path unless you are immune to dog mess! The room was on the Ground floor and on the front side of the building - this meant that it was a little dark, and this was not helped by the small window. The room was furnished to a good standard - two chairs, desk with reading light, flat screen TV, tea and coffee making facilities, large wardrobe and large shower room with WC (no bath though sadly!). The room and bathroom were very clean and well appointed and the bedding had crisp white sheets and additional pillows. The only "downside" was that I could feel the mattress "buttons" through the bottom sheet. The TV had limited channels - though again, good enough for our stay. We both slept well, and despite being on the Ground Floor, fellow guests were quiet, and we were not disturbed by too many banging connecting doors and car doors (especially since our room faced the car park). Breakfast was good and varied - a good selection of fresh fruit (strawberries, pineapple, apple, orange, fruit salad), tinned fruits (prunes, grapefruit), locally produced yogurts (no cheeses or hams for those of you who like the European style breakfast), cereals, cake muffins, toast, croissants, and a good cooked selection (eggs, bacon, sausages, black pudding, beans, tinned tomatoes, grilled tomatoes, mushrooms, hash browns and fried bread). You could also order porridge, and poached or boiled eggs, and even a vegetarian cooked breakfast and they served coffee and tea at the table. I was impressed that they could also offer gluten free options, and even diabetic friendly condiments. The waiting service was friendly and helpful WHEN ASKED (they did do alot of standing around and chatting to each other I noticed! The room was very warm and the room temperature could not be controlled - we had to open the window in the end and endure wintry winds! And we were on the ground floor.

It exceeded expectations, location, cleanliness and friendly staff. Breakfast was good too! Wardrobes stiff and heavy doors. Dull room and bathroom. Newspapers restricted to hotel. All a bit picky - it was generally good!

Very friendly and helpful staff, the room was clean and well maintained - but despite having the window open and no heating on, it became almost unbearably hot during the night. In fact, the whole hotel was, at times, quite stifling with the heat. The breakfast was good - not quite excellent, but definitely passable. The prices in the restaurant were quite high, so we opted to eat in the Pastures Lodge, which is on the other side of the carpark - and now I don't recommend eating there unless you enjoy fried, over-cooked food with watery frozen vegetables. (And if you don't like cheese, you'll be hard pushed to find anything on the menu that you'd enjoy anyway.) The heat! Even the staff said that they found it too much at times. Also, despite there being four staff behind the bar, and no other customers, it still took ten minutes to be served.

Found the hotel gave us a very comfortable night whilst cycling the trans pennine trail. There were ten in our group and the receptionist did not seem to be phased by the fact that we arrived in somewhat muddy condition. It was a good place to get cleaned up and relaxed ready for the next leg of the journey the following day. As far as cyclists are concerned it might be better to have a dedicated room to lock up bikes rather than the fire escape stairwell.
