The breakfast was very nice...it was very relaxing We went to the hotel for a wedding, staff very friendly, breakfast was really nice..the hotel grounds was very clean and tidy..the hotel room was cold during the night, and you could hear everyone walking past the room. Overall nice but expensive.

The only thing I liked was leaving after one night even though we had booked for four The hotel is not suitable for holiday guests but more for business functions and weddings etc. the night we stayed we were turned away from the outside bar because it was a private function which was fair enough, however after dinner when we went to the bar we were unable to find adequate seating due to it being taken over by the private function ( bis ) I think.we then decided to visit your wine bar which is very prominent in your advertising only to find you do not open it unless with prior arrangement for a function. When we arrived at reception we were given rooms 301 and 302 which could only be reached by many steps .as we are all in our sixties it was quite a climb and no help available for our bags. We asked for alternative rooms which were available 107 and 108 which had lift access. Why were they not offered on arrival. On our departure the manager asked to see why we were leaving and seemed oblivious to the short comings of the hotel . we left.

It was a beautiful restored medieval castle. Very well maintained. To get to our room, we got to climb the old circular staircase in one of the towers. Our room was in the tower. Stunning views. Beautiful bathrooms with a towel warmer. A real experience. Lovely falcons owl and birds that were outside in the morning so you could go see the raptors. We were two adults traveling with our 18 year old daughter. We booked a room for three adults. They took a regular room for two and squeezed in a third bed at the foot of our bed. There was barely room to walk around the bed let alone a place for our suitcases. I know they had a fire last summer so some rooms are being worked on. But that was not a room for three adults.

We were there for a wedding and it was truly magical, the couple had thought of everything! Maids emptied our bags of our personal belongings and put things we'd left out, for during our stay, in our cases/bags - it was very bizarre!

The setting was idyllic and the room was very comfortable. All the staff were polite and very helpful, they helped to make our stay a very pleasant one. The food was excellent and when we ate in the 1851 restaurant we didn't have to wait very long for each course. The waitress and chef helped to make our birthday celebrations that little bit more special. We felt there could have been more choice on the menus. We were looking forward to having a drink and maybe dining in the wine cellar and were very disappointed when we arrived to find out this is now only used as a function room.

Beautiful castle with close distance to Chester, but far enough away to be very rural and relaxing. Lovely rooms, service and food, however the only negative was the lack of atmosphere but this could well be because we stayed on a Monday and Tuesday night. Breakfast was excellent! Would recommend. A gym and pool would really make this place perfect, however, it was still a very lovely stay.

The castle itself is magical and wonderful. The staff are absolutely outstanding. The food is great. It is wonderful to stay at a castle like this where all the rooms are in the original castle and not in some concrete barrack block stuck on the back. I cannot praise this hotel enough for a truly memorable and wonderful stay. definitely 15 out of 10 from me.

The Castle and the peace and quiet, bliss. The very noisy corridors that creak and shook your room when people walked by.

After arriving in the car park, I was struggling with luggage & was spotted by staff passing by. They immediately rushed over to assist & walked me to reception - Thanks boys! The castle itself is stunning - the woodland setting, the birds of prey etc. The room I shared with a friend (we were attending a wedding) was small, but was ideal for our needs & was very comfortable. As a setting for a wedding it was amazing. We all had a fantastic time. Food was lovely. Would definitely recommend!!

Quite a novelty! We Expected there to be far more information about the story of the place. Neither did the staff know any information, nor was there so much as single leaflet regarding the history of the place. Without a real story of it's own, You end up realising that peckforton is a 'mock' castle. Neverthless It's still impressive and it has obviously been lovingly maintained. Unfortunately The brasserie has no atmosphere whatsoever, which wouldn't be the end of the world if there was anywhere else at all to 'hang out' when youre not in yr room. But other than the 1851 restaurant, where you'd have to eat to get a table in there and which closed early anyway, there was only one bench on the other side of the front lawn. Our room was lovely though, and very tastefully decorated.

The location and surroundings are beautiful and make for good photographs with great backdrops. The castle is very luxurious with improvements being made constantly. The hotel and spa staff were very helpful and friendly with good local knowledge the food at the pheasant inn they recommended was lovely. The bar and food prices are fair considering the location. If you look carefully you will see alot of wildlife that you don't normally see that won't run away upon seeing you. Being able to see the birds of prey sat outside on their perches was great to appreciate the size and beauty of them. The location is great if you are walker and like the open countryside and is within a short drive of the local attractions. It's a big castle but don't expect a guided tour. There are alot of rooms that are quite spectacular but unless you are wedding or business guest you won't get to experience all of them. We were allowed to have a look round after speaking with staff and were escorted by a friendly porter. We stayed initially in an executive double complete with four poster bed sadly it became obvious that the room hadn't been cleaned properly for some time with unhealthy layers of dust on top of the bed and around the bed drapes and in the bathroom. It is a castle so I was expecting a little dust but this had obviously been overlooked for some time. No other rooms were available of that spec so had to settle for a move to a standard double and was refunded the difference and had our meal deducted from the bill. We left feeling a bit dejected having arrived with high expectations the staff were very good and even recommended but let themselves down with the attention to detail.

The opportunity to stay in a castle with all the facilities of a quality hotel. Some areas of the castle (those not used regularly) looked a little shabby and smelled musty.

The setting and the staff were fantastic, if you want to stay in a real Castle then this is it.Its peacocks its Birds of prey all add to the effect. As it is Grade One listed the noise from the toilet unit was loud but thats about it.
