From the welcome by the staff when we arrived to the moment of our departure we could not fault it. We felt that a great deal of effort over the years had gone into making visitors feel very special.

Everything (and I w'd underline that - except that I can't find the underline key on this site) had been thought of: from the 'appointments' in the room, to the newspapers and caramels in the hall and the offer of leaflets of guided walks (sadly, we had little time to pursue those). Much enjoyed the garden: somebody does a good job there. (Had to laugh abt. The 'deep water' sign: do visitors really like to leap into the pond?) I regret I have not been able to find out the name of the apple which I took from the bowl in the hall. (Was it in fact the same as apples I saw on a tree in the village?) Just what you expect in a proper apple: crisp, scented, juicy, depth of flavour . . . . If I c'd grow those here, it w'd be great.

On managerial advice, we accepted a more suitable room to meet personal needs. From the first welcome to final farewell, we felt a strong personal touch from highly efficient staff. Dinner was memorable and we regretted that our itinerary did not permit a longer stay. Nothing to criticize!

Lovely place. I liked the view from our room in the annex. Some beautiful trees in the garden and surrounding area. The food was very good. Really nice atmosphere generally and very peaceful. We took the recommended ridge top 'walk of the day' and thoroughly enjoyed it.

For our 48th Wedding Anniversary it was the perfect place. The hotel is in a delightful, quiet place with the hotel offering good service.comfort, and excellent cuisine from very pleasant staff. It also has pleasant gardens, access to the most gorgeous countryside, with good walks. The advice offered for visits took us on roads that were hardly wide enough to drive the car but the end place attained was worth it. The hotel and staff created exactly the right conditions for what we anticipated and this is a considerable skill for which we are grateful. We will hopefully return in the not too distant future. I hope these two points are regarded as a constructive comment as opposed to finding things we didn't like. because there wasn't anything we didn't like." I would have liked a break down on my final bill of the cost of drinks as opposed to a " lump sum " for a day. Your current procedure seems to require the individual / couple to keep a tally ( which would spoil the break ) but without doing this there is no way of verification unless specific questions are asked when the bill is provided, and the minute that happens it can create an atmosphere of mistrust. I wouldn't want that to happen. Perhaps a check on the information at the top of provided walks would be useful. We undertook one locally that went round the Blwch which we undertook because it was said to be easy walking and my wife has had a comparatively recent hip replacement operation. The other advice on the sheet was, I think, words to the effect that " whatever the weather no boots were necessary.". From the moment we left the road after climbing for 1.5 miles the downhill track was very muddy and stoney and when we got back to the point where you turn off by the house that was destroyed by a crashing plane during the war, the walk was more like a wet and extremely muddy ski slope as we descended into the conifer woods. We both enjoyed the walk as it took us round some beautiful countryside bu we both thought the advice needed changing. I will say no more because we really enjoyed our stay and I don't want to sound like a miserable whinger. A small but important point. It is excellent that the hotel provides local walks but

The staff were professional, courteous and friendly. They could not have been more helpful. Didn't like the toiletry range and it was a bit difficult to pump out the products at the angle they were placed in. Would have liked the option of a simple bar meal for the smaller appetite alongside the gastro dinner. Was great to have the dinner on one of the nights but we wanted something plain and simple on the second night and we had no options to choose from.

Wonderful food, excellent service, beautiful location We paid extra for a room with a patio. What we were not told, was that this was not in the main hotel but completely separate in an adjacent building which had been converted into a number of bedrooms. To access our room we needed to negotiate a number of fairly steep steps. For anyone with a disability, particularly the very elderly this would have proved very difficult. Luckily the weather was dry otherwise these could have proved slippery. Why were we not advised this at the time of booking? The patio had a small table with two wrought iron chairs, these had seen better days, were dirty as well as rusty in places. Totally unusable and uncomfortable without a cushion which was not provided. The small garden adjoining our room also needed attention.

A charming, well appointed, small stone country house set amongst stunning countryside. The ideal place to relax - with very attentive staff, good food at a sensible price, peace and tranquility, even when the hotel is fully occupied. There is a small bar that is open whenever you may want a drink and the prices are far lower than many hotels, plus afternoon teas that can be served in the hotel or terraces. My wife was particularly pleased with the in-room spa treatment, which was not only available at a time that suited her, but a third of the price that similar treatments would cost in the South East of England The room was comfortable and well appointed, with a very modern bathroom. Dogs are made welcome, but the layout of the building, and 'house rules' ensures that they are unobtrusive for other guests.

Location and scenery charm We were disappointed over the fact that our first night sleep was severely disrupted due to the fact that there was a big dip in the middle of our bed. On reporting this in the morning, the staff were very concerned and investigated what was a brand new bed. On examination it was found to be missing 2 supporting legs in the centre. This was rectified and the second night was very comfortable. We are surprised that this was missed in the assembly of such an important item.
