The staff were very friendly, the food excellent, the art all over the walls fascinating - the general ambiance incredibly relaxing. Great views from my attic room of the Downs. A great place to go for some peace.

Good hearty breakfast.Comfortable room. Pelham house looks lovely on the internet so we were somewhat disappointed to be shown our room in a converted garage block across the car park. Ok our room was a standard room however the hotel should make it clear in its advertising that guests in standard rooms will be accommodated in a rather characterless annexe. Car parking is limited and appears to favour guests staying for dinner. We were turfed out of the car park and parked at the station. Overall a rather pretentious establishment.

The food was totally excellent. Having a young child we chose to have dinner in our room and to our surprise, they catered the starters first and brought the main course after an appropriate time. Brilliant. A bit inpatient waitress at breakfast left a slight shade to my memory. Shame.

Lovely hotel in the very charming historic town of Lewes. Pleasant staff were welcoming and helpful . Quaint room in the eaves of the main hotel building. Breakfast was one of the nicest and freshest I have had for quite some time. Firstly I really enjoyed my stay at the hotel but there were a few small niggles. The bath stopper stuck in the bath and we couldn't let the water out which made it impossible to have a shower in the morning. ! When paying over £100 for a room I expect a modern flat screen tv which we didn't have. The reception on the dab radio wasn't good either. Biggest problem was that my partner was allergic to feather duvets although we hadn't informed the hotel of this. When we requested a replacement we only received a large single which wasn't sufficient to keep us warm all night .... slightly spoiling the experience of this otherwise lovely hotel.

The general atmosphere was lovely; it is the kind of place I like to stay when in the countryside. I enjoyed the art throughout the hotel. The staff are impeccable.

Warm welcome, efficient ,unpretentious service, good breakfast, genuine single rooms-this is rare and I really appreciate it My online booking said vat was included but it was added again to the total. Your house wines aren't great -they have sulphides in them which many people find hard to digest

Easy to get to from the train station as it was within walking distance. The fact that I was put in 'the mews' rather than the hotel and the cost of the evening meal - it was far too expensive and the choice was minimal.

An excellent hotel with good food, design, helpful and friendly staff. In the town centre but with the South Downs and the Southdown Way nearby. We would certainly stay again.

friendly receptionist, lovely breakfast (disapointing limited evening menu choice), comfortable room although as someone who stays on average 4 nights a week in hotels on business for the price i would have thought the housekeeping would have been of a much higher standard i.e regular clean/vacum and replacing toiletries each day. see above

Had a good stay at Pelham House, slept well. Breakfast was very good. Although for such a fantastic dining room, the dirty and stained chairs was a let down. Would stay again.

Very friendly staff, lovely rooms, clean, great bed, good restaurant on site, but the pheasant wasn't great! Two criticisms (although small), we booked in as a couple with a baby, but then put on the top floor - up a narrow, steep staircase which was a bit precarious with a wriggly baby in your arms - the hotel saying that it was to provide more room for the cot, although during previous stays I've had a first floor room which was perfectly roomy enough (the hotel definitely wasn't full). Secondly there was a £6 charge for parking on site.

We enjoyed every moment of our stay at Pelham House. Without exception the staff are kind, friendly and always have a smile for you.Very comfortable bedroom and the quality of food and service at breakfast was superb. The hotel has a lovely ambience and is quiet despite being in the heart of the town. Excellent.

The staff were friendly and welcoming and nothing seemed to be too much trouble. Excellent service. We only ate breakfasts at the hotel and these were very good with a wide choice of options. The public rooms were nice, and furnished with good taste. We had a standard twin bedded room which was clean and well furnished. Overall we had a very good stay and would recommend it to our friends. Our only criticism is that the sloping ceiling in our bedroom made access a little uncomfortable at times. There was only a shower over the bath and you had to sit down to use it. As the part of the building dates back to the sixteenth century it is not suitable for people with disabilities as there are a lot of stairs and no lift These points would not stop us from using the hotel again

We have stayed at this hotel 3 years ago and little has changed, parking on site is restricted and it now charges for parking at £6+per night a niggling addition to the cost of staying there. On our first visit we had a standard double room which was very small, just enough room to get around the bed, very small closet and a cubicle bathroom. Fortunately on this occasion we were upgraded to a slightly larger room more in keeping with hotels we've stayed in elsewhere. On a positive the staff are very helpful and accommodating, Although we did not have dinner at the hotel the breakfasts we had were excellent.

Situation ideal, room fine, breakfast also fine. Parking was a problem. The station car park was full but waited for people to leave however paying for pay and display ticket was a problem as a ticket for next day was needed, the Help-line could'nt help which was very surprising. To try and park in the streets after 6.00pm was also difficult.
