Our second visit to this hotel and we were not disappointed. An excellent deal for a comfortable room with full breakfast included. We will visit again.
Quiet, brilliant staff and lovely interior to the building. Comfy room and good food.
The view from the room was beautiful
Noise from the heating system and pipes.
I stayed here one year so I knew what to expect. Staff pleasant and helpful and food quality good.
If you wish to park at the hotel then a charge of £6 per day is made. I phoned and reserved a place for my two night stay.No problem on arrival the first day. When I returned on the second day I was told they had no record of my booking for the second night, why would I only book for only one night? Eventually this did get resolved but somewhat of an irritation at the time. Access to my bedroom was via a very narrow staircase (there is no lift) which could prove difficult for some people especially if they have heavy luggage.
The whole hotel was beautifully decorated & our room was great. Staff were friendly & breakfast delicious!
There weren't any car park spaced available and finding parking in Lewes was a nightmare - after arriving & dropping our luggage off at around 9pm we then struggled for almost an hour to find suitable parking - spoiling what could've been a relaxing evening.
They readily agreed with our reaction to the room and reimbursed us without hesitation
The annex room we were offered was little better than a garden shed - absolutely shameful!
Good Food , Friendly Staff, Clean Premises,
? Double Bed Uncomfortable Which Was Two Singles Pushed Together Causing Ridge In Centre, Windows Did Not Shut Securely, Handles Very Loose, & Security Locks Unattached, Car Parking Cost At £6.50 Per Night, Outsiders Using The Bar & Resturant Allowed To Park Anywhere For Free, Blocking In Paying Customers
This hotel is housed in a beautiful old building in the centre of Lewes. The room was comfortable with lovely views and breakfast excellent with great service throughout the hotel.
The bathroom needed some up-grading and the stairs were very small and steep.
For a superior room it was very small, in fact it looked smaller than the standard room . Only room for one bedside cabinet. No proper dressing table as one might expect in this type of room and no drawers any where. We kept bumping into each other trying to get to the wardrobe and it was a squeeze getting down the far side of the bed.
The beds were comfortable and the breakfast was delicious.
It could be made clearer that you would have to call and reserve parking. Otherwise on-street parking is free in the evenings until 9am.
Breakfast was good, free WI Fi also very helpful
One of the bedroom windows (room 22) wouldn't close fully, bedroom cold at night, no spare sheets in wardrobe, radiators off at night too
Warm cosy comfortable, friendly. Liked the atmosphere.
Staff were friendly and the hotel is beautiful in an excellent location. The breakfast was just superb, a great way the set up the day.
No TV in the bar area and not many channels on the TV's in the rooms.
Friendly staff, convenient location with parking (make sure you book a space). Good breakfast too.
Bathroom quite basic but satisfactory.
Poor car parking provision. Cold rooms in winter frost
Very cheerful,helpful staff. Well-cooked,varied breakfast
Attentive helpful staff, great location, nice bathroom.
Breakfast on Sunday really disappointing. Black pudding uncooked, bacon really unpleasant, we both left it, scrambled egg bore no relation to an egg. Floor hadn't been swept was covered in food and crumbs.
Friendly staff, beautiful building, great facilities, delicious food, beautiful location, clean, cosy.
Too noisy at night. I could hear the couple talking in the next room like the walls were made of ply wood. And club music was playing in a near by bar until 1am (Saturday night). Fine if you're out late too but not if you booked the weekend away specifically to de-stress. Everything else was great but for this reason sadly I won't be going again :(
Location and room, spacious with high ceilings. Excellent shower.
Needed more shelf space in bathroom.
the local art exhibition (I bought a painting)
Not being able to park and having to get up before 8am on Saturday to buy a ticket! Very noisy people in the corridors at 4am - shouting and banging!
The setting is beautiful, with a well tended garden and interesting, changing displays of original art works everywhere. A historic get-away just an hour away from London. The town of Lewes has many wonderful attractions and is very beautifully preserved.
The horrendous noise coming from the function room next door to my bedroom until gone 1am. Why put guests in a room next door to a function that over runs its time into the early hours of the morning? Careless, stupid and unthinking planning on the part of the hotel management staff.
Cleanliness Some staff very friendly
Lack of parking unless booked in advance Some staff quite unfriendly A bit over-priced Bed Mattress quite uncomfortable
We loved the room and all the interesting art. Breakfast was delicious!
The cuisine, the bar, the room, the breakfast.
