For those that like them ... horse brasses in the breakfast room.
The staff were friendly and the breakfast was good.
The Wifi didn't work, they were having problems. There was blood stains on the sheet of the bed.
good location and no trouble parking, walking distance from party we were attending. good breakfast and friendly staff.
the en-suite was poor, extractor fan didn't work, poor flush on toilet and seat was loose, the bin hadn,t been emptied, the decor was dated was dusty. also the cost of the stay was a bit expensive.
Location,ease of parking.
Room was too hot ,poor ventilation, bathroom needed a make over.
Decoration and authentic features throughout
The size of the room was very good value for money.
There is no Wi-Fi available and the phone signal on certain networks is virtually non existent. Not great if your trying to complete some work.
Friendly, reasonable price, 4 poster bed.
Excellent location, easy parking
Slightly dated decor in bedrooms
Second time staying here, this time with a friend from the US. We had an excellent and comfortable stay.
Very homely & welcoming, with some real character - particularly the bedrooms and the dining room. Also located on a nice quiet road. And very good value for money!
Breakfast was very nice if you wanted the full English. Expensive for cereal and a glass of juice! Room was clean, but basic Complimentary tea and coffee
Room very hot and very small. Up 3 flights of stairs. No lift, no offer of help with our cases (not that we wanted help, but it would have been nice to have had the offer). Bathroom and shower ridiculously small given that we booked a family room. No remote for TV, no working digibox. Very dated. Probably won't stay there again.
Room simple and comfortable. Parking good. Staff friendly and helpful
Room is fine and the breakfast was awesome. In terms of the full English breakfast, the chef was really good at cooking it. Also, staffs there were really nice and warm heart, they helped me for anything I needed.
the price was a little bit high in Cardiff, due to the summer time and graduation ceremony I guessed.
No wifi on top floor, standards of cleanliness, decor, overall image
Interesting building. We were made very welcome.
A bit dated.
friendly and helpful staff location close to city centre ( just walk through Bute Park to castle)
The room was boiling hot with only a really small window which did nothing at all and was covered in condensation. There really needed to be a fan in the room with such a small window. The room was shabby and very small. Probably the worst night's sleep we've had in a very long time.
Family run guest house - very friendly welcome and hospitable. Did everything to make our stay enjoyable. Great value and terrific bacon at breakfast! Could not wish for better hosts - can recommend Penrhys Hotel to all.
We stayed on one of the hottest days in summer in a south facing bedroom. Very hot and humid - a fan would have been nice in the room. Wifi connection poor at best, in the top floor room.
very friendly staff
Internet terrible, breakfast was very disappointing, and had to go and get cash to pay as did not take cards
the staff were very helpful and friendly, our family room was adequate and clean, its a shame the bar wasn't an option but there are plenty of other bars and restaurant's within walking distance .. The Cricketers was excellent.
parking on Cathedral Rd is a nightmare, the B&B have parking at the rear but I was told the gate is locked @ 9.30pm which is very early if you go out.
Rooms were extremely comfortable and clean.
The room was fantastic and the welcome of the guests is excellent. It is situated near to the city centre and is a fabulous walk through Bute Park and Sophia Gardens to the city centre. Breakfast was excellent and not rushed. Staff were extremely pleasant and courteous.
Cleaning was a bit hit and miss. Overall it was clean.
The decor in this B&B is amazing - it gives you a real feel for what it must have been like living in one of the grand homes on Cathedral Rd, Cardiff back in the late 19th century. And there are lots of old pictures and items for history buffs to enjoy. I couldn't spend enough time wandering round looking at everything, and the dining room was stunning. The hosts were very friendly and happy to chat with my 84 year old father, which made his stay.
The plumbing in the room next to mine on the ground floor was incredibly loud, and my elderly parents struggled a little with the lack of a lift.
