Nice location and lovely manor
Staff were struggling, poor service at dinner and breakfast, we went to get our breakfast and returned to find our table was cleared! We had to keep asking for our coffee, cutlery, toast to be returned etc with little apology! The bedroom was tired and felt it needed modernising. We went to the health suite and got told off for using the Jacuzzi as it hadn’t been tested (how were we to know), there was no signage advising this. The restuart bill of £130 seemed high considering the service and quality of food.
Lovely swimming pool.
Cramped changing rooms. Sauna and gym miles away from pool and changing rooms - you had to walk through a freezing cold corridor. Gym not open at same time as pool. Overpriced food.
The common areas were ok and the bar staff are friendly.
The room desperately needed updating. It was old and dank and the bathroom was so so dated. The shower was either BOILING HOT or cold - nothing in between. It was just not good value for money - they need to renovate the rooms pronto.
Atmosphere was generally relaxed and friendly. Service was prompt and efficient.
Bedroom and especially bathroom was too hot! Breakfast wasn't quite as good as on previous visits
The location and surrounding
The spa was very poor and the layout of it was not appropriate the pool and the hot tub were in a different location to the steam/sauna and need to go to a lower level through cold tunnel. The interior of the hotel was very dated.
Fantastic breakfast, gorgeous dining room. Facilities on the ground floor, were delightful and luxurious. Beautifully decorated in the Shakespeare bar and the dining room. Didn't take advantage of the spa, which I regret now.
Room itself was a bit tired, window sills need attention, cracked tiles in bathroom, for the tired state of the room in my opinion, it was over priced. Toiletries were a bit sparse ! Bar drinks were on the steep side too.
The room was big and staff helpful The pool was very pleasant the bath was nice and deep The space was comfy The open fire and hall were pleasant The peacocks were a great distraction
Very uncomfy beds and I got cold in the night if the window was open Too hot if it was shut The bathroom was a bit shabby as were the pool showers The breakfast was poor- only buffet
The grounds were nice, downstairs of hotel was lovely & traditional. The cream tea was absolutely lovely.
The area between the swimming pool & sauna/steam room was not very nice, it was cold & could definitely do with some refurbishment.
When notifying the receptionist that our room was very noisy all night, her response was ''That's because your rooms where by the swimming pool generator'' That was it, not even an apology, let alone a discount for an awful nights sleep.
such a welcoming comfortable hotel.friendly and helpful staff.
Kings head restaraunt ivenhoe superb
Breakfast very average
We liked every thing about Pendley Manor, we loved how it has kept its original features. The food was excellent plenty of choice, rooms where a good size, our whole visits was excellent. We will come back again.
Lovely old building in a quiet peaceful location. Very friendly staff and a nice steam room.
Bed a bit uncomfortable and general hotel decor seems in need of an upgrade, getting a bit tired.
old part of hotel was very shabby
Blocked sink no water in room to drink
All staff were very helpful
Suite located in old part of building, access through side staircase with dirty worn out carpets. Entire section of hotel smelt of mildew! Furniture and fixtures all old and worn out. No place for towels in bathroom. Lack of bathroom products, no body lotion, only one small round soap for both bath and sink. Old bulky TVs in both bedroom and seating area. TV almost fell out of cupboard in bedroom when I opened the door to see it. At breakfast, upon entering I asked if I could sit anywhere and was shown to a tiny round table in a corner next to main entrance - where hotel guests coming and going could almost touch the table. This despite breakfast being held in the Ballroom with plenty of tables and I was the first guest to enter. All single guests after me were told to sit anywhere they liked!!! Upon complaining I had almost finished breakfast before the Supervisor asked if I would like to move!
Stunning Christmas decor, lovely atmosphere
Staff seemed a bit bored!
Loved the architecture and the room was airy and light . Room service was quick and food was decent
The shower at the sauna did not work and no proper shampoo at the ones near the pool.
I had trouble getting the room phone to work but that may well have been my fault as well as the phone itself. I thought that a complimentary bottle of water per day for one guest would have been a plus. Many hotels are doing that presently. The gym and weights were not so ample and incomplete in some weights.
Very friendly, polite and helpful staff. Beautiful location. Nice, cosy suite though decor shabby in corridors and carpets thread bare. Also, no door between rooms so if one person wants to sleep the other cannot watch second TV.
I was offered a better rate on arrival by a lovely receptionist. However, this was a mistake and management are refusing to honour it, despite the fact the offer is in writing. I am now fighting the bill which leaves a very bad after taste and could prevent me from returning.
buffet breakfast big room
Not a chain. Arrived late. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Got shown route to room, that was nice. Nice breakfast choice. First time in a four poster bed. Clean room albeit a little dated and knocked about a bit.
A little difficult to find in the dark and driveway not well lit. Took a while to balance the hot and cold mixture for the shower. Would benefit from a power shower.
Pleasant country manor house, with a few exceptions.
I stayed in one of the suites but thought the overall room was a bit outdated and could do with modernizing. The shower was almost impossible to use, the toilet seat was very loose and the towel rail fell of the wall when I removed a bath towel. As for the TV, I did not know you could still get CRT's? Perhaps it was a left over from when the manor was a country estate!
