Situation of the hotel is excellent: central yet quiet. Clean rooms & helpful staff. We were misinformed about the parking rules in the street and received a ticket. The manager personally apologized for this mistake and reimbursed us for the incurred fine. Our room under the slanted roof was on the small side for a double. The wing that we stayed in had lost some of the charm of the old building after the redecorations.

The staff were very helpful and the food is good. Best to eat rather than sleep here. The parking situation- lack of- is not made clear enough at the point of booking. Having to find parking elsewhere does not make one feel very welcome. We had room 11 which was spacious and had a nice outlook over the garden. However, next door's bathroom is inside the room behind paper thin partition so you hear everything. The architect should be shot. There are only thin blinds as well so don't stay here if you want a lazy lie-in. It's not a cheap weekend here and we would not go back. They have lots of functions downstairs which adds to lack of sleep. The owners need to decide what they are: function facility or hotel- at present the latter is questionable. Dissapointing for the price.

The staff were really friendly and approachable. We were upgraded because of birthday. The room was very plush, chocolates on the pillows, dressing gowns, fruit basket. The breakfast select menu was varied.

We stayed as a party preparing for our son's wedding. I booked 4 double rooms plus one single for our son on the eve on his wedding. All rooms were lovely and very comfortable. STaff were friendly and attentive and the breakfasts were excellent. I would stay again and enjoy more of Lewes itself next time. I would recommend it to anyone. Nothing really perhaps consider including parking for guests who stay more than one night.

Pelham House will exceed your expectations. The ambience, the design, the amenities in the room and the gourmet breakfast in particular. The menus in both the lounge bar and the restaurant are excellent with fresh and very well prepared food with all the extra touches. The staff are friendly and professional. I loved my three day stay !

Good hearty breakfast.Comfortable room. Pelham house looks lovely on the internet so we were somewhat disappointed to be shown our room in a converted garage block across the car park. Ok our room was a standard room however the hotel should make it clear in its advertising that guests in standard rooms will be accommodated in a rather characterless annexe. Car parking is limited and appears to favour guests staying for dinner. We were turfed out of the car park and parked at the station. Overall a rather pretentious establishment.

Lovely hotel in the very charming historic town of Lewes. Pleasant staff were welcoming and helpful . Quaint room in the eaves of the main hotel building. Breakfast was one of the nicest and freshest I have had for quite some time. Firstly I really enjoyed my stay at the hotel but there were a few small niggles. The bath stopper stuck in the bath and we couldn't let the water out which made it impossible to have a shower in the morning. ! When paying over £100 for a room I expect a modern flat screen tv which we didn't have. The reception on the dab radio wasn't good either. Biggest problem was that my partner was allergic to feather duvets although we hadn't informed the hotel of this. When we requested a replacement we only received a large single which wasn't sufficient to keep us warm all night .... slightly spoiling the experience of this otherwise lovely hotel.

Warm welcome, efficient ,unpretentious service, good breakfast, genuine single rooms-this is rare and I really appreciate it My online booking said vat was included but it was added again to the total. Your house wines aren't great -they have sulphides in them which many people find hard to digest

Had a good stay at Pelham House, slept well. Breakfast was very good. Although for such a fantastic dining room, the dirty and stained chairs was a let down. Would stay again.

Very friendly staff, lovely rooms, clean, great bed, good restaurant on site, but the pheasant wasn't great! Two criticisms (although small), we booked in as a couple with a baby, but then put on the top floor - up a narrow, steep staircase which was a bit precarious with a wriggly baby in your arms - the hotel saying that it was to provide more room for the cot, although during previous stays I've had a first floor room which was perfectly roomy enough (the hotel definitely wasn't full). Secondly there was a £6 charge for parking on site.

We enjoyed every moment of our stay at Pelham House. Without exception the staff are kind, friendly and always have a smile for you.Very comfortable bedroom and the quality of food and service at breakfast was superb. The hotel has a lovely ambience and is quiet despite being in the heart of the town. Excellent.

The staff were friendly and welcoming and nothing seemed to be too much trouble. Excellent service. We only ate breakfasts at the hotel and these were very good with a wide choice of options. The public rooms were nice, and furnished with good taste. We had a standard twin bedded room which was clean and well furnished. Overall we had a very good stay and would recommend it to our friends. Our only criticism is that the sloping ceiling in our bedroom made access a little uncomfortable at times. There was only a shower over the bath and you had to sit down to use it. As the part of the building dates back to the sixteenth century it is not suitable for people with disabilities as there are a lot of stairs and no lift These points would not stop us from using the hotel again

We have stayed at this hotel 3 years ago and little has changed, parking on site is restricted and it now charges for parking at £6+per night a niggling addition to the cost of staying there. On our first visit we had a standard double room which was very small, just enough room to get around the bed, very small closet and a cubicle bathroom. Fortunately on this occasion we were upgraded to a slightly larger room more in keeping with hotels we've stayed in elsewhere. On a positive the staff are very helpful and accommodating, Although we did not have dinner at the hotel the breakfasts we had were excellent.
