the bar is superb and stylish!
1. too small bed for two persons in a four star hotel f2. ree wifi ridicolous. it did not work almost at all even to open your mailnbox. you are forced to purchase the high speed internet for 10 pounds a day or for 4 pounds a hour!
close walking distance from railway station excellent breakfast The room was basic yet functional and spacious. The breakfast waitress was very friendly and helpful.
no extra bedding was provided. music at breakfast time.
Reception part of a bar! Crazy idea.
Friendly staff and sky sports and movies available in our room.
Food and drinks were expensive.
Very limited car parking. Didn't like the fact that the reception was part of the bar, and that the same staff had to handle both side. So when there were a number of people all checking in at the same time, the bar wasn't staffed.
we arrived at the hotel early, because of an early morning flight,to attend a family funeral, the gentle man who checked us in was extremely helpful and friendly, unfortunately I failed to ask for his name
Nice large room, with a huge flatscreen. Nice selection of movies and free use of the gym and pool table is always a plus.
The food and drinks are slightly overpriced.
Love the new bar/restaurant very cosy feel to it. My daughter loved the free movies
My daughter found the bed a little uncomfortable.
Clean and spacious rooms. The hotel is very modern and stylish. Staff were helpful but didn't pester us all the time. Nice chilled atmosphere. Excellent value for money. Perfect place to take and impress the missus for the night.
The lounging area was modern and comfortable. Bar open 24/7 with free pool table and ps4. Nice clean room big TV Great meal
Parking is ridiculous! £6 to park in there car park if u can even get in there as only 25 spaces.
The staff were very helpful and did their best to make use feel comfortable when we had a substantial extra request at a moment's notice. The facilities were top-notch. The rooms were absolutely fantastic - clean, straightforward and very comfortable. The location was good in terms of distance to the station and into town.
Loved the room, the food, particularly the choice of breakfast. Bar is cosy although the music is a little bit... odd. Great price too. A large double room with flatscreen tv plus breakfast plus a splurge on room service (2 mains, 1 dessert, 2 glasses champagne) came to £150 total - on valentines weekend!
The lady who delivered our room service food wasn't very friendly, made the experience kind of awkward. But the reception staff were lovely.
The bar area was amazing. Comfy chairs and free pool.
On the first floor you could hear the music from downstairs.
Helpful receptionist. Free movies (quite a good selection for kids) and tv. Nice view over the river.
I reported the fact that there was no hairdryer in my room on the first morning of my stay - they said they would sort it out for me, but there was still no dryer provided by the second morning of my stay. Also had to pay £6 to park in the hotel car park - I was unaware of the charge before I parked, and as it was late at night when we arrived, we ended up paying it On the second night, there was no room in the hotel car park, and the receptionist kindly pointed us to a pay and display nearby - which only cost £3 for 24 hours - far more reasonable fee. Wifi, although free, was abysmally slow so we gave up after a few tries.
Was amazed at the quality and professionalism concscidering the price we paid.
Communal areas looked amazing and the staff were all very friendly especially Shannon on front desk who checked us in speedily and was able to give me information about the local area and further plans for the PentaHotel.
Have stayed at the Penta 3 times now and for a 'budget' hotel it is in my opinion excellent. Staff friendly and helpful, food good and can cater for gluten free meals. Lovely outside terrace. It is close to the station and a 10 minute walk into the town centre.
Bedrooms are still Ramada style, however Penta have already given the public area of the hotel a fabulous facelift, with the bedrooms being upgraded this year.
Staff helpful. Bar was very well stocked. Bar area, restaurant, lobby, lounge are all in one area but they look fabulous, it's almost like being in a high end night club. Gym available bar 24 hours a day
Current shower was ok at best but I am told that rain water style will be fitted as part of re-furb. Bedrooms don't really match the amazing quality of the lobby, bar, restaurant etc...Hoping refurbishment will sort that...not entirely sure when that is planned for though. Sneaky extra charge of £6 for parking too that I did not see mentioned anywhere on my booking prior to arrival.
Toiletries in the bathroom were great
Had to pay £6 to park in the carpark, which was ridiculous for an out-of-town location.
Staff very helpful, professional and helpful.
Maybe the waiting between courses as same staff were on reception and serving duties.
Communal areas really nice
Pillows not very comfortable
Great reception area and bar.
Hidden charges for car parking and an upfront charge in my card "in case" I spent anything whilst there which takes 5-10 days to pay back what you don't spend. The rate I booked instantly changed to over £80 on arrival am if have got cheaper rooms elsewhere.
The room was clean and comfortable. Nice sized TV and some free movies on demand. The TV also displayed a personalised welcome note scrolling across the screen, which was a nice touch. Complimentary toiletries were lovely. The restaurant area was decorated very well and staff were friendly. Hotel is in close proximity of the train station. Would recommend this hotel overall.
I had to change rooms twice as the sockets at the table and bedside weren't working. The free wifi signal was also very poor.
Friendly and caring staff. Loads of nice and complimentary surprises - bottle of water, bathroom "kit", free movies and a nice welcome line on the TV in my room. Good price and location, modern design. Totally would recommend this hotel to anybody staying in Ipswich.
Food in the bar / restaurant is way too much overpriced. I had to pay 15 GBP for a burger and a tea and for this money I could have had a proper meal elsewhere. Dinner choice was bad as well. I entirely suggest to stay in this hotel, but for meals please go elsewhere.
