The hotel has beautiful views and is secluded away although not too far from local amenties. The room was spacious and clean. The bed was very comfortable. The general facilities were excellent as was the food. Staff were very courteous and keen to help. I stayed for 3 nights in October and would be happy to stay here again. Other than there was no lift, I have no negative points to make.

The staff were very friendly and helpfull, Alex was extremely helpfull nothing too much trouble for him. The food was good but would have been nice to have some good homecooking on menu besides the more restaurant style dishes. It was very warm in the room and had to have the windows wide open on a night but the bed was very comfortable. The room doors do seem to bang shut and even though it wasnt too busy it could be a problem when guests return to their rooms. When we arrived there was a wedding fayre taking place and it delayed the time we could eat, it seemed that took preference.

We had come from the South of England for a wedding the next day. The hotel was welcoming late at night and efficient at booking in and showing us our room.Breakfast was lovely and the young lady (working on her own) was delightful, despite being very busy.Food at the wedding reception was delicious, hot and well presented.Next day the breakfast was buffet style and equally as good but without the options of the previous day.

The hotel was beautifully situated with panoramic views and the public rooms were very attractive - a cosy bar with a log burner and a lovely restaurant with great views. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was excellent with lots of choice, not just the usual full English. Our double room was tiny and we had two large suitcases and two small ones. The hotel was pretty empty on this Sunday night in December and I think they could have gained a lot of brownie points by offering/providing an upgrade as they had a special offer for dinner, bed and breakfast on a Sunday night for only £10 more than we paid for bed and breakfast. It's a small thing for them but would have made a big impression on us, particularly given the size of the room. It has happened to us on other occasions when room occupancy was low and resulted in two very satisfied customers.

The hotel was good value as I managed to get B&B for about £52. The evening meal was the best value grub I have ever had in a hotel. The room was a bit cold and the windows could do with updating, but it served its purpose and wasgood value for money.

Executive bedroom was excellent, nicely decorated and good size. The location is excellent if you love the countryside-which we do. Breakfast was good. We stayed when there was an offer on so excellent value for money. Would definately stay again and have already recommended this hotel to friends and family. Perfect place to relax and get away. The only minor complaint that we had was the the rooms were cold, the radiators get turned off during the day and only get turned on at night which is fine during summer but we stayed in the middle of winter so I think it should be up to the guests whether it is on or off-luckily I packed jumpers. Other than that me and my boyfriend had a lovely time here.

“Overall it was exceptional value. All the staff were extremely friendly. The landlord cooked us a meal on Sunday evening when food was supposed to stop at 6pm. Breakfasts were excellent as were evening meals. The only slight downside is that being a pub it is rather noisy.” Robert, Sheffield |
