Plenty of character and beautiful gardens. Relaxed atmosphere and excellent breakfast.
We were unable to use the restaurant because of a wedding . However we were not told about this beforehand and may not have booked if we had known
very comfortable bed and also nice bedding, stayed in the old coach house next to house with lovely gardens to wander round.quiet and relaxing time.
Food was superb. The room was charming and comfortable.
Evening meal and wines were expensive and they were indeed excellent, but if you did not want to spend a lot of money there was no cheaper option.
Attention to detail, courteous and friendly staff who went out of their way to greet us and explain procedures. Meals were celebratory. We wish them well in their new business and we will repauy a retuurn visit.
The hotel has real character but is need of modernising. We met the new owners who intend to update it. Our room was lovely, spacious with a comfy bed . The bathroom was fine, a little old fashioned, needed updating, no shelves or space around the sink. We were however locked out at night. We returned at 12.15am after a Wedding. We left our key at reception earlier and hadn't been told the hotel would be locked. After 15mins of knocking and soaking wet, a resident heard us and opened the door. We then hunted for our room key which we found in the kitchen..... Very odd.
Beds and rooms comfortable and clean. Staff were friendly and courteous.
Staff at breakfast were overworked and under pressure in the mornings. Evening dinner staff young and inexperienced. Renovations taking place during our stay. There is a new owner coming to grips with the place and there is a lot of work needed to bring the place up to standard. At the moment, definitely not worth €150 per night for B&B.
The staff were first class, nothing was to much trouble for them from our arrival to leaving. The hotel was homely.
Bathroom in room 10 could be updated. The scaffolding was a bit off putting, but we do realise work has to be done and the gardens a tidy round.
The food The Staff
Small details like curtain hangers not fixed. Car Park
lovely ambience. a beautiful elegant place in a peaceful haven.
Friendly staff, lovely food, very peaceful and relaxing.
Excellent location. Excellent choice for breakfast. Very friendly polite staff making you feel very welcome. Hotel was of a high standard but very homely.
Superb view. Excellent food. Generally hotel good, staff helpful (when around). Quiet location, very restful.
Poor parking facilities - vegetation needs tidying up. Access to staff not easy during daytime. Some maintenance required on furniture/windows, neither working properly.
Warm welcome. Excellent food. Super service. Relaxing garden just a short walk from beach and cliff walks. A wonderful place for a getaway weekend.
The setting is spectacular - so close to the Coastal Path, an ancient church, and the tiny train station. The manor house is lovely and comfortable, and the staff is gracious and helpful. And the food was wonderful!
The very friendly staff and the high standard of the food
Good breakfast, huge bed, refined atmosphere, the views and location
Nowhere to put washbags etc in bathroom. Evening meal slightly pricey - my wife only had 2 courses + coffee but we were charged the full 3 course rate.
The owners and staff were all very friendly, helpful and efficient - they did everything possible to make our stay as comfortable and pleasant as possible. All meals (we had two breakfasts and two dinners) were absolutely excellent - far more to eat than we could manage.
There was nothing that we didn't like - but absence of wifi was a little frustrating
It was a magical place and very romantic.
Great atmosphere, lovely room with view towards Caldey Island. Food was fantastic, staff very friendly,
Staff very helpful
i thought it was excellent staff where very friendly found very relaxing cant wait to return near future food outstanding
everything the hotel is fantastic full of character in a beautiful setting we had a special anniversary it was a perfect weekend we are planning to return in the summer
The staff were friendly and helpful.
The location was fair. Out of the way, high up with a ok view
Not worth £148 for one night in there larger rooms.
The quirkiness of the hotel, alongside the happiness of it's staff :-)
The smell of food coming upstairs from the kitchen below :-( No doubt if we'd been staying in a front facing room it would have made it more bearable though!! The cost of the evening meals made the stay rather expensive! Perhaps the option of less courses could be introduced to overcome that issue?
