Best thing was location rest was rubbish Lack of friendly service - no greeting or showing to room, I arrived to meet my partner we had to travel separately from different places cos of work, so mr partner arrived first with all our luggage, no offer of help to room, she struggled to locate correct room just being told ' on first floor' also came across 3 other people also looking for their rooms in a maze of corridoors, payment requested on her arrival my card used as booking guarantee and obviously my partner did not have my card I have never been asked to pay on arrival before and stayed in hotels all over the country and the world . My partner did not know if towels provided so brought some from home which was good as wet used ones in bathroom. General impression of hotel was very tired and grubby looking. Very noisy and inconsiderate fellow guests so not the break we had hoped for. We thought £8.50 each was steep but no cooking smells to tempt us anyway so went to local supermarket 2 breakfasts for £7.75

It was within walking distance of where I wanted to go. It had parking. The first room we were given was unmade- at 6pm The second room was small. It had a 4ft radiator in it that was burning hot. The room was stiffling. The radiator had a broken control held with a clip and would not turn off. The receptionist also tried. I was told that the central heating went off at 11pm and to open a window. In fact the radiator stayed on all the long night, it must have been linked to the hot water system. It was too hot to sleep and too late to move by the time I realised it was not going to switch off at 11. The window opened out on to a flat roof adjacent to a fire escape. Not exactly secure. The shower was also broken. I mean broken, not difficult to use. The bathroom had black mould and rusting fittings. The wallpaper next to my bed had stains on it.

The kettle was probably the best part of our stay. The front door on leaving too. Bathroom, bed, lack of digital tv, view and the tunes that the coolant fan made throughout the night

My husband and I stayed for 9 nights in December, up to 24th and felt the hotel was very good value for money. Also, the location was excellent for going in and out of Norwich centre. The reception staff were friendly, efficient and helpful. Breakfast was also good value for money. There was a bit of early morning plumbing noise from the floor above.

Staff friendly on arrival. Allowed use of room very early in the morning to store luggage for all of our party. Rooms were basic but comfortable. Plus the hotel itself is just a few minutes walk from the station.

The hotel has a good central location, easy to find, and very close to the railway station. In definite need of some sound proofing, even with windows closed could hear the sound of the football ground, and woken up early Sunday morning ,to the sound of another guest being violently ill in another room !!!!!!!. The bedroom could also do with some renovation ,ours was rather tired looking.

My Mum and I enjoyed our stay. The staff were very hospitable and accomodating. It was quiet, lovely and warm! Spacious rooms, comfortable and clean beds. Tea/coffee making facilities and biscuits were provided. Two comfortable chairs in the room too. The en-suite was a reasonable size and there were basic complementary toiletries on offer. You could have a bath or shower because there was a shower over the bath. There was a wide selection for breakfast, which was filling and tasty.

Breakfast was lovely. There were many positive points but the negative ones were, the decoration was tired in the rooms. In room 45 the shower worked when it felt like it and there were lights not working. This gave the impression the hotel needed more tlc.

Staff Friendly & helpfull. Has lift to all floors = very important for me ( had forgot to ask this when booking ) Not a complaint , Was aware that the cooked breakfast was £10 extra. Had assumed that tea/toast option was included in room price, but was not, cost was £5 for this. Wish I had known in advance, as the cooked breakfast would have been a better deal. The decor, carpet of room very worn, but basic & adequate. Very good value on the whole.

location decor not touched since 1970s , dirty room wrote name in dust on glass shelves- bed old and very squeaky as was floorboards , electric light fitting over wc not legal ( open bc fitting ) cobwebs abound ,bath panel damaged and unsightly , ceilings badly cracked and flaking , bedroom side lights shades cracked with age and heat ,carpets very very old and worn and stained very noisy from upstairs and the bins outside constantly in use from 6.00am , No snob but stayed in premier inn at peterborough the night before for £ 29 if that as a guide was rated 10 Lansdowne is a 2 and that's where we are .

The only good thing about this hotel was that the staff were polite. Basically everthing else was not up to standard, the whole place felt very outdated and the rooms were old tired and grotty. I ceratinly will not be going back.

The staff were exceptionally helpful and pleasant and I was made to feel really welcome and valued. The room was comfortable, clean and had all I needed. The decor is tired and could do with an upgrade. The picture on the website is taken from a distance and when you arrive - it looks uncared for and a little bit tatty which is a shame becuase the experience is very different to what you think you might get.

perfect location, low price. room looked a bit torn and worn ( wallpaper, tiles) but was neverthless comfortable. staff is friendly and helpful. the only thing to really complain about was the toilet flush. low water pressure and the pipes seemed to be somehow blocked. whenever you used the flush you were short before flooding the bathroom.

The hotel staff were very pleasant. The hotel itself was extremely dated and old fashioned. It had an old style lift that was dangerous and with the open metal door system any child could have put their hand straight through the openings and been injured, I felt very unsafe in it and think it needs immediate updating, it was also tiny and highly impractical in size. An old musty smell throughout. As we arrived our television was still being installed which should have been done prior to guest check in time as we had to wait for the technician to leave the room which made me late in getting ready for my interview in the city. The walls were paper thin and the second night we did not get a wink of sleep as at 2am and 4am a party was taking place in a room on our corridor which was ridiculously loud and nothing was done to stop it. We were awoken by the cleaners having a conversation outside of our room also and had to make our own 'please do not disturb' sign and still the cleaners walked into the room twice without knocking. The first night we slept well with no complaints but other than that night the stay was not good. The toilet seat was broken and the window opened all the way out with a two storey sheer drop that any child could have climbed up to. The Landsdowne is in desparate need of an update and I really wish that we had requested some kind of refund for the state of the place and not getting any sleep. Really dissappointing.

Easy access to city centre. A female member of staff was very rude and aggressive when we politely enquired about some compensation for a broken toilet in our room. This was finally agreed to, but we were shocked at the initial reaction.
