Not being in the penkelie
The attitude of the lady as soon as she opened the door to great US. She knew we booked as a family and yet told us we had rooms on separate floors. Told my partner they would have to stay in the other room. I was appalled at her attitude. Demanding more money from us also keeping a dog and having that dog in the kitchen breakfast was cooked in. Finally her breakfast was disgusting bacon not cooked mushroom raw. Never going there again would not recommend.
Room very clean coffe and tea in room towels provided nice manager all ok
Pillows a bit hard and dressing table in front of the central heating
Friendly, welcoming, comfortable and delicious breakfast. Everything is just perfect. Thank you^^
Excellent value for money. Clean, comfortable, friendly with superb breakfast to start the day.
Food. Very clean
No wi-fi connection in the room
Lovely staff very clean great breakfast
Location - near the theatre
Single room was a bit small, up loads of stairs, but had everything you need.
The Hotel was warm clean and I felt welcome from the minute I was greeted at the door
This is not a complaint but a observation I found wi fi a bit of a problem to get onto but not a big deal as as only there for one night
Excellent value for money
Didn't know there was wifi
Lisa brill and Murphy lovely. Breakfast fantastic. Room was clean and comfortable, but was due an upgrade.
Wifi was no good in room 10 we had to go out onto landing for signal.
Everything! Lisa the person who ran the hotel was amazing very nice and very respectful would defiantly book at the hotel again.
Nothing i did not like
Cleanliness and freshly cooked breakfast.
Central location. Free parking. Comfy bed. Friendly staff. Lovely full english breakfast
The friendly welcome by the Landlady, who was very nice and who really takes care of the place. Spotless room. Hearty breakfasts. Thanks you. :-)
Not a thing.
Everything. Very welcoming. Clean and Tidy.
Friendly, welcoming owner. Very clean accommodation. I can recommend the delicious and hearty Full English Breakfast - the best I've had for ages! Close to the main shopping street. Fantastic fish and chip shop/restaurant a short walk away.
Everything about the place. Landlady went outside when she wanted a smoke !!! The place was clean and tidy. Decent sized room and good bathroom,(I did fall up the stair when I went to the loo in the middle of the night). Breakfast was fresh and served nicely on the plate, and I was asked more than once if I wanted more tea, coffee, and toast. Very, very nice landlady. Well done you. I will 100% be returning
Shower was controlled by taps and was either scalding hot or cold. I think some limescale remover would solve the problem, and as I said, the step in the bathroom got me.(That was more that I had failed to see the light pull in the doorway and went to the sink to turn the light on and forgot the step was there). Internet, which is important to me was sometimes very slow, but I never lost a link. Where is the sea?
The breakfast was the best we have had in any establishment.
extremely friendly welcome, nothing was too much trouble, the room was excellent, the bed was comfortable (although a little soft for my liking) the breakfast was superb, I would certainly recommend this hotel for comfort, location and fantastic value for money.
The Penkelie is comfortable and well-run, and we hope to stay there again. The staff were efficient and friendly. the breakfast was first-rate with plenty of choice. Very comfortable beds and quiet location though close to the front and Conference Centre.
The things we don't like have nothing to do with the guest house itself. They are in the nature of Southport being an old sea-side resort. Hence, parking is limited, and there are steep stairs to the upper floors.
Nothing to dislike
Good location and breakfast, friendly welcome, provided car parking permit so we did not have to pay for street parking outside. A right good quiet seaside guest house.
The room was nicely decorated and had excellent en-suite facilities. Lisa, the manager, was really friendly and the breakfast and cleaning of the room was first class. I will definitely look to stay here again on my next trip to Southport.
Great welcome, clean room, good breakfast, quick and friendly service
Parking a bit limited but not a big problem, otherwise hard to fault at the price
Excellent breakfast everywhere was spotlessly clean our room was spacious and warm and the shower in the ensuite was big.A really friendly place and extremely good value for money
