Lampeter is a good centre for visiting provided you have a car. The Cardiganshire coast is not far and has some spectacular cliff-top walking between New Quay and Llangranog. The Cambrian hills run close by to the east. And there is Strata Florida Abbey ruins, Tregaron Bog for bird watchers and Devils Bridge for steam train enthusiasts, all within a 40 minute drive
The town itself has seen better days. The fact that St David’s Trinity College campus is there cannot compensate for the loss of its position as the area’s main livestock market and the town has clearly declined economically.
But there’s still Conti’s Cafe bang in the centre where you’ll get a very special vanilla ice cream.

Lampeter is a small town but with a variety of shops. Great little garden centre is Roberts' if you want well priced pots and plants. Nearby is Cae Hir gardens and a short drive away is Aberaeron, a charming harbour town - you must try the ice cream flavours there (honey, for example). Within the town, The Black Lion offers an excellent menu or, if you wan to cook for yourself, try the Bakehouse for ideas and superb ingredients.

Spending time at the university, particularly enjoyed time in the university library. The Quilt museum was excellent and was one example of Welsh heritage. Visited Cae Hir garden, well worth the visit.
Local people in the cafes and shops were all very friendly and we learned a lot about the town and the changes over the past years.

Lampeter is a very interesting place , it is a university town and has some beautiful buildings .It also hosts a large amount of eateries ,pubs and restaurants. It has a superb fine dining restaurant at the Falcondale hotel, which is well worth a visit.
It also has cultural quilting centre which is quite amazing and a hidden gem from the road. There are plenty of traditional shops available as well as two large supermarkets.

Lampeter is a lovely little town, I have visited my daughter attending the University there several times a year for the past 3 years. She has no intention of returning home to Essex at the end of her uni course!! There are plenty of small shops for everything you might need and 2 larger supermarkets; enough pubs with restaurants to choose from and a charming eatery called 'Granny's Kitchen' open during the day.
The staff were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The setup for leaving and returning to the hotel was brilliant. No worries about getting back too late.
The food was outstanding, we had lunch and breakfast there.
The room we're set up in a way that made you feel it was a five-star 🌟 hotel. Bed was huge!
Good location as 45mins from Aberystwyth seaside resort.
Ideally situated on the edge of Lampeter, this chalet combines access to the town and countryside by foot in equal measures. An easy stroll takes you to river walks or pub lunches, and the supermarket is closer than either of them. Very dog friendly, our giant bear dog Pisces thoroughly enjoyed her stay and loved staring out at the fabulous view, as did we. Highly recommended.
The hotel is set in a beautiful surrounding area. There is ample on site parking, although the lanes to get to it are windy and we managed to arrive as the refuse collections were taking place. The staff were very courteous staff. Our bed was comfortable and the room pretty well looked after.
Was quite nice to have a selection of reading materials available to relax and read.
Staff were really friendly and helpful. It was the only hotel available on the days we were in Lampeter, so was a little worried from the photos I had seen on reviews. However, I think they had made an effort to spruce up the rooms since some of the photos were taken. Very basic but functional. Would stay again if I had to. You get what you pay for at the end of the day.
I have been staying at this hotel for the last 3 years when visiting my son at university. It is a lovely hotel, with great rooms at fantastic prices. It has good, free secure parking and the rooms are well decorated and cosy, having everything you could need for your stay. (ie, tea and coffee, hairdryer, toiletries)
Thank you for the room upgrade that gave me the lovely view of the sunrise down the valley in the morning.
5☆ dinner, comfortable lounge.
Super welsh breakfast served by friendly staff.
What more could you want.
Highly recommend this hotel and restaurant and I will come back.
an excellent location in the centre of Lampeter. The bedroom was well presented and immaculate. The owners had thought of absolutely every possible detail - even Welsh cakes to enjoy with coffee or tea. Amazing Welsh breakfast too. couldn’t fault a thing. highly recommended!
This was the first time staying in this area and when we get the chance to come back, then we would have no hesitation in booking the Evangelisa. The hosts, Angela and Nigel were very friendly and welcoming and as for breakfast, very yummie
Fabulous rural location, secluded with beautiful private decking and bar area. Fully equipped kitchen and comfortable airy rooms. Soon got used to the peacocks who really entertained us. Friendly owners who were always happy to help.
Good value, excellent central location in Lampeter. Staff extremely friendly and helpful, which was appreciated after a long journey. Comfortable and clean room. Good range of teas and coffees provided.
