Dinner food quality VG Coped v well with my wife's restrictive diet.
B&B rate was poor VFM, even for Aug Bank Hol. Wedding party noise went on beyond midnight on both nights!
Breakfast was amazing!
Very dated, a modern interpretation of old fashioned that just doesn't work!
Absolutely loved the look and feel of the hotel and the staff were extra friendly right from the service desk/reception to the dining table. Breakfast was great but the highlight was the sunday 3 course dinner which was fantastic. Best beef stroganoff you'll have in your life. Will always stay here if possible when I next visit cornwall and is a good central base to branch out to all the tourist attractions.
Room 12 was a bit of a wonky room so everything would slide across tables and even myself when in bed which was slightly worrying but got used to it after 3 nights stay.
Friendly staff , clean , staff couldn't do enough for you , good food
Lots of lovely hot water and the bedding was clean, pressed and fresh.
Not advised that the car would be covered in bird droppings being parked in the hotel car park.
Quirky attention to detail great service good location
Good atmosphere Good food Good service
The bed was not particularly comfortable
Sitting in the dining room having breakfast or an evening meal was a very enjoyable experience. The quality of the food was outstanding, breakfast there was so much to choose from. I had one evening meal in the dining room and I would say to anyone staying there to do it at least once. The dining room is very ornate and with the grand piano playing as you have your evening meal it creates a lovely atmosphere.
Room doors banging closed at night.
Staff, polite, supportive, very good food and accommodation.
Fire alarm being set off in the early hours disrupting our sleep. I would have expected some discount for this but it was not offered. Other hotels usually provide a significant discount or no charge, for a disturbed night's sleep.
Lovely hotel - great value for money, clean, bright with excellent facilities and friendly staff. Would definitely recommend
I think it would benefit greatly from having lights along the driveway. Difficult to find at night and lights would enhance the entrance.
The choice at breakfast was excellent and cooked to order. Staff very friendly and helfpul.
Bedding a bit dated, but being picky.
I was in a single room 127 . the wash basin whilst looking art deco was totally impracatable ........like having a wash in a little window box . Other than that EXCELLENT as usual
The location and the hotel was nice and friendly
NIce restaurant and breakfast, very nice location
single room is quite small
Manager was helpful
Staff under-trained(what's a cafetiere), mould in bathroom tiles, ridiculous hand basin, patronising waitress, breakfast clearly cooked well in advance.
The staff made us so welcome ,cme back again thank you Mrs L Moore.
Staff friendly and helpful
We were first given keys to a room which was not 'made up' What a mess ! Room had not been checked to see if ready for guests. Did not replace the bedside bulb, on our stay of two nights, although reported. Breakfast seemed rushed the first morning, although we were there for 8.45am, as too busy setting the tables for lunch. Jams were not in individual pots.
The food was excellent.
The rooms were airtime tired. They need updating.
Relaxed attitude and feeling of the hotel.
service at breakfast could have been better. could clearly hear the couple talking in the room next door.
Nice staff, food, bedroom and bathroom.
Very week shower and useless wifi in room.
The location and the lovely woodland/gardens
We can't say that we really disliked anything about the Penventon
The overall aura of the hotel is lovely. High quality rooms and furnishings. Staff were friendly and polite. Cant comment on evening dining as we only had breakfast, but this was delicious.
I couldn't find a map in the last room we had showing hotel layout and fire exits but having said this the exits were clearly signed in the corridors etc. It wasn`t on the back of the door but maybe it was pinned up somewhere and I just didn't spot it!
very friendly staff. Room perfect.menu very good.
A small criticism A salad that consists of 90% green leaves. more imagination!!!
I thought the overall experience was very good
I did not like that you have to wait in the bar for your table. This is great if you are a group of people but as a single person this seemed a bit over the top. I also did not like that the was a lot of bones in the smocked mackerel and shell in the crab. The main waiter seemed very bossy with the resturant staff and as a customer you really do not need to see this.
the hotel, staff and food was excellent couldn't fault anything just what we needed for our relaxing day off
