Good location and rooms excellent. Had a great nights sleep staying here and the food and drink in the bar itself was superb. Only 10 min walk from train station

very nice, modern rooms with bathroom and enough space for 2 persons in a good location...

if there were some minibar in the room, it would be just perfect without any "but"...

over looked by balconies from properties at the rear, perhaps some venitian blinds or similar would help.

We have stayed at Penny Street Bridge Hotel before and always comment on its cleanliness. The rooms are decorated to an excellent standard with comfy beds. Even though it was 73* outside the rooms were cool because of the high ceilings.

Straight outside onto the canal towpath with excellent pub. On the edge of the town centre. The public area's are gorgeous and the room was perfect. Very quiet at night, air con etc. We will definitely return.

My daughter was at Lancaster University, so your hotel was in a great location. I found the hotel and staff to be a great place to stay and eat.

When I booked, I was a little discouraged by the really long name ("Penny Street Bridge - a Thwaites Inn of Character"). What would I do if I needed to ask a stranger for directions? Surely the stranger would not have the patience to wait while I asked, "Excuse me, could you please tell me the way to Penny Street Bridge - a Thwaites Inn of Character?". Luckily, it's only Booking.com which addresses the hotel in such a formal manner. Locals call it "Penny Street Bridge", and it's named after the bridge where people had to pay a penny to enter the city. And despite "Thwaites" in the name, the good news is that you wouldn't know it was a chain hotel. I really liked the fact that they give you a small flak of fresh milk to make yourself a tea or a coffee.

The carpets in the corridors have seen better days and could do with replacing.

The accommodation was a short walk from the train station and very central to bars and restaurants. The food served in the hotel bar was also nice.

Polite staff who perhaps could have done with some more management support Lovely courtyard and lounge decor Air-con quiet and effective Comfortable bed with plug sockets for phones on bedside tables Characterful building Great location near centre but not noisy, on right side for university visit Good breakfast menu

Eggs poached with spinach on a muffin - the spinach should be cooked or wilted, not raw An omelette arrived full of little black bits which was not appetising, which we were informed was probably the enamel of the pan rather than pepper, actually even less appetising a reason for it. Only given one door card between two, you need one each especially to go through the residents' door from the public area Windows needed net curtains of some kind as there was little privacy unless curtains closed Asked if there was a space for car on email, this was confirmed but not specified how much it would be (£5 per day) or where it was before I arrived. Charged twice for breakfast Couldn't get tv off radio onto tv

Rooms were good and very quiet despite being fronted by the main road

We were attending a Lancaster Uni open day and the breakfast service was not adapted to the significant number of guests staying and wanting breakfast that morning = long wait
