Loved the castle accommodation and environs. Very comfortable room and food was good.
I booked a 4 poster room for my son which was lovely and had an old-fashioned style bath which was great to look at but when his girlfriend bathed in it, she was left with a gooey type substance on her skin which actually came from the surface of the bath and not any cleansing gel. I meant to mention it at the time but with the excitement of my son's 21st birthday, it all got forgotten.
It's was amazing everything was perferction
I thought the drinks expensive
Location is fabulous and the rooms are beautiful.
Reception staff appeared to forget about us as a couple of wedding parties came to book in after us. We were kept waiting for almost two hours for our room though it was let slip later it was ready very soon after we arrived.
Waiting time for service Over familiarisation of staff
Something very different in an excellent location.
The bar was in a brasserie so not suitable for having just a drink. Also no waiter service to the TV lounge when we were there so had to trot back and forth to the brasserie. Thought it would have been more appropriate to have it set up as a bar where you can also have a meal
Amazing castle setting, very busy with weddings and corporate events. Beautiful surroundings with splendid high ceilings to bedrooms and smart bathrooms.
Very busy at checkout due to high turnover of wedding guests.
Great location and executive room, loved the en suite with Victorian bath , food also very nice, great breakfast , could just do with staying a bit longer : )
The room although beautifull was a bit warm at night, despite turning off the heating in the room on arrival but I understand its a huge building and must be hard to regulate the heating for the whole building with so many rooms,
Excellent Restaurant. Plenty to do (when not raining)
Room unavailable at agreed check in time. Poor staff response.
Best stay ever
Toilet was hard to flush
The room was very comfortable
Didn't like the fact we had to walk past kitchens to get to our v expensive room! View from window was a disappointment too
enjoyed the afternoon tea and activities
restaurant food needs some improvement.
Fabulous place, staff and setting.
No spa facilities
It's magical absolutely magical!
The castle is beautiful. ..location amazing. Loved the falconry.
Disappointed the wine cellar was closed as we had read good reviews about it.
We liked everything and have recommended it to our friends
Car park was a bit uneven.
Excellent venue good rooms and clean
Poor service staff stood about talking rather than seeing to customers. Service slow and food whilst well presented was cold and several meals returned to the kitchen. A number of dissatisfied customers in the restaurant
Have been once before with friend .this time with my boyfriend for his birthday.it was just as impressive and as lovely as my first vist.the staff are lovely very proffessional but almost homely with it..
It was 109 steps to our turret room.but well worth it..didnt mind at all.
Lovely room, fantastic food (in terms of taste and presentation, just don't expect to feel full!), great staff, idyllic castle charm, complimentary valet service between reception and car park (not highly publicised).
Stung for a small bottle of still water in restaurant whilst distracted (cost £5!) - ask for tap water! Relative towel cleanliness - the cleaners place them on the floor in the hallways prior to room entry - ask for fresh towels! Very warm environment for a castle, and no temperature control in rooms.
Staff at the desk extremely professional. The rooms were spotless and well furnished.
The Kitchen extractor fan outside our window. So noisy. I travelled from London for some quiet. I was so dissappointed I was glad to leave. The partition wall was thin enough to hear the phone conversation/ in the room next door. Service in the Brasserie was slow although the waiter did apologise.
Beautiful property, very nicely done.
Food at restaurant was subpar. Expected much better quality, thus I wouldn't recommend eating there.
there was not many options for vegetarians in the main dishes and people who do not drink alcohol.
Staff very friendly.
With small windows the lighting should be stronger. The energy saving bulbs made it to dark to read in the room.
The castle definitely has the 'wow' factor. The comfort of our room was outstanding - superking size bed, comfortable pillows, thick carpet, great bathroom - and decorated in keeping with being in a castle.
Would have preferred a cooked breakfast made to order rather than a buffet. Wasn't so keen on the toiletries provided.
Everything! We had an amazing time celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary! Highly recommend this hotel to anyone and can't wait to stay again in the future.
