Score from 769 reviews Fabulous
excellent food Clean Friendly staff
room quite small and couldn't open the window
Lovely building and decor in public areas, pretty view from our room (15), very good breakfast for a large group
Single beds pushed together, noisy plumbing, extractor fan not working in toilet, bedside light nearest the door not working. £110 is on the high side for the size of room and facilities
Comfort of my room Excellent food and friendly staff Great location in centre of Lewes
The fact that there isn't a lift and most of our party were on the 2nd floor did cause a slight problem. Although staff were generally willing to carry luggage upstairs.
Staff appropriately attentive and helpful. Lovely environment and decor. Fabulous breakfast Will definitely stay again!
Really comfortable bed, friendly staff, the room was spacious and clean. Very warm room and tasty chocs!
The bathroom is tired, leaking shower and mouldy in the corners, staff clearly tried their best to keep it clean but it needs replacing.
Central location. Comfy beds.
Climbing the stairs. Chilly room. Haphazard breakfast service.
Right in the centre of Lewes so you just walk a few steps and you're in the town. Liked the original house, where we had our room as opposed to the annex.
Staff friendly but could improve on service, eg our breakfast order was forgotten. A better parking reservation.system would help. We had booked a,space in advance but when we went out in the evening and, came back, there were no spaces.
The location , the cosyness and the bubble and squeak for breakfast
The steps to go up to room 17
Breakfast was amazing and staff v helpful and friendly
Small room with no hairdryer, no shower curtain, no fridge, no biscuits and no real milk. This is more the standard you'd expect from a £70 a night b&b but this hotel is twice that!!
Food was excellent.
Window rattled in the wind.
Location is good and staff were attentive. Breakfast was really good.
The Hotel is in need of some refurbishment and it was hard to see why it had a 4* rating at the time we visited. We had room 16 which is up in the roof. It was very small and when we had removed the fan, ironing board and bag rack from the wardrobe so we could hang clothes, there was even less room! The bathroom, probably because of it's low ceiling and poor ventilation had mold. The sink and toilet weren't clean either.
Lovely old building.was given a historical fact sheet to read .found it very interesting
Didn't like the old window rattling all night. but I think we stayed on the windiest night ever
The staff were pleasant, the location good and the breakfast good.
THE BEDS WERE DIABOLICALLY UNCOMFORTABLE. REALLY DISGRACEFUL. SO HARD. WE HAD TO FOLD THE DUVET UNDER US TO TRY AND SOFTEN IT AND WE STILL HAD A TERRIBLE NIGHT!!!
Lovely peaceful room with a large comfortable bed and great view. Excellent breakfasts and good service.
Near the town centre but quiet, and lovely gardens.
The pillows were too thin.
The staff were really lovely..friendly, helpful, kind and efficient...The food was delicious..both dinner and breakfast..and my room was beautiful and cosy..I was sad to leave..Thank you for another lovely stay in my favourite hotel.
I didnt like having to leave thats all! Im already looking forward to my next stay...
Pleasantly surprised, very close to the centre, nice double room just outside the house in the annex which was good for us noisy drunks. Great breakfast.
We stayed 1 night as we visited Glyndebourne. The car parking was good as it is in the court yard. Parking on street is available but you have to be quick and pay at the meter. Staff were very helpful as we arrived in the afternoon and then off the the opera. No time to chat. Reception was business like and good. We drove to the opera and had a good time. Returned to hotel and all car parking taken. No problem leave the car blocking others in and leave the keys with reception. This I did and it was fine. Went to the bar for a drink. The barman was very good and they had local beer. Excellent. Breakfast was good cooked to our likening. The toast was cut thick and was good. The room was small but it was ok. No problems. All facilities worked. Would like to visit again and stay at The Pelham House but spend more time in Lewes exploring
small bedroom but no real problem
Very high quality of all aspects of the room and the breakfast Informal, friendly attitude of all the staff Beautiful gardens
The staff were really helpful and friendly and the building was lovely. The breakfast was excellent with nice choices from a continental selection and a cooked menu. We were offers an upgrade for £15 which was nice.
Only downside was paying £6.50 to park at the hotel
Almost everything. The lady on reception couldn't have been more helpful and the restaurant was excellent for both dinner and breakfast. Staff very courteous throughout. Lovely sunny garden at back and although located right in the middle of Lewes we parked easily.
Having to leave.
Staff at the breakfast being unkind. Had same experience three years ago.
My boyfriend and I stayed at Pelham house friday 10th October for a birthday celebration. The customer service was excellent from the moment we walked through the door. Beautiful and spotless room (room 6). With the rain pouring down outside we had no reason to leave the hotel.. So spent our night drinking excellent cocktails and eating tasty food! Would definitely recommend for any occasion! Thanks Pelham house for a beautiful stay :)
Central but quiet location, with comfortable beds, friendly staff and a good atmosphere. A delightful building with history and character plus the inevitable creaky floorboard here & there. We've stayed elsewhere In Lewes and this is the best of the bunch & reasonable enough if you book far enough ahead - otherwise it's pricey.
Twins beds are a bit narrow; ensuite shower room tiny for an Executive room. Nb charge of 6.50 per day for car parking on site; on-street parking outside at 2gbp per hour - park further away in town car-parks for better rates.
My room was cold despite complaining several times.
