Dating back to the 16th century, this former traveler's inn rests in the heart of the picturesque and historic Lewes. The White Hart Hotel offers modern facilities, and has an old-world charm.

My boyfriend and I stayed at Pelham house friday 10th October for a birthday celebration. The customer service was excellent from the moment we walked through the door. Beautiful and spotless room (room 6). With the rain pouring down outside we had no reason to leave the hotel.. So spent our night drinking excellent cocktails and eating tasty food! Would definitely recommend for any occasion! Thanks Pelham house for a beautiful stay :)
Central but quiet location, with comfortable beds, friendly staff and a good atmosphere. A delightful building with history and character plus the inevitable creaky floorboard here & there. We've stayed elsewhere In Lewes and this is the best of the bunch & reasonable enough if you book far enough ahead - otherwise it's pricey.
Twins beds are a bit narrow; ensuite shower room tiny for an Executive room. Nb charge of 6.50 per day for car parking on site; on-street parking outside at 2gbp per hour - park further away in town car-parks for better rates.
My room was cold despite complaining several times.
The garden, grounds and view from our room. On-site parking. Friendly staff and welcome. Amenities in the room and en-suite bath. Ample selection of breakfast offerings.
The entrance hallway and stairs are uncarpeted with bare wood floors, which conveys an initial, rather austere character to the hotel.
Very close to the town Staff very helpful Lovely building
Room on second floor, winding staircase and no lift Breakfast beautifully presented but not much taste
Very well decorated Modern bathroom Very comfortable bed Excellent breakfast
Very little parking available. Even though i requested a parking space upon booking there was no where onsite to park. Floor lamp not working Bedroom Heater not working Being interrupted by house keeping at 7pm for unknown reason.
Location was perfect, thank goodness we got a car park though!
Stairs to second floor were ridiculous!
Breakfast staff very friendly and attentative.
Shower had a life of its own. Sometimes hot, sometimes cold and difficult to completely turn off. For the price of the accomodation the room and bathroom could be better. Television had such poor reception to be unviewable. The windows in poor condition. Avoid room 16.
It's a beautiful old home, with lovely gardens, in a wonderful old town and the staff was friendly, welcoming, and happy to share information about the house and the town of Lewes.
The staff were superbly helpful and friendly, and the food was excellent.
The second steep 23 stair climb to our room, although it was worth it once we got there. Would be difficult with suitcases, though, or for anyone not fit!
The hotel was in need of refurbishment and the house keeping was very poor.
This is primarily a venue for corporate events and weddings. On 3 of the 6 days I spent at Pelham House there was no escape from noise and drunken/very merry people. Not recommended.
The location by the castle was good. The main part of the house was aesthetically pleasing. There was a good choice of cooked breakfasts.
The fact we were put in the stable building. There was no indication this would happen on booking. I would expect to stay in the main part of the house for the price tag. The stables were next to the car park and bins, so lots of noise through the night. There was also an incident with a random member of staff trying to enter the room at 5pm. This seemed odd. In general it just wasn't as good as we thought it would be.
the building ,the location attentiveness of the staff, the ambience of the gallery and bar the lovely grounds, large for the location in the centre of town
the attentiveness of some staff but failure to follow through, silly little things but annoying even so
The staff are ready to acknowledge, a problem and sort it. I was not happy to be in a box in the car park,I complained and my second night found me in a lovely room in the house
I booked Pelham after seeing it on line.....loved the look of the house.i was a little put out to find myself out in the courtyard.....it was comfortable, but not what I had wanted. I complained and was able to enjoy the benefits of Pelham house, which is beautiful.
Staff were friendly and could not do enough for us, the breakfast was lovely and all the produce was locally sourced and fresh, would recommend.
nothing to dislike
Good staff,good food and comfortable
Noisy room, no lift and difficult stairs to negotiate
the breakfast especially in the garden.
the location of the room which is in the attic
Central location, lovely garden and excellent breakfast choice
Too much noise from working white van men in annex rooms. You must book limited parking and pay for this
Garden was beautiful and the food was good. Service was very friendly.
The room was a bit small and not much of a view.
Location reception staff
Breakfast the noisiest dining room I have experienced.young waitress less than jovial had to ask for TOASTED toast no marmalade when brought was plonked on the table.Just ok for the price
Location is great and exterior of building very charming. Could have great potential!
The bedrooms are cheaply decorated, hard beds, poor fittings, bathroom very poor, dated and of very low quality. Housekeeping is also very poor, hair on carpets, beds, mould in bathrooms etc Communal areas could be better with some attention. Breakfast was very good though. All of this would be palatable if a reasonable room rate was applied, but charging 220 per night with rooms of this quality is unaaceptable. It's a budget hotel trying to pretend it's a boutique of sorts.
Kindness of personnel (thanks to Greg at the reception!). Great rooms! The breakfast was outstanding!
gardens and breakfast
small bedroom dark and very small shower room should have been offered a bath. If we return would like a more modern bedroom.
Really nice hotel and friendly staff. Great breakfast and view from room
The green exit sign above door inside room made it difficult to sleep
