friendly receptionist, lovely breakfast (disapointing limited evening menu choice), comfortable room although as someone who stays on average 4 nights a week in hotels on business for the price i would have thought the housekeeping would have been of a much higher standard i.e regular clean/vacum and replacing toiletries each day. see above

Had a good stay at Pelham House, slept well. Breakfast was very good. Although for such a fantastic dining room, the dirty and stained chairs was a let down. Would stay again.

Very friendly staff, lovely rooms, clean, great bed, good restaurant on site, but the pheasant wasn't great! Two criticisms (although small), we booked in as a couple with a baby, but then put on the top floor - up a narrow, steep staircase which was a bit precarious with a wriggly baby in your arms - the hotel saying that it was to provide more room for the cot, although during previous stays I've had a first floor room which was perfectly roomy enough (the hotel definitely wasn't full). Secondly there was a £6 charge for parking on site.

The staff were friendly and the breakfast good. The room was in an annex not in the main house and was not particularly good.

We enjoyed every moment of our stay at Pelham House. Without exception the staff are kind, friendly and always have a smile for you.Very comfortable bedroom and the quality of food and service at breakfast was superb. The hotel has a lovely ambience and is quiet despite being in the heart of the town. Excellent.

The staff were friendly and welcoming and nothing seemed to be too much trouble. Excellent service. We only ate breakfasts at the hotel and these were very good with a wide choice of options. The public rooms were nice, and furnished with good taste. We had a standard twin bedded room which was clean and well furnished. Overall we had a very good stay and would recommend it to our friends. Our only criticism is that the sloping ceiling in our bedroom made access a little uncomfortable at times. There was only a shower over the bath and you had to sit down to use it. As the part of the building dates back to the sixteenth century it is not suitable for people with disabilities as there are a lot of stairs and no lift These points would not stop us from using the hotel again

We have stayed at this hotel 3 years ago and little has changed, parking on site is restricted and it now charges for parking at £6+per night a niggling addition to the cost of staying there. On our first visit we had a standard double room which was very small, just enough room to get around the bed, very small closet and a cubicle bathroom. Fortunately on this occasion we were upgraded to a slightly larger room more in keeping with hotels we've stayed in elsewhere. On a positive the staff are very helpful and accommodating, Although we did not have dinner at the hotel the breakfasts we had were excellent.

Situation ideal, room fine, breakfast also fine. Parking was a problem. The station car park was full but waited for people to leave however paying for pay and display ticket was a problem as a ticket for next day was needed, the Help-line could'nt help which was very surprising. To try and park in the streets after 6.00pm was also difficult.

The excellent service. Attentive staff. Room quality and amazing breakfast. Really wanted to stay longer. Highly recommend. Being woken early by a very very loud noise as boilers kicked in, and this lasted too long.

Loved the stripped back elegance (reminded us of Hotel Du Vin -Which is high praise!) Staff seemed professional and unhurried. There were many events (parties, weddings) going on yet it never intruded on us feeling cared for. Would definitely recommend. Food and winter cocktails were superb. I was offered a parking space but at no time was a £6.00 daily fee mentioned which was a bit off but probably just an oversight. Small point would be better to hide the wires for the radio, telly etc behind a panel as this is the view from the bed (Room 14)

A friendly and comfortable country house type hotel with an excellent menu. Its position in the centre of Lewes, the county town of East Sussex, with its variety of small shops and historic byways makes Pelham House an attractive venue for short breaks and week-ends. Our well furnished bedroom on the top floor provided views over the garden and the town, but its access was via a steepish staircase. If you are not good on stairs go for the rooms in the stable block. Parking at the hotel is limited and a charge is made if you with to retain a space for the duration of your stay. There is some restricted street parking close to the hotel which may not always be available.

Beautiful place to stay with lovely food. Rooms comfy. Staff friendly. Fantastic mix of traditional and modern features. Only problem is the noise of the heating system as it is on old town house. Slightly disturbs your sleep but only as I'm a light sleeper. Parking a bit tricky but staff saved us a space and were very helpful.

Excellent staff, good accomodation and a hearty breakfast. The bed was comfortable but the room had no air flow so a little muggy at times. We enjoyed staying there and will use this hotel again.
